Given we are only a week away from the final season, I thought we should have a shiny new thread to discuss the episodes as they are broadcast.

Anyone else going to be starting their watch at 2 am on Monday 15th?

I've watched the trailers and teasers dozens of times, and I am READY!

I have a theory that the Battle for Winterfell in Ep 3 will be lost, and they will have to move south, re assemble at Dragonstone or Kings Landing. After all, here are three episodes to fill after that!

I find it incredible that there are so many characters that I hated at one point that I now love and would be really sorry to see die. Jamie, the hound etc

Danaerys needs to die though. I really can’t stand her.

nocoolnamesleft · 23/04/2019 22:49

I'm just gutted that I can't see the onion knight lasting much longer. Odd that a smuggler has had more consistent integrity than so many people.

Aberforthsgoat · 23/04/2019 23:04

I think the onion Knight is going to be killed by the dead and newly risen little girl with the burn on her face
I don’t think he is going to be able to bring himself to cut her down and the hesitation will get him killed. Although maybe that will be too similar to what happened at hardhome

Lweji · 23/04/2019 23:34

Surely Arya couldn't be so scared by anyone else except maybe Jaquen?

I thought the same.

Lweji · 23/04/2019 23:44

What about Cersei's undead bodyguard? Could he be turned by the NK?

Honeyroar · 24/04/2019 00:09

I thought that in the part of the trailer where Dany says to Jon that the dead are already here she sounds a little accusatory. As in she thought all the Targerions were dead, but here Jon Snow is..

Holidayshopping

Off topic but no I never was. But it was a different time, no one was asked for ID in the 1980s.

Aberforthsgoat · 24/04/2019 07:27

I think Arya could be that scared by just seeing the dead for the first time especially if there was a horde of them

BlackCatSleeping · 24/04/2019 07:32

I felt like Jaqen's storyline was at an end, so I'd be surprised to see him again, but where is Daario? Will he come back? It was really odd the way she left him.

BlueEyedBengal · 24/04/2019 07:55

Am I the only person in the world who hasn't seen this? My eldest is mad on it and everyone says they watch but not me. What is so good about g o t that I am missing?

Aberforthsgoat · 24/04/2019 08:20

@blueeyedbengal too much to sum up! It’s a very clever, multi-layered story with amazing world building and characters you really get behind and get attached to. It’s also one of the few books/tv shows that can totally flip how you feel about characters.

PreseaCombatir · 24/04/2019 08:27

Yep, if you would have told me in season 1 that I would be team Sansa and not team Dany lol

Aberforthsgoat · 24/04/2019 09:26

ha yes @preseacombatir I absolutely hated Jaime initially and now I love him.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 24/04/2019 09:34

Yes you can definetly change allegiances part way through, that's what I love about the show!

DocMarteens · 24/04/2019 09:42

I've seen 2 episodes of this last season but am struggling to look forward to the next episodes like I used to. I'm still enjoying them but not desperate to find out what happens because I think they'll mainly all die anyway and there will be some cynical ending with some justice but sacrifice for the remaining characters.

Sadly, I think it's the end for Big Brianne in episode 3...

TeaForTheWin · 24/04/2019 10:40

I hope Brienne makes it, she and pod are my faves. But I doubt it. She'll probably die for Jamie. Pod might die to save her too :/

I was just thinking of that arya sex scene:
'I want to know what it's like' Five minutes later: Gendry is asleep, snoring away > Yup, standard. xD

AngeloMysterioso · 24/04/2019 11:04

I think one issue I have with Arya (or maybe it’s Maisie) as that she only seems to have one default expression. Every line is delivered in the same monotone voice, she only ever seems to look bored. She doesn’t show any range of feeling at all, not even slightly. Just cold and/or bored.

Lweji · 24/04/2019 11:06

I've just pictured Cersei being killed by all her precious children.

Mitzimaybe · 24/04/2019 11:26

Is it OK if I ask some stupid questions? White Walkers - why are they different from the Army of the Dead? We saw the Children create the Night King with the dragonglass, but where do the White Walkers come into it? Also, why are they called Walkers when they always seem to be on horseback? Is it just a nice alliteration?

If Jon Snow is a Targaeryen (spelling?), why isn't he silver-blond?

The Targaeryens originally took the seven kingdoms by force. Then Robert Baratheon took them by force. So why would a Targaeryen be the "rightful" ruler any more than anyone else who can take the throne by force?

All this talk of Wildfire at Kings Landing - didn't Tyrion use all he could get his hands on at the Battle of the Blackwater, and then Cersei learned about there being more at the Sept of Baelor, but that was all used in blowing up the Sept. So there isn't any more Wildfire left, is there?

Aberforthsgoat · 24/04/2019 11:36

@mitzimaybe Jon is half stark as well - his mother was dark haired. Targaryen's used to marry each other, as in siblings, to keep the bloodline pure which is probably why they all had silver blonde hair.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the white walkers made by the night king and other wights? So they all form the army of the dead? I could have got that the wrong way around.

BlackCatSleeping · 24/04/2019 11:47

There’s still shit tons of wildfire left. Enough to blow up Kings Landing. I love the idea of Bran being the one who sent the mad king mad, so the wildfire storyline would tie in nicely with that. Burn them all!!

EeeByeGummieBear · 24/04/2019 11:49

Could Danny's accusatory 'the dead are already among us' comment be related to the fact the Jon did die, and she's worked out/ found out? She did ask about what it meant when Davos said he took a knife in the heart for his people. Although why bring it up when you're being attacked by an army of dead people, I'm not sure!

SweetSummerchild · 24/04/2019 12:42

White Walkers - why are they different from the Army of the Dead?

Wights are re-animated dead things - raised from the dead by white walkers.

White walkers are created by the Night King (or so we assume - we have only seen it happen once). In the show the Night King took Craster’s male baby to the heart of winter and then touched him and his eyes turned blue. Hence, making him into a white walker.

In the books white walkers are killed by dragonglass and Valyrian steel but wights can only be killed by fire. In the books there is no mention of ‘kill the mothership and all the droids drop dead’ but I guess it makes it much easier in the show.

Not all people with Targaryan ancestry have blonde hair. Robert Baratheon and Gendry don’t.

Mitzimaybe · 24/04/2019 13:34

The scene with the Night King taking Craster's male baby - is that when Jon was watching? I think it was too dark for me to make out what was happening on screen.

And thanks everyone for the answers!
