We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We are generally fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, film and kpop when the mood takes us. To get to grips with the lingo, try dramaloveaddicts.proboards.com/thread/24/korean-word-day?page=1

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

Important question: how long does homemade kimchi keep for in the fridge? My friend made a huge batch and gave us a box of it about a month ago. He said his recipe called for dried shrimps & I don’t want to poison myself, but I’m contemplating a Korean-style kimchi pancake tonight for dinner. This would seem to be the ideal opportunity to use it up.

I am down to the last 3 eps of Hospital Boat, but have plans this evening which will interfere with my viewing pleasure. Damnit!

I'm on ep 3 and while it is perfectly pleasant I am not sold on the characters yet and if it was an English language programme I would be doing something else at the same time.

Great speech from Dr Song on the value of everyone needing access to healthcare in ep 19 in her face-off with the eeeeevil Chairman of Doosun group. I like her ‘take no prisoners’ attitude.

That ^ should have said “value of universal” healthcare.

Yesterday’s dinner out in this Korean place in London Soho reminded me of you guys!! Bibimbap, chicken ramayeon, kimchi, ttaekbokki and some Soju to down it!

Also, while you are here I had a question about Korean names a page or so ago which would benefit from your informed insights... (Makes a change from us endlessly comparing the merits of ML and the suitability of ML/FL pairings.)

This is literally called ‘Bibimbap Soho’ - tasted yummy too. The place fills up soon and there was a long queue once we were in too.

I will check the earlier pages but I’m not Korean - maybe you’re confusing me with the poster who had given insights into K culture?!

Yeah! Sigh I’m just a normal K drama viewer. The husband and I drool over the food scenes shown in those series. Last week we said enough is enough if we aren’t planning a trip to a Korea this year, we might as well explore some Korean restaurants and that’s what we did

Nipping in to say that the saintly kangaroo care scene in Hospital Ship made my teeth itch. I am clearly far too much of a grumpy baggage to be so easily manipulated.

Aigoo! Had to close my eyes for the needle biopsy in ep 20. 😱

Had to wait until ep 8 for shower scene....and blimey does that ballet dancer ever play anything except jealous ex-girlfriends?
