This can't be real, surely? Who would be insane enough? I've never seen the show, but do they explain if it's actually an official marriage? I would have thought that the whole concept goes against the solemn nature of the legal contract.

I feel more sympathetic to Stephanie than most pp. It is really hard to be around someone who you don't get on with, don't fancy, and who is trying to please you all the time in ways that they like but you actually don't. I can understand how it would have made her sulky and standoffish. They were a bad match

I felt for Stephanie. They were a bad match. I don't know why I watch it because the whole idea makes me cringe - mostly based on how I am.with strangers.

As soon as Ben came on the screen it was obvious he was fame hungry and gay/bi,what on earth were the production team thinking?

I've just realised that Jonathan from this series reminds me a bit of Doctor Alex from love island in the way he speaks /awkwardness with women!

I don't think he was awkward,Steph made him feel awkward but he has lots of female friends and from what we saw a nice male friend.

I know poor Steff she seems like an amazing person, awful that she was suicidal at one point. She makes the point that she put her trust in the process because of the apparently rigorous testing/vetting procedures, so must have overridden her own doubts about him.

At one point during the latest series one of the “experts” said that one of the reasons they use for matching the couples is “both looking for a lasting, committed relationship” (or words to that effect). Well no shit Sherlock. Doesn’t that apply to 99.9% of the applicants? Surely that’s your baseline BEFORE you then go on to find out whether they’re both animal lovers or whatever.

The “experts” are a complete joke.

Funny when they said about them both being public sector workers (Jonathan and Steph) so they had something in common!

I wondered if Jonathan had severe halitosis or something which doesn't come across on screen the poor bloke, Steph absolutely couldn't stomach being near him at all.

I felt that Steph wasn’t giving Jonathan a chance but actually the way he behaved at the end showed she was completely right about him. The passive aggressive way eh ended things with the papers in a card and him pushing the jewellery on her despite her clearly not wanting it, made me think he could probably be spiteful and petty. We’d seen it with the parking thing but I imagine he was on his best behaviour while the cameras were on, maybe there were other incidents we didn’t see.

I think what someone else said about Steph not wanting to show him any affection in case he took it as encouragement makes sense. He strikes me as the type who would have held it against her if she’d kissed him once and then not wanted to carry on doing it.

I think her standards were too low when she went into the process tbh - she just seemed to want someone who would actually turn up on the day! So it must have been a crushing disappointment to her that, other than that, he didn’t have any of the things she was looking for.

I think the parking comment was nerves tbh and came out all wrong.

He probably knew there would be an awkward atmosphere as soon as he arrived so it was his (terrible) attempt at humour and instantly filling the silence.

I agree Ella there was no way anything he did would've been right with her imo.

Seems like Steph from the past series has deleted her IGTV from her Instagram.

WHY, would anyone want to do this. It seems quite an utter failure.

If anything, I would say that there would have been more of a chance if they had swapped the couples over and Jack had been matched with Steff and Cerity with Jonathan. No science involbed and may have been a total flop but with the science (!) they did seem utterly mismatched.

No, the message at the end said "to take part in a potential future series..." So they're clearly waiting to see if they get enough applicants 🤣
