Is anybody else watching? I came across it by mistake on iPlayer!

Oops, posted too soon. I'm quite enjoying it, mainly because there's no way I could do any of it!

I've watched one so far and will carry on. It is a little charmless compared to the Sewing Bee and Bake Off, but it does have the same appeal of watching personalities and conflicts, as well as watching people do things you couldn't do yourself.

The man with the tache is a bit of a weirdo and the woman judge is quite unpleasant and laddish, but I quite like Stacey D as a presenter.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 15/03/2019 16:03

The second episode was good, I liked the special effects make up.

I love the idea of using identical twins so neither person has an advantage at the end!

I've been watching this. It is interesting but I'm finding the female judge a bit too much. And "ding dong" is an awful catchphrase!

OddBoots · 15/03/2019 16:12

I'm not too sure what I think of the red chairs thing.

I'm not sure why the French chap wears a mask but I like the idea of it when it is such a close up 'face to face' role.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/03/2019 21:40

What channel?

I've never heard of this.

OddBoots · 19/03/2019 07:13

BBC Three on iplayer or late Wednesday night on BBC 1.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/03/2019 09:57

Boots

iklboo · 19/03/2019 10:16

Wasn't ding dong Terry Thomas' catchphrase from the 50s?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/03/2019 13:11

I thought it was Lesley Phillips, iklboo, but I could be wrong.

Definitely one of the "bounders" or "cads" from that era.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/03/2019 13:13

Just googled - it was both of them

"(Of Leslie Phillips*) His seductive voice is his trademark as well as his catchphrases, "I say, Ding Dong" (originally the catchphrase of Phillips' character Jack Bell in Carry On Nurse), "Hello" and "Lumme!", which were partly, if not wholly, based on those of fellow cad actor Terry Thomas."

*Sorry Leslie -I gave you the girls' spelling in my previous post.

merdde · 19/03/2019 18:02

I really like it. It's more of a 'Britain's next top model' type show which is actually working well I think! Looks like they've spent a bit of money on it too

bruffin · 19/03/2019 18:08

Im enjoying it, but i liked the lady that went out in the first week and Paige is getting on my nerves.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/03/2019 16:55

Just watched the first episode - I think Brandon should have gone, not Dina.

Paige is giving me the Raige - talented she may be, but she's an arsehole!

I like the girl with the Jessica Rabbit hair.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/03/2019 22:16

Have watched the other two episodes now - very glad Paige is gone.

I think her early success went to her head - she became too diva-ish and thought that she was so good she could behave as badly as she liked and would still get kept in.

Serves her right!

Violetroselily · 21/03/2019 07:27

I'm enjoying this but Stacey Dooley is so bloody irritating

Paige is an arsehole

ThePankhurstConnection · 21/03/2019 10:05

Agreed with everyone about the makeup artist woman and her dreadful 'dingdong' catch phrase, she is trying too hard. I love seeing what everyone can do - some very talented people there. BUT why does Brandon keep being saved - from what I've seen he isn't as good as the others, he certainly shouldn't have stayed instead of Mattieu. Going on about a swipe of orange under the eye as if it were a stroke of genius. Come on. The judges should lay off the crack pipes int he break.

ThePankhurstConnection · 21/03/2019 10:11

Paige is an arsehole

Violetroselily - she believes her own hype (haven't reached the one where she gets ditched yet. She was being very lazy and unorganised compared to many of the others who were taking it seriously. She has natural talent but she needed to do some work too not just coast along.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 21/03/2019 11:27

BUT why does Brandon keep being saved - from what I've seen he isn't as good as the others, he certainly shouldn't have stayed instead of Mattieu.

Totally agree with this Pankhurst - he isn't particularly talented and is such a drama-llama - bursting into teas and having panic-attacks every two minutes. If it is just attention-seeking it means he is a PITA, if it's genuine it means that he is temperamentally unsuited to a career in a very competitive industry where you will never please all of the people all of the time.

He should have gone instead Matthieu (but Matthieu really let himself down - he could have done so much more).

ThePankhurstConnection · 21/03/2019 12:05

He should have gone instead Matthieu (but Matthieu really let himself down - he could have done so much more).

Very true - he really should have gone big on that challenge (and dammit I knew I'd spelled his name incorrectly Smile)

I think Brandon is probably a nice boy and he is talented but he maybe has a little growing up to do before being in such a competitive industry.

99point9FahrenheitDegrees · 21/03/2019 12:31

I want to like it, but that Stacey is one of the most annoying presenters I've ever had to watch. Good Lord. Am vvv disappoint as this sort of programme is exactly my favourite kind of cheerful laundry folding watching. Hopefully they get someone better if they do another series.

bruffin · 21/03/2019 13:01

I like Stacey Dooley
and dont find her annoying at all, but the woman judge is!

FrugalFanny · 21/03/2019 13:30

We're watching it as my daughter is training to be a professional make up artist - in her third year at Uni.

We're sort of enjoying it, but the female judge is just awful. Apart from her comments and that ridiculous catch phrase, she's rather odd generally. Can't quite put my finger on it, but something is off.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 21/03/2019 15:52

I'm with you bruffin - Stacey is okay - not fantastic, but not bad either, but that Val of the Ferocious Spectacles is AWFUL! Very irritating woman.

merdde · 23/03/2019 06:05

That woman judge is Val Garland, makeup artist to lady gaga and many others
