Can you believe we are on thread 50! This is for all discussions on the BBC series Our Girl and any possible future series. Reference to Captain James is particularly welcome.

I think that episode was definitely the most forgettable of the whole seven. It really does get better as we go along thank goodness. The fashions as you both mentioned really something to behold. Strange how quickly we forget these things that probably seemed OK at the time.

As for recognising the actors I found this a really fun as I went along. Also found myself googling some of them and found out a couple of RL romances and marriages for some of them who met on Soldier Soldier. Didn't get any of that happening on OG

Just caught up with your comments, ladies, and can't WAIT to watch now for those flowery shorts and big hair. Grin

Ilovelblue · 31/01/2019 23:22

You are so in for a treat eejit.

By the way, the Gandhi film didn't have a very good review I noticed in the Guardian. It's not showing at either of my two big cinemas but it was on for two days (yesterday and today) 30 miles away in Manchester. Just two days! I will have to see if it appears on DVD in a few months. :(

Ohh Smurf’s ina film that’s new on Netflix. By which I mean, Iwan Rheon in the film Hurricane is now on Netflix. WW2 film about Polish pilots. Either that, or Smurf never died but instead left, time travelled and jo8ned the RAF. Grin

eejittwo · 01/02/2019 21:38

I see what you mean, ilove, though the reviewer doesn’t mention LP, unless he is one of the overemphatic supporting turns. But then, the reviewer is male ...

Ilovelblue · 01/02/2019 23:04

Is the film showing anywhere near you eejit? I will just have to see it if and when it comes out on DVD. I'd only be watching it for LP anyway!

How did you get on with the Soldier Soldier episode? Flowery underpants and boxing?

OP posts:
eejittwo · 02/02/2019 08:16

Can't see it listed for any cinemas near me - DVD here we come. Haven't watched Episode 4 yet - been a busy few days and I spent most of last night trying to fix problems with the laptop. Technology - boo!

eejittwo · 02/02/2019 22:05

The flowery pants are, indeed, a sight to behold. The episode as a whole wasn't as meh! as I'd expected, but maybe that is because it's a rugby weekend and I've been cheering on men beating each other up over an oval ball! Grin

PS - SuzuSooz is up to Chapter 7 with Ghosts. It IS good.

Ilovelblue · 04/02/2019 23:32

eejit I do like Ghosts. There are some really great fanfics out there at the moment. TG eat your heart out.

I saw a couple of rather tasty photos of LP on Twitter before. Presume it was rehearsals for his play in London (sadly too far away for me to go and see).

Are we on for tomorrow night, then?

Ilovelblue · 06/02/2019 21:59

Certainly eejit. Looking forward to it!

I had to do a home visit (for a charity) yesterday across the other side of town. It's not an area I need to go to very often and it certainly made me think of OG - remember Georgie's comment about "six months regimental duties in Preston....." Well, I was practically next door to the barracks there. I did eye up a few of those in green combats but sorry to say, there were none even vaguely resembling CJ (or Elvis).

Evening ladies - ready and on parade for episode 5 (thank goodness the boxing is over!)

Rhubarb01 · 07/02/2019 21:00

And here we ….pressing start...now

Ilovelblue · 07/02/2019 21:01

Sorry, am here.

Now here we are doing the mine drill...remember Molly...how could we forget!

Rhubarb01 · 07/02/2019 21:01

Whoops - not funny in Afghan mate.

Ilovelblue · 07/02/2019 21:02

The landmine procedure is just like Molly did in the first OG series when she went to rescue Smurf.

Goodness look at the neat little video camera, things have moved on slightly in the last 25 years. Joy doesn't half like that sweat shirt.

Rhubarb01 · 07/02/2019 21:04

Meanwhile, watch out you've got the nasty s*d in charge. Cor..that's what you call shouting.

Rhubarb01 · 07/02/2019 21:04

Sergeant Major gets about a bit, doesn't he. Looks like he's enjoying a little encounter with his mate's wife.

Ilovelblue · 07/02/2019 21:07

What a bully this sergeant major is.

I can't remember the name of the blonde TA guy but he was in something with John Clees and Alison Steadman recently.

The other guy is a porter in Holby City!

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 07/02/2019 21:07

So, here are some more familiar faces - Jesse Birdsall in the flashy shell suit and the blonde one I always think of as the competitive teacher from the posh school in 'Nativity'.

Rhubarb01 · 07/02/2019 21:08

Ok , sounds like we both know his face, but the name escapes us. Sergeant Freddie has got anger issues.

Ilovelblue · 07/02/2019 21:09

The cocky TA guy (Terry) is hardly Elvis or CJ, is he?
