I'm just a little bit excited about the new series Grin

Didn't realise it was back so soon, I've just read ...... "The show’s officially due to return on AMC on February 10, yet it’ll be made available of AMC Premiere subscribers on February 3" ........ so does that mean its already been on and I can watch it tonight ?

I love Tara and I thought Enid had potential but they never did a lot with her. I was upset by their deaths. I did think it was clunkily signalled though - when Enid said she would make fun of her boyfriend for the rest of their lives there might as well have been a big glowing sign announcing that one of them was definitely about to die.

I found Henry massively annoying up til this episode. I commented halfway through this one that I was starting to like him so of course he had to die as well.

I was annoyed to immediately lose the Highwaymen so soon.

I really miss Tara already. She was a great character.

I don’t get the Whisperers’ perspective AT ALL. Why would you creep around the woods wearing zombie faces? I sort of got the Wolves as I could see some people would go totally nuts in an apocalypse scenario but the Whisperers are years into this now and civilisation is rebuilding. Even Daryl has finally taken a shower. Just hang up your zombie skins and go to a fair, for heaven’s sake.

furryleopard · 26/03/2019 09:55

I also don't really get the Whisperers, why would you stay with Alpha stinking with the dead? At least the Governor or Negan kept you safe however dubiously. She's not keeping them hostage so why don't they just go? I'd much rather go to the fair and try and have a semblance of normality.

For me they need to put the walkers back as the danger, not humans. I'd like them to leave the camps and move on now. I'm hoping this harsh winter is going to force them to move on.

TheDrsDocMartens · 26/03/2019 10:02

I liked Tara but they could have used her more. I liked Enid has grown up and was normal after her early episodes.
Quite happy to see Henry gone as he caused so many deaths!
The highwaymen seemed a waste as they had potential.

Want big bad Carol back now to kick ass 😃

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 26/03/2019 11:03

I woke up feeling really down today. Not as bad as when it was Glen and Abraham but nearly. It's not reeeeeal!

Red I thought it would be Carol!

I thought the highway men could be fun too.

I think for me it was awful not necessarily due to the characters but how it will impact the others. After a few years of living in isolation and not trusting they were just beginning to rebuild the community spirit again.

Alpha is so much worse than Negan. Never thought I'd say that!

Agree I want it to be Carol who takes her out.

"Even Daryl had finally taken a shower " GrinGrin

CanoeDoYouThinkYouAre · 26/03/2019 11:34

I've always enjoyed Samantha Morton in everything I've seen her in but this has to be a career low for her. The accent is appalling and the writing is so bad that even she can't make it work.

Surely Negan is the go to guy for tactics to take out the Whisperers.

You'd think that people would have realised by now that any talk of the future means certain death....

CombinationOfWords · 26/03/2019 14:48

Wow I'm a bit traumatised again after that. I really felt panicked when they captured Daryl etc that we would lose one of them, so wasn't expecting that at all! It was really moving, especially Daryl grabbing Carol, so similar to the last time and so sad even though I didn't like Henry. I just felt that Enid, Henry and the young ones were the promise of the future and the next generation so it's a real loss to the group even though I'm not that attached to them (God, it's not real!)
Tara I'm quite shocked at, just because it's losing one of our group, and with Jesus too, who will lead Hilltop? Maggie will have a shock if she ever gets back.
It was a good episode though, is next week the last of the series?

StormyLovesOdd · 26/03/2019 15:47

Yes next week is the last one in the series. Where is Maggie, I've forgotten ?

HJWT · 26/03/2019 17:04

Can I join? Just watched the episode, I'm pregnant and I cant get my heart to stop racing 😂 didn't have to kill the old lady poor sod 🙄

DrMidgeryMargery · 26/03/2019 17:33

Stormy Maggie just walked out with baby Glenn one day, it was very briefly mentioned in an episode around the time that Andrew Lincoln left. Lauren Cohen had contract disputes and conflicts with a new show she’s in. Dunno if that means she’s gone for good. Guess they’ve left it open for her.

I wasn’t sad about any of them getting piked to be honest. That makes me sound like a bit of a psycho, I’m not. At least I don’t think I am Grin but one of my favourite things about TWD has always been the unexpected killing off of major characters. No one is safe! Glenn and Abraham was great. Merle. Shane! So it’s always shocking in a ‘wowww Tara, Enid AND Henry!’ kind of way. Won’t miss them though, because they’re dull Grin

I’m not great with accents - is Samantha Morton’s really bad?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 26/03/2019 18:28

That's very true...I'm still expecting the sucker punch of one of Daryy/Carol/Michonne going. I'm not sure I could watch it again, I felt unsettled for days after Glen and Abraham Sad

Welcome HJWT!

yumyumpoppycat · 26/03/2019 21:37

yes I cried during the final scene too. I quite like how they sort of tricked us into thinking/hoping alpha had gone soft. I didn't watch most of the fair scenes I fast forwarded because I couldn't bear to watch all the oh we are so happy stuff knowing it was going to come crashing down. I think tara was a shame. I think the losses that will cause the most problems are the 2 teens (more than henry) as Lydia was resented enough just for being there.

BeanBag7 · 26/03/2019 22:09

I'm so glad TWD is back on track this season. I thought 7 and 8 were absolutely dire and I didn't even watch the second half of season 8. Daryl is back to having a proper personality, progress is being made through time rather than 2 week period taking a whole year and I think the time jumps were a good idea - I'm also not missing Rick one bit.

My main complaints are the behaviour of some characters - 4 of the leaders/ strong fighters wander off into the woods to look for a couple who are obviously dead? Who thought that was a good idea??

I also find it ridiculous that there are so many walkers still around. 10 years since the apocalypse and still enough for Alpha to have a herd of thousands? Seems unlikely...

I am enjoying this season much more than I have for a long time, however

BeanBag7 · 26/03/2019 22:10

Also thought it was interesting that the heads were all young people in the communities - Tammy Rose not so much, but she looked after a young baby. The highway men were kind of last minute additions but the "planned" victims were mostly teenagers.

8dayweek · 26/03/2019 22:24

Oooh that was a good episode. Loving Daryl this season. I'm glad he's getting more personality. I knew the shock deaths were coming but I was bit surprised by Henry - purely because I thought he was pivotal to the developing story line (provided you're substituting him for Carl, if that makes sense).

Montagu90 · 26/03/2019 22:36

I'm so pleased to find a thread on this!

All my friends and family in RL have abandoned TWD leaving me no one to gasp with at last nights episode!!

I knew trouble was coming but the way they shot the scene with the pikes was awesome-music really built up the tension and when Daryl shouted and grabbed Carol-flutter goes my heart!

Can't wait for next week now! And I agree, I'm not missing Rick (although I loved the character) as everyone else has stepped up.

RedForShort · 26/03/2019 22:44

I keep saying that about the number of walkers BeanBag7 (I think I'm pushing my husband to the brink with my complaining- he's somewhat less cynical than me!!)

I also get quite moany about the fact that there's a sudden explosion of animals. Prior to the time jump there were so few. Barely even a bird. Now there's heaps of them.

cushioncovers · 26/03/2019 22:47

That was a brutal episode Sad

PonderLand · 26/03/2019 23:41

That last episode was pretty good in comparison to the rest of the season but now I'm confused. I always thought Henry was going to replace Carl's story line from the comics, all that running after him and worrying about him and he just dies and to make it even worse they don't even show us exactly how it happened and instead it's shown like a flashback almost like he never mattered that much anyway.

Im gutted about Tara. She had a connection with the people of Oceanside, who can keep that going and keep it feeling like it's all part of one story and one group?

I like seeing familiar faces where there isn't that many anymore so for even more of the cast to be going is sad. I find it hard to get into any of the other new characters, maybe the show is making it difficult on purpose, maybe they'll dwindle it all down to the last remaining original (or nearly original) cast and have them start from scratch. I have read that michonne is leaving the series soon. I'm in the minority but I loved Carl and rick and miss them every single episode! It hasn't been the same since and they were the whole show for me. Negan needs to be released now, I can't believe I miss him. Why am I still watching this!?

Kitsandkids · 27/03/2019 07:12

I thought that was a great episode. But ... Daryl was alone with Alpha and could easily have killed her/pushed her off the rocks onto that herd. But no, he let himself be led around by her.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2019 07:28

I was thinking that about Daryl and Alpha - so easy to shove her off the cliff, but he knew the big dude had his friends and it would mean war. I do think Lydia should have screamed at the kingdom though.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2019 07:30

I don't miss rick exactly but it doesn't feel the same without him.

Oooh maybe a helicopter will come for Michone?!

Kitsandkids · 27/03/2019 07:48

Is there any news about when Rick’s specials/movies will be released?

CaptainBrickbeard · 27/03/2019 07:58

I don’t understand why there wouldn’t be a lot of walkers - every time someone dies they become a walker and there must be people dying all the time - walkers are a renewable resource.

HJWT · 27/03/2019 08:30

@CaptainBrickbeard obviously there would be a lot of walkers but that many in 1 state of america? I don't believe it!

Feels really crap now, like PP said why would 4 of the main characters go out at night into the woods? They aren't that stupid 🙄 its just become predictable so they think shit we better kill some people for the shock factor🙈

cushioncovers · 27/03/2019 15:31

I'm struggling to accept that without Rick is the new normal now.

Found the scene with Alpha and Lydia very tense felt sure she was going to kill her daughter.
