I always think of it as The Department. It needs capital letters...

Missbel · 28/11/2018 09:05

Delighted to find a Neighbours thread - I don't know anyone else who watches it - my kids got me started, many many years ago and now it's become part of my routine - a bit of sunshine and pottiness to brighten each day!

I just wonder why it never occurred to me to ask complete stranger to live in my house and look after my small children for free... I like shortbread as much as the next half-witted person Biscuit

CurbsideProphet · 28/11/2018 12:12

Missbel the residents of Erinsborough are very trusting, despite the recent strangers who have turned out to have ulterior motives - Hamish, Andrea, Cassius, Walter...

Missbel · 28/11/2018 12:31

Thank you Curbside...I shall know where to go if I ever want to hatch out a particularly nefarious plan!

costacoffeecup · 28/11/2018 13:11

Finally Elly has been called out on her inappropriate schoolwear. Almost like the writers are reading this...

CurbsideProphet · 28/11/2018 13:55

I loved the moral outrage that Susan and Ellie worked at the same school, while Jane got the job because of a friend at The Department (WhiteVixen it's always in capitals for me too!) Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/11/2018 14:02

What baffles me about nanny Alice-The-Hand-That-Rocks-The-Cradle and her shortbread is that no-one has spotted her buying the shortbread or bringing it into the house, and neither Toadie nor Sonya has seen the packaging in the bin - do they never throw things away in their own kitchen?

And how is it that no-one else has been poisoned by her special sugar? She dusts it liberally around the place - surely someone else would have picked up one by now?

TheWashingFairyatemyhamster · 28/11/2018 14:11

Am at a conference and have just attended a session run by someone who looks alarmingly like Kate Ramsey. No sparkly bowler hat however.

Missbel · 28/11/2018 16:58

I'm also puzzled by the fact that no-one has noticed that Alice-THTRTC's eyes are steadily getting more and more bloodshot and red as her evil machinations deepen!

Smidge001 · 28/11/2018 17:07

And her secret drinking. Her pantomime knocking back of the hip flask hidden in her pinny, followed by the head back cackle appears in every episode. It's getting up there on my bingo chart like old Eyebrows' gurning.

woodhill · 28/11/2018 18:41

At least an office has appeared in EH again.

Yes, great decision employing a thief and liar at the school

KittyMcAllister · 28/11/2018 21:32

Can I just say Elly's hair extensions look REALLY rubbish and cheap (though I bet they're not).

Loving Alice's cartoonish villainy (if only she had a moustache to twirl) and how anyone who was paying attention would realise she was super dodge within 2 seconds. Luckily she's trying to fool the Rebecchis, not the brightest gene pool.Grin

Think my least fave character for a long time is Dipi. She literally has no redeeming features.

MiddleClassProblem · 28/11/2018 21:58

😂 Alice’s drinking. I keep thinking she must reek of booze.

I reckon they haven’t found the boxes of shortbread because their in the bin and Sonya recycles everything so they never go near it.

CurbsideProphet · 29/11/2018 09:04

Alice always has perfectly baked biscuits, but never any mixing bowls etc left out. Yashvi must be the most selfish teenager ever to not be concerned how Alice speaks to her Confused

Walney · 29/11/2018 10:41

I have never warmed to Dipi, she is far too quick to judge and anger. A lot of her anger towards others is usually as a result of her 'protecting' Kersha so I do feel sorry for Kersha sometimes.

I keep thinking the same about Alice and smelling of booze, you would think they could smell it on her breath as they talk straight after she's had a sip from her hip flask. I still think Alice is great and a highlight for me at the moment.

TheEfficientBaxter · 29/11/2018 11:26

I was feeling quite low this morning, until I read this thread. The last few posts actually made me laugh out loud.

Some of you write brilliantly funny synopses, and reading them is even better than watching the actual show sometimes! Grin

Notreallyhere23 · 29/11/2018 14:45

I used to have a boss that I thought was alcoholic but it turned out to be the antibacterial hand gel that the office had installed- perhaps they think Alice is just super clean.

MorningsEleven · 29/11/2018 19:45

I can't believe that Dr BooBoo didn't find out about Chloe's Huntington's during one of Karl's confidentiality breech incidents and blan it to Muscles BooBoo and the goldfish.

tobee · 30/11/2018 02:34

I'd forgotten from her last visit that Jane was such an unappealing personality. I used like her back in the Scott and Charlene days.

Also, Aaron and David have been annoying me enough recently and then Aaron was a complete arse to Chloe about the Huntingdons. Angry

MiddleClassProblem · 30/11/2018 14:25

Bit behind but loved Paul’s nepotism comment 😂

And why didn’t Alice just nick the envelope without knocking Piper our whilst she did the alarm. Less dramatic but same result...

CurbsideProphet · 30/11/2018 15:05

@TheEfficientBaxter you're not alone in thinking this thread is more entertaining than the prog itself at the moment!

MrsSpenserGregson · 30/11/2018 15:11

I have nothing to add but I just wanted to say hello to @TheEfficientBaxter Grin

Sorry for the derail

zizza · 30/11/2018 15:55

Hello all - I dip in and out of this thread and the spoilers one (my lips are sealed). Came on to see if everyone else was being as wound up as me by Alice - even my dh keeps shouting at the TV and he only half watches it. The extreme change in accent, talking to Hugo (like nobody else could possibly hear her, and even her facial expressions change. Bleh! The sooner she gets found out the better

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/11/2018 15:59

Doesn't baby Hugo have such gorgeous bright blue eyes?

TheEfficientBaxter · 30/11/2018 17:26

Yes, Brillo, he certainly does!

I'm getting the urge to bake some shortbread this evening.

And I really want to skip lightheartedly around the kitchen, cackling evilly, while it's in the oven.

Should I?
