Took the liberty of starting a new thread. Hope the title suits!

Who on earth is that dancing with Aliona in that 2nd jive Gareth?

Theromanempire · 26/11/2018 12:54

That second jive had so little jive content in Confused I miss Artem!!

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 26/11/2018 12:54

I like this one too:Ballroom vs. Latin!

Binglebong · 26/11/2018 12:58

I liked Chris Hollins's Charleston. Grin

CassandraCross · 26/11/2018 13:02

That's it Binglebong you are off the Christmas Card ListGrin.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 26/11/2018 13:03

Curbside Theromanempire it's funny isn't it! I've watched it back a couple of times and there are some good moments but they're mostly swamped by the lapdancing club vibe Shock Grin

Thursday could it be one series wonder little Jared Murillo?

I included it because it featured Aliona woo and Artem!

I'm trying to dig up some Pasha and/or Artem routines. Also Kristina and Natalie. There don't seem to be many on YouTube apart from the ones I've linked to on previous threads. I recall lots of beautiful routines performed with the guest singers on the results show but it's tough to unearth them. Perhaps a copyright issue.

GrumbleBumble · 26/11/2018 13:17

I'm sure that when Paul Daniels was on I read somewhere that they didn't go for the couple and have the "lovely Debbie" on because of her professional dance background but that might have been speculation rather than fact.

I don't dislike Ashley (I know very little about her) I very much liked Debbie but I didn't vote for her and I won't vote for Ashley. It's not her fault and as PPs have said she is in a no win situation but anyone that has professional dance experience in their background and anyone with any ballroom/latin training shouldn't there (OK six lesson aged 7 might just about be allowable).

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 26/11/2018 13:28

I think they couldn't have both Paul Daniels and Debbie on because they were doing a Westend show while Paul was also doing SCD, so Debbie had to do all the preparation and set up of the tricks so that Paul could maximise training time.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 26/11/2018 13:32

The beginning of my least favourite era of Strictly but this dance is impressive. The graphics are pretty effective for once!

Could do with a little less Kevin gawping and a more close ups of the other male pros Wink I love Trent and Natalie at 1:25, they look like creepy twins!

FuzzyCustard · 26/11/2018 13:47

FIVE pages already? I'm too slow. (I am the Scott Mills of getting on the new thread)

PawneeParksDept · 26/11/2018 14:44

@Binglebong

Yes! Jackson wasn't so much beaten by Gough as handed it to him

Do you remember that the scandal with Len?

He called Colin airy fairy basically outing him compared to "Mans man" macho Darren!

OP posts:
Binglebong · 26/11/2018 14:54

Oooh I'd forgotten that! I can remember for the first episode they bejewelled Gough's tattoo though. Grin

EvilRingahBitch · 26/11/2018 14:57

I am also deeply scarred by the memory of Colin’s showdance but I don’t think it lost him the title, I think he’d lost that final weeks before: Gough had it in the bag because the “big butch sportsman embraces his inner dancer” storyline was so novel at that point that the GBP fell for it in their millions. Colin could have done Tom Chambers’ showdance and he’d still have lost.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 26/11/2018 15:02

I wish I'd seen that series!! And Alesha's! I used to be really snobby about Saturday night reality tv. I was in my 20s and had better things to do like go out all the time Grin
I decided Strictly must be cheesy rubbish without watching a single clip. Curse my younger self Grin
I can't think what changed my mind, possibly watching a Christmas special and realising how mesmerising the pros were!

kazzaD66 · 26/11/2018 15:13

Thursday I couldn't see who it was dancing with Aliona, someone in a bad Elvis or Prince wig. The camera only went on him for a second at the end and it looked like Anton Confused
Looking forward to seeing Graeme and Oti on ITT tonight, although I wish it was under different circumstances Sad I've only just seen their carpool karaoke on Oti's instagram - they certainly looked like they were having a great time! Grin

House4 · 26/11/2018 15:13
Glitterball
PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/11/2018 15:14

I didn't actually mind his showdance! I prefer it to hip hop or rolling around on the floor contemporary-based ones. It was designed to show he could dance on his own, and he was never going to be able to throw Erin around the way Darren could with Lilia. It was just a bit... too different I think.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 26/11/2018 15:19

It would probably fit right in with current Strictly and receive high praise for innovation!

kazzaD66 I guessed Jared Murillo with Aliona but am prepared to be wrong! Based on hair colour and build. Let us all hope it wasn't Anton. He'd be sitting on one of the chairs for the duration of a latin routine Wink

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/11/2018 15:20

I think it was Jared too. I noticed how "easy" it looked when Brendan was dancing, the new ones make everything look like it's so much effort!

Binglebong · 26/11/2018 15:21

Gareth i missed the first few seasons for the same snobby reasoons. I looked down on it so much.

I was a fool!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/11/2018 15:22

I like , although the less said about the shirts the better I think!

SuperSuperSuper · 26/11/2018 15:25

I think that the powers-that-be need to avoid hiring professional dancers as 'celebs' in future. The viewing public has made its view clear on that this week - there's is a real sense of unfairness. I've nothing against Ashley personally (on the contrary, she's very nice) but she's not really what the show is about. I understand that we don't want a whole bunch of Susannahs, but there's a happy medium somewhere.

I think that the press attention on their personal lives has been worse this year. Usually, tabloid features pass me by but even I know about Seann and Katya, and the rumours about Joe/Dianne and the nasty little hints about Faye and Gio. It would put many a celeb off! It adds nothing for me.

EvilRingahBitch · 26/11/2018 15:28

Season 5 was very entertaining but we shouldn’t be too rose-coloured. Dominic Littlewood was a creep who outstayed his welcome. Gabby was robbed in the dance-off so Penny wouldn’t be evicted before Rod Stewart did the RESults show. Kenny wasn’t nearly as funny as he thought he was (IMO). Len was an utter bastard to Kelly as her father was dying. Arlene increasingly offered nothing except alliteration and letching over the hunks. Tess got all gushy about how romantic Matt and Flavia were while Flavia’s fiancé was standing right there Tess. And the judges stitched Gethin up like a kipper to keep him out of the final. (A dance-off in a 3 person semi-final is an invitation for rigging).

OTOH as a confirmed Alesha/Matthew shipper (yes, I know, so what?) it was the Bestest Series Evaah.

OublietteBravo · 26/11/2018 15:59

I think season 8 was my favourite.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 26/11/2018 16:15

Binglebong glad I'm not alone although sorry you missed out too! Why oh why can't they put past series on iplayer Angry

Polkadots the green shirts are everything aren't they. Particularly like James Jordan's sleeveless number Grin Actually his arms are amazing Blush but it looks so funny when the others are in sleeves. Did he demand it? Grin
