We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

Serendipity is one of my favourite tracks but I hadn't seen the MV for it, it's just lovely and Jimin is indeed very cute!

The mum in me automatically went 'don't put your hands on the track you'll get freezer burn!' for the Spring Day MV

You crazy ladies. 😂 OK, I listened to Spring Day twice on my way into work today, but still!

I am dipping back into I picked a Celebrity up on the Street for some light relief and laughter, because DotS is awfully serious. Celebrity is so enjoyable this far - some great lines and the kidnapper and her slummy neighbour have especially grown on me. ML is the butt of their jokes, which is funny because he’s used to celeb coddling and they have no truck with all that. I’m really enjoying it - so much so that I’m watching it with incomplete (97%, close enough 🤷‍♂️) subtitles. There’s a lot of physical comedy, so I more or less follow.

Oh yeah, I’ve been looking into hoidays and found a short (8 day) escorted tour of S Korea which incldes 2 nights in DAEGU!!! 😆

Hahahaha! If you’ve seen the ditsy girl cousin from Korea in Kim’s Convenience, you’ll have some idea of the FL’s TV appearance outfit in ep 8 of Celebrity. It made me laugh out loud. Definitely being played for the LOLS. I’m enjoying their commitment to the concept.

I love more delving interviews and portrayed past the glitz and glamour!... Watching them exhausted and knackered on stage and then giving their all! You're just 😱😱😱

DotS is quite angsty, which i think is why I've diverted on to music videos. I've been enjoying Celebrity too! The kiss scene in ep 4 was quite funny

I actually started... Into this world again... And although it looks really good... It just feels tragic!... And I love angst... But I don't do tragedy!... (there's a song title there! 😂)

Oh, that’s funny you are watching Celebrity too. I love the 2ML’s laid back vibe - it works especially well in ep 8, where 2ML gets progressively more chilled and smily whilst ML is wound tighter & tighter by the situation. 2ML for the win!!

Name me a drama where the 2ML ever got the girl 🤣

Bea the 2FL in Descendants was the FL in Fight My Way - took me ages to place her! It’s quite nice to have a romantic triangle/quadrangle that’s fairly straightforward

2.5bn times! Come on, that is astonishing. Korea has a similar sized population to the UK, so it must have been massive in neighbouring countries. Daebak!

Not very interested in the diamond sub-plot in DotS.

Thank goodness the ML & FL are on the same page - for the moment anyway - as there were too many lost chances & longing looks.
