Is anybody else watching? I came across it by mistake on iPlayer!

Dearie me - Even I could have done a better job on the 'face off@ than Paige and that guy - so messy!

RebootYourEngine · 23/03/2019 19:07

I am enjoying this. Glad Paige has gone. She won the first challenge and thought that gave her a free pass to behave like a diva.

InkyToesies · 24/03/2019 19:55

Why does Stacey Dooley continue to mangle the English language by saying stuff like "Judges, may you please announce your decision." and " May you please begin the challenge now. ". Grrr.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/03/2019 20:40

Poor Stacey — Mel and Sue, and Claudia never had to put up with this many tears!

Watching with teenage dd. Cheered when paige left. Now following a couple of them
On instagram-their work is amazing!
@frugalfanny can I please ask what courses your dd has done? My dd is very into makeup

goodthinking99 · 24/03/2019 21:32

I've just started watching this with pre teen DD (there's not too much swearing, so far anyway) and we are both love it! Pleased that Paige didn't get to wing it any further, despite her obvious talent, and am hoping the hyper ventilating and teariness calms down a bit (so much DRAMA!) I'm going to go against the grain and say I love Val and her ding donging, almost as much as her fellow judges choice of jumpers. I love that they are taking it all really seriously and not mincing their words. It has shone a light on a world I know nothing about, and I just hope the gaggle of youngsters can stick the pace in this ruthless business.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/03/2019 15:09

I agree! In a business like this one there's no good sugar-coating the comments.

Many years ago there was talent show on TV - New Faces - Nina Myskow was one of the judges and sometimes she was brutal (The Bitch on the box) - everybody booed and complained about her as she occasionally had the entrants in tears.

She was interviewed once and asked did she not feel guilty, and I'll never forget what she said. It was words to the effect of "No. I don't feel guilty. This is a competitive business and if there is someone there who is thinking of packing up their job and trying to make it in show business, I'm not going to encourage them when I can see that they don't stand a chance. That would be something to feel guilty about. People - especially people with families and mortgages - can't afford to take a risk which isn't going to pay off. If someone is good, I'll tell them. If they aren't I'm not going to pretend they are better than they are. And if they can't take the criticism, then they definitely couldn't survive in show business."

She was not unlike Arlene Phillips on Strictly - not necessarily kind, but if she offered criticism it would be worth listening to.

I'm just catching up. Isn't that YouTube star tall?!

Very glad see Brandon out - he was too attention-seeking fir my liking.

Surprised that Elliot's effort was so poor.

As for the others - all amazing!

I think the 10minute face-off is neither nowt nor summat, though.

NurseButtercup · 31/03/2019 18:18

I'm really enjoying this program, I think this week (episode 4) was a massive massive reality check. Brandon leaving was the right decision. I think (hope) Ellis is going to win.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/03/2019 18:45

ELLIS! Not Elliot.

Thank you!

I got mixed up because I had just been talking about and Old English Sheepdog called Innes. (It doesn't take much to confuse me Grin ).

I was disappointed in Ellis this week - he is very talented but I think his insect lady face was a bit boring. Some of the others were incredible!

buzzbobbly · 07/04/2019 23:01

For no rational reason at all, I find my teeth clench every time they say the term "MUAs".
It just sounds weird.

But it is easy watching so I'll carry on!

instituute · 08/04/2019 13:40

@buzzbobbly oh me too!!!! I would rather they called them 'artists'.
Easier, shorter and doesn't sound so fake.

bruffin · 08/04/2019 17:31

I dont like MUAs either,

buzzbobbly · 08/04/2019 17:34

Hah! Seems there is a core of inexplicable dislike for the term Grin

workingparttime · 08/04/2019 20:05

It's just so pretentious. MUAs, maybe too many vowels

buzzbobbly · 10/04/2019 10:27

I am now also officially annoyed with Stacey Dooley's weird habit of saying "may you please" with every request or question.

buzzbobbly · 10/04/2019 10:30

Also that Val woman is really annoying (Ding. Fuck. Dong. Off). She makes the job sounds like a warzone paramedic. I mean, make up is important to the production, sure - but not being able to do a proper "crease cut" isn't going to be the death of anyone.

workingparttime · 11/04/2019 12:29

Val Garland is awesome! She's fun.

Please 'may' you is so annoying! It's false politeness.. my cousin does it even though she knows it's wrong but she thinks it's cute. Ack

Thebatmother · 11/04/2019 17:24

Couldn’t believe Nikki got to stay last night. That last round seems ridiculous. Nikki has consistently had huge issues around time management from the first episode but the first time Tiffany (think that’s her name) slightly underperformed, off she’s packed. So two great rounds counted for absolutely nothing because her yellow eyeshadow wasn’t exactly the right shade of yellow. So annoyed. Grrrrrr.

Sux2buthen · 13/04/2019 06:40

Agree, they must really want Nikki there, she's rarely even finished but Tiffany has been consistently good.
No offence to the 'shapes' make up they loved but...whet the hell!

BuzzPeakWankBobbly · 13/04/2019 12:15

Did any of you spy the outfits on the real life people attending fashion week?

It was like a comedy dress up party.

Thebatmother · 13/04/2019 20:03

Oh the ‘shapes’ make-up was hysterical. They didn’t even look nicely drawn on either. And the ‘real people’ sat on the front row looked like extras from a low budget post-apocalypse movie. I really felt bad for Tiffany though. That was not the right choice and the judges seem to know that.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/04/2019 13:54

I think that the make-up must be supplied by Make Up Academy (MUA) - it's pretty good stuff and quite cheap. They may be sponsoring the show and want the publicity.

Couldn’t believe Nikki got to stay last night.

Nor could I - It was a travesty!

I couldn't work out whether the really want her useless arse on the show for some reason, or whether they were desperate to get rid of her, but couldn't because on that 10 minute fanny-on with eyeshadow she had a bad spell and was minutely less adept than Little Miss Blend-it-like-Beckham who takes two hours to do an eyebrow.

Tiffany was robbed - no doubt about it.

Nikki would nevermore it in the real world if her performances on here are anything to go by.

(I also think it's farcical when the judges take out magnifying glasses to inspect a sponge of lipstick . . . and get oh-so-very-serious faces on.)

wednes · 17/04/2019 13:06

Stacey Dooley's accent is getting very upsetting! I think she's actually good in this.. but
