We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

This is the most mystifying bit, really. If you’re bed-sharing, consenting adults who have been around the block, own it. I can only conclude its to do with the time of day this was broadcast (i.e. watershed equivalent rules on content).

Watershed, maybe, I remember in WwwSecretary Kim they started to get their kit off on the bed then it cut to PSJ in full on pyjamas the next morning - I mean, wtf? Yet Park Min Young saunters in with just an oversized men’s shirt on.

Actually on Viki there is sometimes a ratings banner, which is usually 15 so maybe it depend on that

But who gets up in the night after unbridled passion to pop their pyjamas on? Or out their knitwear back on? Unless they never took it off 🤷‍♀️

How did Warm and Cozy shake down in the end? Is it worth viewing? I’m on the hunt for something new to fill the gaps between the stuff that’s dropping weekly.

Also, we cracked open the Godori deck I bought this morning. The rules are a bit onerous, but the most baffling bit is how the game is won. The enclosed instructions explain the dealing technique for different numbers of players and the rules for game play, but are completely silent on scoring and concluding the game. From the first 5 mins (all I could bear) of that godawful Anerican geezer vlog I posted upthread, it’s clear the different cards (“brights”, animals, ribbons and “junk”) have different values. Also, some of the animal cards (from the deck insert) do not actually have animals on them! And other animal cards are brights, rather than animals... 🤯 We’re going out for a walk now, and probably the pub too.

Happy Once More - done ! Very enjoyable, I liked the sticker chart for marriage and bespectacled girl's story (and squeeze !)

Snap! I thought exactly the same: there have been outraged AIBUs for significantly lesser offences.

As we are on a low screen time break (cough cough), I’ve just done 3 chapters of my Korean for beginners book, which have explained all the hangul characters, their sound (relative to position in a syllable or word order) and how they are written. I’ve got to hand it to King Sejong the Great - the logic of the Korean language is impeccable. ⭐️

Also, in trying to describe the lack of comparison in English of one of the double vowels it uisa/doctor as the example & I immediately knew the sound I needed to make - those many hours of Hospital Ship paid off!

Korean For Beginners by Kyubyong Park & Henry J Amen IV, ordered from UK Amazon. Gotta love Henry’s name.

Is the CEO’s secretary in Beating Again the same woman as FL’s business partner?

I don't think so, though she is listed as being in one episode of Happy. I had to freeze-frame the wedding vows at the end to make sure of the FL's BF's name to be sure, and it is different.

Ah, perhaps she was one of the clients at the match-making firm.

Ji Soo looks all wrong with big hair in the latest Netflix thing. I can’t work out if he’s lost quite a bit of weight or grown into his face, but he looks quite different in this. I wasn’t 100% sure it was him at first.

Not sure, Betty. I’m part way through episode 2 with no skipping, but it isn’t really floating my boat.

OK, the end of episode 2 has drawn me in. I’m now interested to see where it is headed.

Still so-so but I’m going with it. Ji Soo is like a great dane puppy in this, all gangly enthusiasm.

Beating Again is lighter than I thought it would be, as if they adjusted the scripts as they went along.
As ML obv normally plays MLs, I find it interesting that he did Prison Playbook where he is 2ML or at best joint ML
