We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We are generally fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, film and kpop when the mood takes us. To get to grips with the lingo, try dramaloveaddicts.proboards.com/thread/24/korean-word-day?page=1

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

I’m enjoying He is Psychometric, though I just had rewatch the last 10 mins of ep 3 three times because I kept nodding off and missing important bits - like the 2 years elapsed...

Just been to my local Korean store for danmuji (long yellow pickled radish) for kimbap making this weekend. Lots of exciting things “fell in my basket” on the way round, including snack packs of seasoned laver sheets and enoki mushrooms so I can make Galbi Jjim (short beef rib stew) at the weekend. I also now have the fermented Korean soya bean paste that my favourite seafood jeon recipe calls for. Can you tell I went in hungry?

I also now have a proper Japanese-style electric rice cooker. We’ve had a lot of sticky rice recently. Grin

My Tip for perfect rice... However much rice you put in... After washing until water goes clear use the same amount of water plus 1!... . e. g. 2 cups of rice and 3 cups of water... 👍
My dd sees getting her first rice cooker as a rite of passage... I always tell her I got my very first one from my parents when I left for university!... I've been on the lookout for dinky rice cookers! 😂... Not much choice in the UK... When I was in Canada there was a HUGE array! 😂

I’m on ep 5, but I need to know. Does anyone EVER walk that poor dog in Psychometric? I can only conclude their living room rug is minefield of tiny dog poos and their smart new apartment reeks of widdle.

No one ever seems to walk that cute little dog in in Psychometric... the dogs in kdrama get pretty short shrift, they are either chained up outside or indoors lap dogs dressed in bizarre outfits (The Beauty Inside)

I have started The Big Issue but not got very far as diverted on to to first ep of her Private Life which was a bit meh I thought in spite of KJW who wasn't given much to do

I gave up on Wok of Love too in spite of Lovely Eyes from Just Between Lovers, I think I found the FL really annoying and the premise just didn't work somehow
