THE VICTIM BBC MON 9pm

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/04/2019 16:45

New drama about a grieving mum who confronts the man accused online for being her sons killer

But is he really a notorious child murderer or a tragic victim of mistaken identity?

In law, there is the accused and the victim. In life, it’s not that simple...

I think this will be quite heart wrenching

I started crying at her sitting on the stairs waiting for Ben and never really stopped.
Great stuff, the actor playing Craig was fantastic.

Justmuddlingalong · 11/04/2019 22:07

What a brilliant drama. Well written, well acted and believable. Well done BBC.

Groovee · 11/04/2019 22:10

Dh predicted it before it started then I loudly gasped when he was right!

What a spine chilling programme for its twists and turns.

FawnDrench · 11/04/2019 22:12

Terrific.
I am exhausted though - very harrowing to watch but completely mesmerising and compelling.

The actor who played Craig / Eddie was absolutely outstanding.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 11/04/2019 22:12

Absolutely fantastic drama, so well written and acted.

LoopyGremlin · 11/04/2019 22:14

Thought it was brilliantly acted. So many things that it makes you consider about victims and perpetrators.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 11/04/2019 22:15

So glad so many people liked it. Gripping and with fantastic acting.

PlatypusPie · 11/04/2019 22:16

Very good indeed.

Clawdy · 11/04/2019 22:17

Brilliant acting, no silly improbable twists, a compelling and heartbreakingly believable drama. Loved that quote at the end too, I didn't recognise it.

ooItsAoBeautifulDayNow · 11/04/2019 22:18

Another with a legitimate audible gasp at that twist. Fuck. Such good acting, such good script.

For a millisecond I though at least Line of Duty will be a walk in the park after this.

Oh no wait what am I thinking #PleaseDontLetUsDownTed

WE CANT TAKE ANY MORE.

feelingdizzy · 11/04/2019 22:18

Really loved it, so well acted. Thought that might be the twist, cried so much at the end.

placemats · 11/04/2019 22:20

'He wanted to be big'

So sad. So bloody brilliant.

youlladdressmeassir · 11/04/2019 22:24

James Harkness. He was fantastic

I hadn't really warmed to Anna and I posted as much, but that last bit, it was heartbreaking. The pain, the blame and the effort she put in to living each day. It all came together, built up slowly and then Wham.....sucker punch

And I also shed a tear for the 13 year old boy, living with what he done every day.

I'm still bloody crying. That was a good drama,

SinkGirl · 11/04/2019 22:34

Haven’t seen tonight’s yet, just finished episode 3

I’ve really enjoyed it but it surely can’t be Tom (Craig’s best mate)? It’s been too obvious from the very beginning - surely his appearance with the social worker is some sort of misdirection. That, or all three of them (including the boyfriend, who I’m sure did more than “find the body”) did it.

Also, tip to John Hannah: if you have feelings for a drug addicted sex worker, it’s not surprising that your wife wasn’t thrilled about it.

KnifeAngel · 11/04/2019 22:44

I had to rewatch the last ten minutes with subtitles. I couldn't understand a word she was saying when she was crying.

Encyclo · 11/04/2019 22:48

It makes sense now why the police didn’t outright deny who Craig was after he was attacked.

purpleme12 · 11/04/2019 22:52

In the first episode a policeman came back and confirmed to John Hannah that Craig Myers wasn't him so the person who knew must have lied to him

placemats · 11/04/2019 23:00

Perhaps a spoiler alert would be good in the title.

The detective's (John Hannah's character) response when he discovered the real identity was chilling. No wonder his wife left him.

All the actors were excellent and with a script and great production values I'm not surprised. Harrowing and redemptive.

purpleme12 · 11/04/2019 23:13

I always assume when I go into these threads that there might be spoilers

tinstar · 11/04/2019 23:21

I'm surprised anyone would think otherwise really. Once a programme has aired people are going to be talking about it Confused

purpleme12 · 11/04/2019 23:22

Yes exactly

dontfluffthefluffer · 11/04/2019 23:22

Wow (again, just caught up - every single time!)

Just wow. The last 10 minutes was raw and so powerful. The Rūmi quote at the end too was so apt.

Sympathies lay with both parties at the end and the acting was outstanding. Wonderfully played by them all.

I audibly gasped in the mediation scene and had to pause it for a second so I could breathe. I felt every emotion Kelly played in that scene.

dontfluffthefluffer · 11/04/2019 23:24

And yep, playing spot the location all the time too. The "police headquarters" location is actually somewhere I am frequently so it's amusing to see it used along with all the Edinburgh old town areas I kick about in lots.

Still hated John Hannah's character Shock

Bunnylady53 · 11/04/2019 23:27

Loved it - we need more dramas of this quality.

Macaroonmayhem · 11/04/2019 23:32

DontFluff I used to work in the vicinity of the high court on the Royal Mile so the other night when they were chasing the woman in the yellow coat through the closes, I got really annoyed because they were actually going round in impossible circles! And then I got really sad remembering how super fit I was from going up and down all those steps every day to and from the station....😂
