I don’t get what you mean @chiefclerkdrumknott, about the ending?

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 19/03/2019 00:01

Tiger He noticed the pause/asides. She was freaked that he did. I’m not sure whether she is doing it in real life (in the programme) so he noticed or whether he has some sort of insight that notices her breaking the 4th wall.
I didn’t want to say too much in case others haven’t seen it yet

EnidButton · 19/03/2019 05:31

It's a masterclass in writing and acting. PWB is a genius.

Loved what KST's character said about women and the bit at the end was jaw droppingly good.

I really want her to fully corrupt Hot Priest but I don't think it's headed that way.

Hyacintharehighersincelasttime · 19/03/2019 06:59

I loved it when she looked at the screen when the psychiatrist asked her if she had any friends, yes she said and gave a little smile to the screen Smile

Hyacintharehighersincelasttime · 19/03/2019 07:00

her looks to the camera are all part of the beauty of the show.

Wetdogloveshubert · 19/03/2019 09:31

I can't wait for next week's episode - breaking the 4th wall and having him notice - WTF? We need MORE - what will we find out about this? PWB is a terrific writer.

BabiaMajora · 19/03/2019 10:55

Just caught up and I’m also a bit 🤔. Could it be that PWB breaking the fourth wall is her ‘talking’ to Boo?

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 19/03/2019 10:56

I’ve just clicked that The Priest isn’t named, just like Fleabag, and he’s the only one who has noticed her ‘going somewhere’. Everyone else in the series, including the Guinea pig, has a name as far as I can remember. Perhaps there’s something to that?

MarkleSparkle · 19/03/2019 10:59

Idk though - the guy with the teeth in the last series was called Bus Rodent in the credits and the hot one was Arsehole or Arsehole Guy I think.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 19/03/2019 12:12

Ah yes, so they were. I dunno, it just occurred to me as a bit of an oddity. Intriguing anyway!

I loved Belinda's speech about women and pain and lamenting her youthful allure. Great writing and beautifully acted

RitaFairclough · 19/03/2019 13:45

Lots of them don't have names. Godmother, and Dad, for example.

I thought the fox thing was really funny. Odd, but really funny.

GarthFunkel · 19/03/2019 13:45

Belinda was brilliant.
I am distracted by Andrew Scott's notice though. Not all of his face moves Hmm

Crashing is on Amazon Prime - that's good too.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 19/03/2019 15:06

I could have sworn they did - I think I must have named them in my head, somehow Blush

Callmesausage · 19/03/2019 15:11

I think it might be her talking to Boo as well.

EnidButton · 19/03/2019 17:18

She said friends plural though and "They're" always here. Pretty sure it's us, the audience. I think Hot Priest noticing is the first time someone's really got her since Boo died and the series and show might end with her not needing us anymore.

EnidButton · 19/03/2019 17:19

Just remembered the award moment. Grin It was so sudden! Fantastic timing.

EnidButton · 19/03/2019 17:21

That said ^ I thought it was Boo in the first episodes of series 1 so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I like that's it not all obvious and cliched like a lot of comedies, even dark ones.

RitaFairclough · 19/03/2019 19:33

Is it God? And that is why the priest realises?

Sitdownstandup · 20/03/2019 07:32

Does anyone else think Finnish Klare might have been the father of Claire's baby?

iklboo · 20/03/2019 07:36

Sitdown - yes that's what DH & I thought.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 20/03/2019 07:56

OMG @sitdownstandup

I have to say; I don’t know why but the fact he was called Klare (too) absolutely slated me.

I like what PWB does in moments like that, in Killing Eve too it was the moments of the absurd that - to me - put it above any “sharp and witty” series I’ve seen of late (looking at you Russian Doll/Mrs Maisel).

RedForShort · 20/03/2019 08:24

I hadn't thought of the 4th wall thing being her talking to Boo. Bit dopey of me!

Wondering if the priest notices her 'not being there' because he genuinely likes her and is he's set on having an 'uncomplex' relationship with her (due to his celibacy it'll be just about her as a person, or something someone more wordy than me mighr be able to explain).

All others have a complex relationship with her. Love/hate with sister, different wants/needs in sexual partners etc

RedForShort · 20/03/2019 08:29

Actually I think a simpler way of putting it is in their relationship, he likes her just for who she is. He doesn't want anything from her (other than her to be her) and is honest with her. Because of this he notices things about her other miss. They miss it because they want things from her and this distracts them from noticing her as a whole.

dogsdinnerlady · 20/03/2019 09:05

Pehaps Hot Priest who refuses to be seduced/changed is a channel for FB into a more spiritual, insightful way of being. So far she has been chaotic, amoral and lost which has impacted on other people - but HP will remain constant and unaffected by her chaos. As others have said, it might be a way of her making peace with what happened to Boo.

dogsdinnerlady · 20/03/2019 09:07

Becky in the TV Vanity Fair did the 'fourth wall' thing too. Very effective.
