Did anyone else get a bit excited for the trailer for that?

Also now we have Silent Witness and LoD in the Horizom I may never leave the house.

Maybe he's left the GSD in guard and it will attack anyone who goes to his home to investigate? Although that wouldn't work as it would need feeding.

All this intrigue and my man concern is the dog!

purpleme12 · 04/03/2019 12:26

I agree about the hospital. It was weird how they weren't fussed. And I'm not one who's bothered about big plot holes

LillianGish · 04/03/2019 14:34

I’m wondering if the wheelchair man with Jessica Raine at the start of last night’s episode was another of Constantin’S victims— maimed to try and deter Jessica from her pursuit which is why she was apologising to him and also why she is so determined to get the rOmanians

The80sweregreat · 04/03/2019 15:41

I thought his wife has a tracker in her bag that the Romanian guy put in there?
I am a bit lost with a lot of this and I've been watching it all very carefully! How the wife got away from him is a mystery.
The hospital didn't seem to care at all that the boy had gone! ' oh dear , not my problem mate' was the attitude.

His daughter is so horrible to him ; I can see why but her hostility is full on!

beanaseireann · 04/03/2019 23:11

Does the Commander have a drink problem ?

ColeHawlins · 05/03/2019 00:55

Was what Edward Stratton said about Natalie true? Because I'm sure she said that he had broken her jaw - when was that supposed to have happened?

I think the idea is that she was lying about broken jaw and generally painting ES black, because she didn't want to hand back the money.

Yes. Good call @LillianGish I think you might have something there.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/03/2019 06:08

I reckon it could be a fellow police officer who has been very badly injured in the pursuit of justice?

LillianGish · 05/03/2019 08:05

The way she strokes his face suggests a more intimate relationship than a colleague, but the way the nurse wheels him away and Jessica thanks her suggests he is not her husband or any sort of legitimate next of kin type relationship. Maybe someone she was having an affair with?

GoldenSyrupLion · 05/03/2019 18:53

She's an alcoholic, Bean.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/03/2019 19:09

LillianGish I agree. When she first sat down next to him there was a tenderness to the way she spoke to him that made me think husband/partner, so I was shocked when the nurse came to collect him and 'Jessica' didn't kiss him goodbye.

Yes, Baptiste's ex was seen adding some alcohol to her coffee/tea in the first episode (when she was working very late).

beanaseireann · 05/03/2019 19:29

GoldenSyrupLion
Was it said straight out or were we to infer ?

MaddieElla · 05/03/2019 21:23

Love Stratton in this. He looked genuinely panicked and terrified in that episode.

GoldenSyrupLion · 05/03/2019 22:24

Every time we see her on her own she's swigging vodka. It's not subtle.

storminabuttercup · 06/03/2019 08:55

Is anyone else having to watch each episode twice?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 06/03/2019 09:16

I often do, storminabuttercup. Things are usually clearer second time around Wink - for me anyway!

thenightsky · 06/03/2019 09:35

Oh storm I'm glad its not just me!

Defenestrator · 06/03/2019 10:43

Ha I have to watch them twice and come on here for an explanation!

beanaseireann · 06/03/2019 16:29

Where do you get the time to watch twice?
I can barely have time to watch once. Smile
But I know the wise and kind Mumsnetters can fill in the gaps for me.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/03/2019 21:50

Don’t have time to watch twice

But I do have subtitles on as they mutter

Plus love the recaps to mention things I miss

HalleLouja · 07/03/2019 15:53

I almost thought they might tie it all up in that episode but am assuming we have a couple left.

Edward isn’t completely dodgy and it showed how he didn’t have to act when he was having a panic attack in episode 1.

I did get Niels being Julien’s son. The cups together was hardly subtle.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 07/03/2019 17:33

Right, just before the end of episode 3, Edward is talking on the phone - he says something about Matty (isn't that the name of the poorly grandson of the tulip farmer?). If so, still not entirely convinced he's telling the whole truth to Julien.

AuntieStella · 07/03/2019 20:27

There are 6 episodes.

Think we have to assume no-one is truthful

And that includes Natalie. Kim/Dragomir might be attempting to retire, but she was a nasty piece of work and senior/notorious amongst the Romanian gang. Natalie knew the new identity - why? Trusted? Must have been, or she'd never have known about the money movement (don't believe her cover story for that). Does she even have a sister?

Why was Number 6 so very terrified? Given how much Constantin loves his work, I stared to wonder about snuff movies

SalliSunbeem · 08/03/2019 08:27

Have given up with this, too complicated and drawn out.

ColeHawlins · 08/03/2019 08:33

It's the normal Williams brothers structural tricks.

In The Missing they did it by chopping the chronology into confetti and reassembling it in a way that maintained the suspense.

In Baptiste, they are doing a similar thing; Leaving the chronology in tact this time but using smoke and mirrors to misdirect the viewers so that precious scenes and episodes need to be constantly re-evaluated.

It IS hard work for the viewer, but it's interesting.

I think I'm going to watch the first three episodes again as a block.
