We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

I’ve noticed there’s no consonant in the name Lee. This is Lee Seung Gi in hangul: 이승기 for example. The zero character at the start of a syllabic block is the ‘zero consonant’ used in a syllable that starts with a vowel. It’s the same vowel as in Gi in the third block above. Since I noticed it, I’ve been listening carefully in Psychometric because the ML’s character name is Lee Ahn & it seems to be pronounced as “ee”, not Lee. It makes me wonder why this is the settled romanisation, because it sounds quite different.

I love FL’s lilac coat in Psychometric. Such a shame it gets trashed by the heavy rain.

I’ve just started watching My Fellow Citizens (Conman crime family caper with Siwon) as I’m doing my usual 10 minute shuffle taster to mood match. It’s already hooked me in - Siwon on top mischievous form, excellent soundtrack, tight production, suspenseful. Looks good.

I thought they were a bit wobbly and out of synch with the dancing at the start but improved during the performance. It’s interesting how important the accuracy of their performance is for the wow factor.

I am really enjoying My Fellow Citizens. I loved the scene in the nightclub where FL’s shoe hits Siwon in the back of his head & he turns to see FL launch herself off the podium into a roundhouse kick. 👌 The whole staging of that scene was great. She’s shaping up to be a great FL in the badass, no prisoners taken/no fucks given tradition. I hope she doesn’t turn sappy later on.

Things have quietened down on the BTS front! Phew!.. I can just go back to my usual YouTube watching and the marvellous Bangtan Bombs! (little funny vid clips!) my Vlive notifications have been thankfully silent! (they've not been dropping unexpected teasers or holding any chats!) they're not trending on twitter! Phew! So I can just listen to album endlessly... And relax! 😂

On the kdrama front... Wok of Love is turning out to be lovely... From ep 6 it starts to pick up and am enjoying the story and liking the characters! Lovely Eyes is even more lovely! And he hasn't even got the Tousled Hair look! He really has a lovely vulnerability about him! Hmmmm! 😂
Viki kept going out of sync so watching it online now.. It's quite good really and worth persevering with! 😂

Also started watching Radio Romance... Quite intriguing... Got bad boy (my strange hero) / nice TA (id gangnam) in as Doctor friend to ml... 👍
