youngestisapsycho same reason as Yoda in Return of the Jedi.

Her necklace was down to 1% charge and there were no free sockets in Winterfell.

SweetSummerchild · 29/04/2019 17:24

She was old. Her story had finished. The Great Other had been defeated.

itswinetime · 29/04/2019 17:26

I don't really mind that it's Arya that killed him. I don't like that he could die so easily because how does that make sense? Why build a giant wall to keep him back if anyone can kill him just like that?

Dragon fire has 0 effect on him but Valyrian steel takes him down it just isn't satisfying I don't think. The whites and the Night King set up that whole dragon trap and destroyed the wall, they showed strategic thinking I think I expected more from them. Some clever trap or a double bluff or something!

Lweji · 29/04/2019 17:27

She felt like many people that, as the NK is dead, the rest will be very boring.

Honeyroar · 29/04/2019 17:28

I don't think that Mellisandre did actually predict Ayra killing the night King, she just saw her closing blue eyes (among other colours). I don't think at the time she said it she knew which blue eyes. She only had a few actually accurate prophecies really! But I actually liked her (for the first time!) today. She helped a lot and really believed in what she was doing.

I really thought that Theon was going to get up again and kill the night King, he lay there half dead so long. Theon had been pretty awesome defending Bran and killing wights in the Godswood until he died.

Lweji · 29/04/2019 17:30

Why build a giant wall to keep him back if anyone can kill him just like that?

It's like Achilles and his heel.
The trick is getting to the only point where he's vulnerable. Not so easy.

Arya needed to be an incredible fighter to get that close and dangerous and very intelligent to switch hands like that. It may be fast, but it's not easy, and not many people could have done it. (says someone who has practiced a martial art)

Lweji · 29/04/2019 17:31

Also, Theon was useless as a warrior.
Every time. He only just survived his fight with his own man and that's because he had no balls. Literally.

burblish · 29/04/2019 17:33

Agree with all who have commented on how amazing the music was. Gave me the same chills as the quite similar and equally fantastic music that accompanied the build
up and event of Cersei’s destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor.

burblish · 29/04/2019 17:47

I mean goosebumps (in a good way!) not chills!

sonjadog · 29/04/2019 17:49

They are going to have a huge job clearing up the mess after that battle. All those dead bodies...

SweetSummerchild · 29/04/2019 17:50

Well, at least Sansa won’t have to worry about feeding all those Dothraki and Unsullied any more....

LazyFace · 29/04/2019 17:53

Burb, I agree qith the music, the coin dropped that something miraculous will happen when the music reached its peak the same way as before the wildfire went out.

But... I just can't believe this is it! What happened to the scene from the original season trailer when Arya, Sansa and Jon stand in front of their own statues at the crypt and it suddenly gets cold.
No more winters?! I took this all as a cycle ...

fancynancyclancy · 29/04/2019 17:54

OMG that was epic.
I feel like I was in the battle, I’m emotionally drained.

Lweji · 29/04/2019 17:56

That's the spirit!

fancynancyclancy · 29/04/2019 18:01

The suspense was insane.

So was that dead people from the crypts coming out?

My theories were shit. Did not think Aya would be the one to kill NH. Initially when I thought Bran would die I was a bit like well you could have just wheeled yourself out the front & saved a load of lives.
Pissed of that Cersei didn’t feel the force of the wights & surely the battle for the throne seems irrelevant now?

ElenadeClermont · 29/04/2019 18:03

Valyrian steel was forged with dragonfire and magic spells. It was clearly the right king of spell to kill the Great Other.

Tilikum · 29/04/2019 18:03

The music is so clever. If the tour comes around again I really recommend The Game of Thrones concert. Each character and family have their own themes. When the brave little girl with the scarred face was talking to Davos last week Shireen Baratheon's tune was playing. It's mindblowing.

ElenadeClermont · 29/04/2019 18:03

Right kind. Sorry.

fancynancyclancy · 29/04/2019 18:03

I’m not sure why Jorah looked all messed up when he reappeared. PTSD?

Yeah I thought it had been turned but maybe ice got in his eyes.

fancynancyclancy · 29/04/2019 18:06

When did Aya meet red witch?

Where did his ravens fly to? Yeah wrong time to take a little jolly.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 29/04/2019 18:07

It’s a shame we didn’t find out a bit more of Melisandre’s story. She was clearly ancient - how long had she been waiting for The Great Other? Was she there when they first defeated him?

fancynancyclancy · 29/04/2019 18:11

Bran gave Arya the valerian steel dagger ages ago (did he know this day would come?).. Interesting!

Did one of the good dragons die?

ElenadeClermont · 29/04/2019 18:14

Arya met Melisandre when she was with the Brotherhood without Banners. The Red Woman took Gendry to Dragonstone.

SweetSummerchild · 29/04/2019 18:16

Bran gave Arya the dagger in th Godswood in front of the heart tree (right where she killled the night king) in season 7.

The dagger was also shown in an illustration in a book at hte Citadel that Sam was reading in his research on the white walkers right at the beginning of season 7.

Tilikum · 29/04/2019 18:17

Did one of the good dragons die?

The next episode trailer shows two dragons (and Ghost!) So they both survived.
