We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We are generally fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, film and kpop when the mood takes us. To get to grips with the lingo, try dramaloveaddicts.proboards.com/thread/24/korean-word-day?page=1

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

Seconded. There’s a scene of him in a red and black stripy jumper which really suited him. I have high hopes for the smoochy stuff that comes later.

FL’s outfit in the dominatrix fantasy scrne is great. She is covered, as per normal kdrama requirements, but in a figure-hugging, saucy way. It’s playing within the rules, but taking liberties.

The Package also has a shit hot subtitling team, so an additional pleasure. The subtitles on I picked a celebrity up on the street have been somewhat erratic, but I’m getting the gist.

Our AppleTV is linked to DH’s account - and Viki. He was grumbling ealier about getting an update on his phone for the new episode of Celebrity. 😄

I am looking forward to bingeing The Package this weekend and then catching up with Celebrity. Going to eat & then go to pub tonight - DS home from university for weekend which is nice. Strangely not keen to catch up & finish Radiant & Touch Your Heart which says quite a bit.
Also want to start Dr Prisoner once I find somewhere to watch it.

Heeeelp! I am enjoying The Package waaay too much. I love the dorky lead’s whole vibe - his personality & whole approach to wooing is at least 1000 x more attractive than Sec Kim’s vice chairman. If we ever have to divide up the kdrama ML characters, this ML/character will be near the top of my list. My kids happened to walk in just as he was setting up the dehumidifier/humidifier battle and are now resolute in their opinion that kdrama is way weird and I have lost it. It pleases me that someone even thought of writing that scene into a script - that’s my favourite kind of random. 👍

I feel like I need to go back and rewatch the earlier episodes now I understand Mr Cheater and his young lady friend’s relationship better.

Maybe it’s his estranged daughter🤔

Restaurant couples story is sad. Haven’t worked out what is going on with young couple, always like the actor from P&P and You Are My Destiny

I know it’s probably amplified for effect, but some of the stuff around employer/employee relationships has been interesting - the expectation that if you book leave, you aren’t really expected to take proper time off, especially if you are new; the blacklisting etc.

Oh yes, and the contrast with French lifestyles & the August month off - gasp!

itsmehere1 I had lunch in the bibimbap place you recommended - it was a hit!

We had a Korean restaurant lunch today. I insisted, playing the Mothers’ Day card (we don’t eat on actual Mothers’ Day because everywhere is rammed). We had a bimimbap as part of our set meal.

There was music playing that I recognised from my kdrama Spotify playlist

DS2 told me he enjoyed the kpop on in the restaurant.

The Package was perfect. ⭐️

It seems there are a couple of othe Jung Yong Hwa (Package ML) series on Viki, both music based. Seems he is also lead singer, songwriter and guitarist in South Korean rockband CNBLUE, a rapper & producer. Off to spotify now for further research.

CNBLUE poppier than rocky, I’d say, but easy to have on in the background. His instagram isn’t nearly as fun or winsome as Lee Seung-Gi’s, but Lee has puppy-power.
