Is it the last of series on Sunday?

As I say I'm playing catch up with endeavour but I watched morse first time around (one of the few programmes the whole family liked when I was a teen) and I may be imagining this but I seem to remember it being alluded to that it was Thursday turning corrupt that made morse so independent and distrustful of most other coppers especially more senior ones.

As I say I may be making that up retroactively in my head. But I do seem to remember morse felt it was as much a personal as a professional betrayal.

He never really trusted anyone did he? Possible exception of Robbie Lewis but Iirc he wasn't too keen on him initially even.

Graphista I have vague memories of similar, but feel as though I could be making it up as well.

They only made 32 episodes of Morse and Kevin Whately refused to make more than 32 episode of Lewis. If they are sticking to what has gone before - only 5 more to go!

I have watched all the Morse series at least three times (we have the DVDs) and I don't remember that with the name Thursday attached. I think there may have been some cases where the senior officer had sewn up a conviction too easily.

I think he trusted Robbie; he was just curmudgeonly by nature.

Endeavour/morse/Lewis (chronological order within the canon 😉)

I feel the need to rewatch Morse now as I have scant recollection of the series, if indeed I watched many of them. I have just tried 'googling' to see if I can find any more insights into the backstory but cant' find anything. Maybe I need to read the novels? Has anyone done so?

Thursday isn't in the novels - or if he is he is a forgettable side character. Morse's mentor was McNutt. I can't remember Thursday in the tv series either but I haven't watched it for years.

No Thursday in Morse but found this...
In the Endeavour episode Neverland, young Morse is told by DI Thursday (Roger Allam) to see out an Inspector McNutt as a replacement for when he retires. Inspector Morse fans know that McNutt will turn out to be Morse’s mentor – who is then bumped off in classic episode Masonic Mysteries.

Tomorrow night will be very bittersweet.

I have all the Morse DVDs, but that would mean I’d have to stand up to change the DVD after each episode. Pfft, I’m too lazy for that!

There are some episodes on the itv player, but not the full set.

We just watched last week's episode. I presume that the parallels between that and the Happy Families episode of Morse (the episode with Martin Clunes) we're deliberate as well as the factory episode?

Gosh, I can't believe how well some of you remember all the original Morse stories. I don't think I've watched them since they were on originally? Not sure I've noticed any on ITV Player - off to investigate...
