Married At First Sight- is this for real?

This can't be real, surely? Who would be insane enough? I've never seen the show, but do they explain if it's actually an official marriage? I would have thought that the whole concept goes against the solemn nature of the legal contract.

Jack must be gutted big brother has been cancelled, I wonder if he knew that when he was applying.

I only watched the episode where they moved in together so missed the wedding but can tell that Jack doesn't like Verity and that poem was so cringe.

Watching the Australian version, it's so much better. They're all so awkward!

I feel sorry for Jonathan, at least he’s trying whereas Steph seems to shut down everything he says and almost treats him with contempt.
Not sure about Jack & Verity, both seem nice but his dad is very rude and her whole body shuddering when she’s not really laughing just giving a polite chuckle irritates me for some reason!

God, Jonathon would be so perfect for a friend of mine. I feel like I should get in touch with him and see if he wants to go out with her. She's 10 years older than Steph though. The jenga would float her boat.

Verity and Jack are not mis-matched looks-wise but she's a bit indie and he's not. I really like her! I do think they could be like mates who shared halls in university and are not at all similar and suddenly realise 10 years later they might as well get married. I couldn't bear his parents though.

Verity reminds me of this actress - the young girl in Devils Advocate. I can’t watch Verity without seeing her in court...

I didn't understand why steph was being so odd when they were playing the card game. When he had his rude answer lined up, she had slammed it down for not being funny before he even said it. Then he said it and she said "but do you not see why that's funny?" Well, yes he did see why it was funny, but she just decided she wasn't going to laugh along.
It's been clear from probably day 3 that she just isn't into him, but it must be a difficult situation where you cant say that to him as you're supposed to be giving it a proper go.
I don't know if anyone else is confused by Jonathon too. I think he looks completely different depending on how hes dressed- some outfits seem to change his face completely.

Re Jack, he said in the last episode that he wants to have sex. But maybe that was just a line. I think he does quite like her. Theres a lot of touching etc, which is hard to do if you just don't fancy someone.

I don't understand them playing the card game either and I thought perhaps I didn't understand the rules, that IS how you play it,isn't it?

Watched S1 of Australian one. I can see why some people are still single! One of them was so horrible I think and the bloke was really, really nice. I'd have had him in a heartbeat.

I love this show. I thought it was sweet that Jack & Verity seemed to genuinely ike each other. I suspect annulment is on the cards.
I thought Steph was rude, particularly when saying entertaining his friends was so boring. That’s just bad manners.
I think couples in their 40/50s would be an interesting dynamic for next season.
Jonathan is camp though and the Morris dancing around the wasps would have made me turned off pretty sharpish.

Also could her friends have not put away the clothes horse? I can’t imagine having friends round with my washing in the same room.

I'm loving the Australian one, is there a chat for it? Not sure what series I'm watching but one of the women was adopted as an Ethiopian orphan if that helps.
