Married At First Sight- is this for real?

This can't be real, surely? Who would be insane enough? I've never seen the show, but do they explain if it's actually an official marriage? I would have thought that the whole concept goes against the solemn nature of the legal contract.

He didn't say she looked homely he meant she wants a family and home.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/04/2019 18:42

** he said she was homely, there's a difference.

Hazlenutpie · 11/04/2019 19:01

I've enjoyed the series but felt sorry for all of them in a way. Having said that, Steph didn't come across at all well and neither did Jack.

Poor Jonathan looked ill towards the end. He tried so hard bless him, he really didn't deserve Steph.

I thought Verity was lovely. I think Jack was a bit of an arse and not good looking at all.

I'd love to think Verity could read this thread. We're pretty unanimous is saying how much we liked her.

ItsSomeKindOfWonderful · 11/04/2019 21:20

At the end of the show it said they were going through a divorce... surely they'd both be annulments?

I tried to look them up on social media to see their reactions but couldn't find any of them. Anyone has any luck?

nowifi · 11/04/2019 21:53

Jack.stevens69 ! Looks like he has deleted a lot of his posts and only left the ones that make him look "cool". I really hope Verity didn't think he was too good for her or anything like that, think he loves himself and was trying to play the nice guy!

greenpop21 · 11/04/2019 22:17

Homely to me means home and family are important to her, nothing to do with looks.

SpanishFly · 11/04/2019 22:31

Seriously he has 69 at the end of his user name 🤦‍♀️🤣

I do think he quite liked Verity, I don't think you could fake the smooching etc consistently for a few months, surely? He just didn't like her enough and knew he'd be "settling" for her if he continued (I dont mean that in a derogatory way to her, but in a settling for someone who wasn't the One kind of way)

ItsSomeKindOfWonderful · 12/04/2019 01:33

@nowifi thanks!

Jeez they could have just looked at his insta handle with a 69 in it and seem he's a boy and not ready to settle down.

ItsSomeKindOfWonderful · 12/04/2019 01:42

I kind of get Steph not wanting to keep the gift though. Even if she does like it she'll never wear it as it'll make her skin crawl when it's on her as he did when he touched her. She didn't need to huff and puff about it though, if he won't accept her saying no then she could have just taken it and given it to a friend or to a charity action or shop.

Starlight456 · 12/04/2019 05:39

I do remember from the last series though how there was one woman like one’d very badly but there were a lot of allegations of how he behaved very differently when the camera was off. I wonder if there is similar with Johnathon

Hazlenutpie · 12/04/2019 07:50

Yes Steph could have been more gracious.

As for Jack69 🤮 that just shows what a twat he is. Quite honestly he didn’t deserve the lovely Verity. I hope she finds love with someone who will cherish her and treat her well. She certainly deserves it. She’s a classic beauty, not a fake barbie girl like the ones I’m sure Jack69 goes for.

LetsDialDownTheIanPaisley · 12/04/2019 08:13

So sad that Verity has always been the one dumped in her relationships and has now been dumped again on national television. Good on her to keep trying.

Surprised she fancied Jack - he spoke like he had a golf ball in his mouth and spends his time
Selling used cars.

LetsDialDownTheIanPaisley · 12/04/2019 08:15

Also thought Jonathan very odd to have no male friends.

RainbowFox · 12/04/2019 08:54

Jonathan has that married male friend, was his name Mike? He was very yummy, shame he's married Grin

Rumbletum2 · 12/04/2019 10:59

Tbh they were all dreadful in their own way. I think Verity was the nicest and most genuine - and definitely more attractive than Jack (whatever he, his prick of a father and Bride of Wildenstein mother may think) but all that eyes closed, shoulder shaking forced laughing would drive me bananas.

Steph was a cow. Yes, Jonathan was a drip but she behaved appallingly and any bloke with any sense who saw the show will give her a wiiiiiiiiiiide berth.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/04/2019 11:12

but all that eyes closed, shoulder shaking forced laughing would drive me bananas

Really weird,wasn't it?

Lottapianos · 12/04/2019 11:24

'Absolutely thought Jonathan was creepy. Fine to give Steph the annulment papers but to put them under her pillow inside a card and gift? confused'

I agree, and don't get the Jonathan love at all. His extreme reaction when she tried to give the jewellery back was very manipulative. I wouldn't have wanted to keep it either. I wasnt wild about Steph but he would seriously have got on my nerves and I don't blame her for wanting to get far away from him

Didn't think Jack was anything to look at at all. I think they're all bonkers for putting themselves through such a ridiculous process in the first place

greenpop21 · 12/04/2019 11:31

At first I thought Jonathan was being gallant by asking Steph to keep the jewellery. But at the end she said, "Again you've made me unhappy" or similar and he said " But it's made me happy." That made me feel really differently about him.
I think he has no idea about women. He kept saying he just wanted to make her happy, there was nothing about his feelings. As though he wanted a wife and that was it.

greenpop21 · 12/04/2019 11:34

but all that eyes closed, shoulder shaking forced laughing would drive me bananas

Me too. He is a wide boy/Jack the lad type and she seems intelligent and sensitive. Not a good match.

Lottapianos · 12/04/2019 11:37

'As though he wanted a wife and that was it.'

Yes, very odd. She made it VERY clear that she did not want to keep the jewellery and he should have respected that instead of manipulating and guilting her into keeping it. Ugh.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 12/04/2019 11:40

Again you've made me unhappy" or similar and he said " But it's made me happy." That made me feel really differently about him.

Yes, that made me a bit Hmm about him too.
He also made a comment in a previous episode about if she'd just parked a little bit over he'd be able to fit his car on the drive too, which was the first thing he said when he walked in the door.
I'd like to hear Steph's side.

Ellabella989 · 12/04/2019 11:44

I think Jonathan would have been a complete pain in the ass to be around! I’m sure he’s a nice guy who means well but he seemed incapable of picking up social cues. I bet he’d be very nitpicky and controlling and would force his partner to play board games every evening

JaneJeffer · 12/04/2019 11:44

He also said something like nobody got murdered and looked at Stephanie in a very creepy way. I just get strange vibes off him.

OrangeJuiceandArmchairs · 12/04/2019 12:37

Yes the stroking her rather than the cat was awful. Her body language was closed but he just couldn't recognise she didn't like it. He did it again anyway.

BuggaLugga · 12/04/2019 14:43

If you watched the last series there is a series of videos on Instagram (click on IGTV and watch them in order from the end) about Stephanie's experience from last year with that hideous Ben Jardine character. Some interesting insights into the process too.
