Married At First Sight- is this for real?

This can't be real, surely? Who would be insane enough? I've never seen the show, but do they explain if it's actually an official marriage? I would have thought that the whole concept goes against the solemn nature of the legal contract.

@ThePixieQueen- I'm in Aus and watch Aus MAFS....... my biggest issue is with Mike- he riles me up beyond belief the narcissistic twat. Yes Jessika is an arse- but when he said she needed to be brought down and he was the man to do it.....hells to the no!!!! The Aus one it's not an official marriage but a commitment ceremony/marriage with no paperwork signed. Never gotten to see the UK version.

Catching up on last night's episode and it's soooo cringey to watch. Steph is totally not into it and Jonathan is. Definitely will end in (his) tears 😔

Feel very sorry for Jonathan, he appears to be a decent, genuine bloke who is desperate for things to work out and Steph is having none of it.

Verity and Jack seem lovely. His Dad is bloody awful though but his Mum is much nicer.

I think Jonathon being single when he otherwise seems decent looking, stable job etc is a bit strange. Stephanie could be sensing something that we can’t see. I’d be out after he called his mum ‘mother’ and I do get slightly creepy vibes off him. So can’t blame Stephanie for not warming to him.

Jack's dad is charming

I call my DM mother as she hates the word "Mum" and always has done, and "Mummy" seems a bit too childish.

Re the comment Jack made about taking their pants off- he only said it because the woman said something like "it's better to get to know her before taking..." and he smiled, like he thought that was how she was going to finish the sentence - it wasn't a random weird comment!

Steph - nice but seems to be quite hard work. Poor Jonathan is trying so hard while she just rolls her eyes at him.

Verity - lovely.

Jack - ok but not as good looking as he thinks he is.

Jacks dad - awful. No idea why he’s so sniffy about Verity and hung up on looks when he’s distinctly average looking and his wife has clearly had a lot of rather poor plastic surgery with the result that she looks like Caitlin Jenner.

Just watched both episodes tonight.

I think Jack and Verity were both genuinely keen on each other, but will be interesting to see if they just got caught up in the whirlwind of the wedding day. Jack may turn out to be too much of a 'lad' for Verity. I think she's very pretty, in a classic way and certainly far better than being filled with botox and lip fillers. She has a bit of a goofy laugh though 😂

When Jack's mum said 'looks aren't everything' i assumed his dad had made a comment about Verity (not aired) she was responding to. I did love her when she said 'I married you' 😂😂 Jack's Dad is a dick though and I feel sad for Verity and her family to watch that back.

Agree with everyone else that Jonathan and Steph are a poor match. It was easy to see that before the wedding day. He seems very kind and thoughtful but seems to be overdoing it (like all the little gifts) which then comes across as disingenuous. He's trying far too hard and it's off putting. I've dated guys like this and it's so frustrating as you want to fancy them as you know they will be loyal and kind, but it just doesn't click for some reason!

Stephanie reminds me of the cold hearted one from the last series, the one matched with the guy with the dog.

Verity looks absolutely hammered to me.

I don't find Jack attractive at all and he looks way older than 25. I think Verity is a lot better looking than him.

Jack reminds me of a young Gary Kemp and his brother has a passing resemblance to Martin Kemp.

Verity has a dark sexy Nigella vibe about her.

I don't think it should be a real marriage either. I'm shocked the registrar is allowed to marry them. They should have a year and a day handfasting instead.

Going against the grain, I didn’t think his dad was particularly out of order. He said when he told the family he didn’t agree with it. On the day he knows his son’s normal type aesthetically and she wasn’t it.
She seemed nice but reminded me of Miranda, bit awkward. He clearly didn’t fancy her but had the manners to be polite and give it a go. I thought they were very mismatched.
I found his mum’s outfit bizarre! Cream lacy dress, dark shoe boots and the biggest bit of back coming ever. I liked the fact she stuck up for her, I guess to show support for her son not particularly for his bride.
As for the other couple, she too reminds of the dog hater from last series!

Maybe it will work because she isn't his normal type?When I met dh,all my ex boyfriends had been quite slim with dark hair ,dh is bald and stocky obviously looks in a long term relationship are only a very small part of things ,I do wonder though what people would do it they got to the alter and found someone physically repulsive?
