Thank you blonds.
I'd forgotten that Stu did, indeed, throw that guy into a lock of some sort. He has ' blurred lines'! We must not feel sorry for him.

SoupDragon · 25/01/2019 17:57

Will Phil kill Alfie if he finds him

We can but hope.

tobee · 25/01/2019 17:57

I don't think the cast are going to be that hard up.

Btw I didn't see Kush and Denise split coming. Do you reckon it's permanent? Is it just coz she's going to be 50? I'm 51 this year and if it had Kush as a boyfriend I'd think way to go, tobee. Grin

WonderWoman2019 · 25/01/2019 18:00

Will Phil kill Alfie if he finds him not if I see him or hear his crappy ringtone first Angry

sockportal · 25/01/2019 18:01

Thank you blondes!

Here is to wondering what will happen next month in Albert Square which is set in s different dimension; houses expand, people disappear and many return from the dead.

Drug dealers wear bright red coats over shorts and bra which scream look at me, I'm obviously not doing anything πŸ€”

I'm also wondering if Stu of the dead will get another clonk around the head that undoes all of his evil ways where he tends to the gardens in the square, works at the pop up food bank and minds all the kids in the square at once.

The80sweregreat · 25/01/2019 19:21

I love the idea of a ' reformed Stuart' doing good deeds!

Akire · 25/01/2019 20:07

Checking in... I almost forgot he tried to bump off the fall guy who he made confess to shooting Mik. He is so believable here have our MN award Stu!

Apart from Alfie story line nothing big is brewing. Unless Sharon comes back with a bump and it’s the menapause.

tobee · 25/01/2019 20:07

Doing my googling I found an old picture of Jamie Borthwick taking Jaqueline Jossa out in his open top bmw so presumably has done quite well out of EE. It will depend on the sort of contract his agent can negotiate for him, what things he is and isn't allowed to do outside EE. I don't know if he does panto? Also he could well have turned himself into a production company for tax reasons. Or for actually doing stuff.

The thing is that you tend to get well paid in show business but it's precarious work. Hopefully, the younger ones get good advice nowadays from EE, to invest money etc.

It must be a bit of a worry if a new producer comes in and decides to get rid of you. How many ex EE people have had lucrative careers afterwards?

The80sweregreat · 25/01/2019 21:37

Hardly any EE actor has done that well away from the square ; Ross Kemp did documentary's on gangs : Michelle Collins is currently on ch 5 doing a reality programme
She did a few dramas ( sunburn , 2000 acres of sky, all years ago)
A few have done strictly.
Mostly they just disappear or wait to go back in it ( from the dead)
Ian has never done anything else!

The80sweregreat · 25/01/2019 21:39

Ricky champ ( Stu) was in Game of thrones!
My ds2 is a fan. He said he 'wasn't in it long' I've never watched it.

youarenotkiddingme · 25/01/2019 21:44

Think the issue with Jay is all the people his character had storylines with have buggered off!

His character is funny and sweet and kind. A kids from a troubled background turned good.
The Abu and Jay storyline was great. Him and Billy was great. Him and Ben had a great bromance and he got in with others his age such as Lola.
Even him and Donna were great as both funny people.

Currently there's no 20 somethings for him to intergrate with and have storylines alongside. Hopefully they'll resurrect some of the characters and bring him in it more.

I'd love them to bring Donna back.

The80sweregreat · 25/01/2019 21:47

Jay has always been a ' bit part' really.
Bless him. The whole star sex offender thing was horrible and tainted his character ( not his fault ) and since then his just been hanging around the pub or in the background.

sockportal · 25/01/2019 22:26

Jay is my favourite character, and sadly so under used despite his talent

iknowimcoming · 25/01/2019 23:07

Thanks blondes GrinMy Alexa thingy was offering the headline today of ex-eastenders star rules out return to soap and it was bloody Michelle Collins aka cindy - I was like ffs seriously cindy died in prison years ago even eastenders couldn't cook that one up as a fake death Hmm

tobee · 26/01/2019 00:18

Love Jay.
Love Donna. Why did they get rid of her?

Was thinking about Nick Berry at one point looking like he'd have a good career after EE; made me wonder how Patsy Palmer is doing in L A.

EE has always done well with using already established actors, rather than the other way around. First with Wendy Richard and then with Barbara Windsor amongst many others.

I'm sure Adam Woodyat was in some factual thing about "the house of the future" when he was on a sabbatical. Must have been great fun knowing he was coming back to EE.

tobee · 26/01/2019 00:19

Don't you believe it @iknowimcoming

shineyshell · 26/01/2019 06:00

What a sweetheart Bronson is! Good acting too, earned his doggy biscuitsGrin
Enjoyed Kat and Phil shouting in the kitchen, 50k for that car!!? What was Phil thinking giving Alfie that much?
Hope Keegan's off the drugs now, be good for him having a little sister.

The80sweregreat · 26/01/2019 09:16

Bronson is huge! Considering they haven't any money he must cost a fortune to feed.
A few EE actors have been in the odd Hollywood film , but I agree that if they were more established before their soap roles then they were already well known ( barbara Windsor , mike Reid , Wendy Richard ) they then became even more famous doing this.
I guess a few go back to theatre acting.
If they bring Cindy back then I really will give up on it! I hated her character back then although she was married to Ian so maybe I shd be more understanding.. lol

SoupDragon · 26/01/2019 09:18

Did anyone see Danny Dyer on the One Show last night? They showed an old clip of him doing a theatre production and he was actually pretty good. Nothing like the ridiculous mockney shit he comes up with now.

He's doing some theatre production soon and I do think it would be interesting to see if he actually can act.

SoupDragon · 26/01/2019 09:21

Ian has never done anything else!

I suppose that if you're an actor who enjoys acting but doesn't really have much ambition, you'd stick with the solid reliable job if you enjoyed it. I wonder if he'd be able to do anything else now - I think I can imagine him in something like Holby or Casualty.

The80sweregreat · 26/01/2019 09:26

Soup, D D got his first break from Harold Pinter who cast him in ' the caretaker' which Pinter wrote. He was good, by all accounts, but I guess he then went onto do films and became a bit 'typecast' : he said he was on his uppers before EE came along in one interview.
I think he just stepped into the Frank butcher role. They like a ' softie / hard nut family man ' type. Phil does this a lot better but they need more than one I suppose.

SoupDragon · 26/01/2019 09:31

Phil actually seems to act though. I can't out my finger on what the difference between them is though.

The clip they showed of Danny Dyre had nuance and emotion, not something we see with Mick.

The80sweregreat · 26/01/2019 09:41

Phil is a brilliant soap actor , I see what you mean about DD : maybe he just does those type of acting as he can get away with it ; phone it in as they say.
His had a few domestic problems in real life maybe this has affected him? Who knows , but he is popular so I guess they want him to hang around to fill that landlord role. I don't mind the character myself.

I can't believe the amount of people that actually fancy him! His not my cup of tea at all. Never liked ' bad boy' types.

southeastdweller · 26/01/2019 10:02

Danny Dyer's done a couple of Pinter plays before he did E.E. I didn't see them but he wouldn't have been cast if Pinter didn't think he was up to the jobs. I'd love to see him in Pinter 7 ( the play he's doing now in the west end that Martin Freeman is also in) but I doubt I can afford the ticket.

The80sweregreat · 26/01/2019 10:05

South, London theatre tickets are so expensive aren't they? Factor in travel costs and maybe some food etc and it's a mega money day out. Last time I went was about ten years ago! Simply can't justify the cost.
