10 minutes to go!

In the books Jamie was really hurt by her infidelity. Perhaps they try to recreate that pain.

Thank you!

Ooh I can’t wait. Rapidly going off Dany, it’s ok for her to murder other peoples family because you know war. Don’t be judging Jamie (I love him).

Would I be wrong in thinking that if Daenerys and Jon married, and if Gendry was legitimised, technically Gendry would be next in line to the throne, (until or if they have a child), for the same reason Robert had a claim to the throne? He had Targaryen ancestry/blood?

where is ep2 trailer?

It's up on youtube and breakdowns too.

PlasmaRain · 15/04/2019 12:46

I’m wondering why Dany hasn’t already twigged that Jon must be a Targaryen? She can’t not know that only Targaryens can ride dragons.

I can foresee so many difficulties when it comes to establishing Jon’s superior claim to the Iron Throne, hold onto those draconic neck spines Jon, its going to be a bumpy ride. How do you set about trying to convince someone like her, steeped in her own heritage with the resulting vastly inflated sense of self-importance and entitlement since infancy, that the visions of a weird boy in a wheelchair and an extract from a book read once by man (with now a legitimate grudge against her) are cast iron proof that someone else outranks her in the order of precedence?

Wrongdissection · 15/04/2019 13:16

Watched it at 2 this morning. Loved it. Loved the opening scenes with them all marching in. Loved how Arya almost shouted out to Jon. Absolutely shat my pants when the boy Umber sprang back to life. Want Arya and Gendry to get it on and can’t wait for Jamie and Brienne’s reunion. Find myself caring little for Dany. It’s all about the Starks and Jon Snurrrrr (although I know technically he’s not a Snurrrr anymore.)

EraOfTheGrey · 15/04/2019 13:26

Daenery to Jon about Sansa: "She doesn't need to like me but I am her Queen. If she doesn't respect me............" Is that another veiled threat? Daenerys has become so full of entitlement and power.

Also, I don't think Cersei is still pregnant with Jaime's baby, if she was at all. She was drinking wine and I don't know if she is that careless with her children. Euron will now be the baby daddy.

I really wish people would start listening to Sansa.

Honeyroar · 15/04/2019 13:28

Loved it! A dramatic reunion, but nobody died. Just what I needed to ease back into it.

Dany looked at Jon on the dragon the way that I looked at my husband when he first rode my beloved horse! 😍. She's just made herself a bit surplus if he shares her unique talent of controlling dragons. Jon didn't look as though Sam's news has really gone in. He also looked so like Ned's statue!

Jaime has balls riding into Winterfell. As well as Bran he's got Dany and Ayra gunning for him! Hope he's as good at talking people round as his brother was! Talking of the brothers, surely Bron won't follow up Cersei's plan of him cross bowing her brother(s). Even if he takes the money. He's got a soft spot for them both.

Finally - where were the bunch at the end with Tormund, who find the dead child/walker?

eeela · 15/04/2019 13:30

Arya's reunion with Jon was odd. She seemed to immediately switch back to being a little girl. When Jon asked if she "had to" use needle at all and she replied "a couple of times"... no girl, you bloody love killing these days, there was barely any 'had to' about it!

Honeyroar · 15/04/2019 13:30

I think people are listening to Sansa, more than ever. They're coming to realise how smart she is. She just has her mother's lack of warmth.

TheLazyDuchess · 15/04/2019 13:33

I think when the ice dragon is confirmed to all at winterfell, they'll have to take the visions of the weird boy in the wheel chair who predicted it was coming, seriously. Plus he probably knows things about Daenerys that no one else could, things she only told Viserys etc.

OP posts:
eeela · 15/04/2019 13:34

I did laugh at Jon being more upset that Ned lied than the fact that he'd been shagging his aunt, though! So Jon.

xsquared · 15/04/2019 13:34

Oh, things do not look good for Jaime, but I really don't want him to die. He is a changed man.

Honeyroar · 15/04/2019 13:37

I love Jaime. Even though I hated him in the first couple of episodes. If he really has to go, please let him and Brienne get it on first!

ElenadeClermont · 15/04/2019 13:38

TheLazyDuchess It depends on whether Rhaegar and Lyanna were married. If they were officially wed, then Jon is the heir according Targaryen rules. However they have been deposed, so unless you are Dany it is all rather academic.

I guess the next ruler will gain the throne by conquest anyway.

I saw everyone is imagining the last scene of the series and who will sit throne then. If it mirrors past events, it will be Jaime waiting for whoever comes to take the throne.

EraOfTheGrey · 15/04/2019 13:39

I think people are listening to Sansa, more than ever. They're coming to realise how smart she is. She just has her mother's lack of warmth.

I agree that the houses of the North are listening to her but Jon isn't. Tyrion dismissed her when she reminded him that he can't trust Cersei. Tyrion still believes that Cersei is sending her army North.

JasperRising · 15/04/2019 13:40

Like a pp, I am also wondering if Jaimie knew Bran was still alive? He has been back at Winterfell for some amount of time so someone could have sent news to Kings Landing but not sure we ever saw that happening?

I reckon Arya doesn't want to admit to Jon - her favourite brother - everything she has done. At least not yet. Hence the downplaying of the killing. It's like she had a chance to go back and be the little girl again for a few moments.

Brown selling out Tyrion and Jaimie and trying to kill them would fit the spirit of the books I think. But I suspect in the TV show it may be a plot device to get him north as that is where most of the long-standing characters have now congregated but he won't go through with it.

So many complex issues to tease out with Jaimie's arrival in an area where everyone hates him (and only Brienne and presumably Bran have any idea of the more honourable motivations behind some of his actions) and the implications/possible reactions to Jon's parentage (if they manage to persuade people it is true on the word of a vision and an old diary...). I worry slightly that due to the short time left in the series some of these are go to have to be resolved quickly to move the plot along rather than properly explored.

Honeyroar · 15/04/2019 13:40

I thought it was confirmed that they were married.

Life would be much easier in Westeros if they all just ruled their own corners and melted down the iron throne!

PlasmaRain · 15/04/2019 13:43

Jaime arriving at Winterfell after a grueling 1000 mile journey looking forward to a hot bath, food and bed, takes a look around to see little has changed at Winterfell and then: “Oh fuck.”

Bran: “Yep. Remember me, twat?”

Brilliant.

EraOfTheGrey · 15/04/2019 13:55

I have a question, can anyone clarify?
Rhaegar Targaryen was married to Elia Martell and had a son Aegon, right? Rhaegar and Elia's marriage was annulled and Rhaegar married Lyanna Stark, they then had a son Aegon Targaryen, aka Jon Snow.

Did Rhaegar Targaryen name both his sons Aegon? Also, why did Ned Stark maintain his friendship with Robert Baratheon after he murdered his sisters husband? His nephews father?

ElenadeClermont · 15/04/2019 13:55

Honeyroar You are right. Rhaegar and Lyanna are married in the show. In the faith of the Seven as well, which makes it even less likely. There is no bigamy in the Seven. Sometimes D&D oversimplify things.

ElenadeClermont · 15/04/2019 13:58

Rhaegar's and Ella's marriage could not have been annulled as it would make the whole Elia and children as hostages to Aerys / Rhaegar needs 3 children / Rhaegar conspires with the Seven lords meaningless.
Targs had multiple wives.

JasperRising · 15/04/2019 14:11

EraOfTheGrey I think (though maybe wrong) that Rhaegar is killed in battle before Ned finds out about Lyanna having a baby. Also, whilst Rhaegar didn't abduct Lyanna, the mad king did murder Ned's dad and older brother so he had no reason to love the Targs (except his nephew).
