Shiny new thread - my apologies to Satsuma for the title, you are the minority!

How do! Thanks for the new thread.

Encyclo · 19/11/2018 15:15

schaden 😂 (response to my comment about being accidentally spoiled)

100 years ago no man would ever have considered marrying you after that Encyclo. You had a narrow escape being born into a more enlightened time.

GrouchyKiwi · 19/11/2018 15:20

Thanks for new thread, Pawnee.

OublietteBravo · 19/11/2018 15:21

Hello. Glitterball Glitterball Glitterball

CassandraCross · 19/11/2018 15:28

Loving the new thread title but there at least twoShock posters who may be a tad miffedGrin.

PawneeParksDept · 19/11/2018 15:29

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar

I do know what you mean, but my DM used to call him BBC Boy and say he was shoved down the viewers throats

I always wonder what really happened with Ola and Steve🤔

OP posts:
PawneeParksDept · 19/11/2018 15:30

@CassandraCross

I almost went with JOVERMARKED perhaps the next one

OP posts:
Theknacktoflying · 19/11/2018 15:36

I’m sorry Kate went ...

There was some serious overmarking ...

PawneeParksDept · 19/11/2018 15:43

I found it odd that Kate went considering Graham has been bottom two 3 times and so obviously doesn't have the votes

OP posts:
SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/11/2018 15:48

Aaaah!

Nice shiney new thread.

DarlingNikita · 19/11/2018 15:51

Place mat king. I didn't mind Hollins. I liked how he called Ola Olachops and I like to think they're still good buddies.

I'll miss Kate but she didn't seem to be getting much better. Although it's a bit unjust that she was booted and Lauren stayed after such a poor AT.

I may be alone in not liking Ashley's jive. Sure, she danced it well, but the styling looked stop-starty to me. Quite hard to watch. I'm tired of Joe too. He's so uncharismatic. Charles was excellent but I don't think he's got any more party dances left to do, so I fear for him.

Spot on

Checking in!!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/11/2018 15:57

I quite like watching Joe and Dianne reacting to their dances on his vlog. He was just as surprised and puzzled as the rest of us that he got a 9 for that Samba. He was happy, obviously, but still surprised. He is definitely being overmarked, it's either something subjective and subconscious eg Bruno fancies him, Shirley is reminded of her son etc, or it's a deliberate thing so that it won't look quite so 'wrong' when he wins, as he surely will.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/11/2018 15:58

JOVERMARKED is also a good title Pawnee

You have found your vocation. Grin

I knew Kate would go out against Graeme, even though his dance was RUBBISH!, because I think

a) he does have slightly stronger fanbase than Kate, and

b) despite their proud boasts of "we judge only on what we see on the night", and "we look for improvement in accordance with our comments/ advice", the judges have been picking the ones they want - whether it's to curry favour with the Bosses (like the Year That Penny Lancaster Was Kept In In Preference To Louise Redknapp Even Though Penny Was Absolute SHITE And Louise Was Amazing!) or because they think they'll pull viewers in. I'd always felt that they favoured the Swanney/ Oti combination.

SheStoodInTheStorm · 19/11/2018 16:00

Hello! Glitterball

Does anyone know why they no longer swap between Latin and ballroom each week?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/11/2018 16:02

Sheer bloody-mindedness Storm

It was much better the old way - two different dances each week, and a swap the following week/ later in the season.

ApolloandDaphne · 19/11/2018 16:06

I like it with all the dances mixed through. I thought it just got boring the other way.

Theknacktoflying · 19/11/2018 16:15

This couple choice dance has really gives the couple soing it a freebie pass to the next round ...

I know they are doing two dances this week - the lindy hop a thon as well as - but from now on is it two dances?

shumway · 19/11/2018 16:19

Schaden - do you mean Gabby not Louise?

PawneeParksDept · 19/11/2018 16:40

I see your Penny L vs Louise R
@SchadenfreudePersonified

and I raise you Emma Bunton vs Louisa Lytton

The favouritism that year was so bad that Brendan and Craig went HANDBAGS AT DAWN on ITT

and poor Louisa who did an extremely memorable quickstep and jive had to do an "I'm ever so humble to even be smelling the farts of Emma Bunton, I'm so relieved that I didn't put her out" schtick Hmm

OP posts:
PawneeParksDept · 19/11/2018 16:41

Yes were Penny and Louise the same year ?

Penny was on it with Ian who hasn't danced on it in about 5 years

Louise was only 2 years ago

OP posts:
TheDrsDocMartens · 19/11/2018 16:45

I’m hoping Ashley is the surprise one out in the Semi. Final :Stacey, Joe, Faye and Charles.

CassandraCross · 19/11/2018 16:49

SchadenfreudePersonified It was Penny Lancaster v Gabby Logan in the dance off and the judges saved Penny (not at all because Rod was in the audience oh no, no, no and due to sing on SCD the following week).

'Twas the season Alesha won and Gabby and Kenny Logan were both on the show paired with James & Ola Jordan respectively - Kenny went further in the Show than Gabby much to Gabby & James' frustrationGrin.

kazzaD66 · 19/11/2018 16:55

I'm another who liked Chris and Ola Chops. Everyone including them knew they (he) weren't the best dancers but he clearly wasn't a ringah understatement of the year and they were good entertainment value. And poor Ola deserved it after having to put up with the tosser that is Andrew Castle. Ricky Whittle always seemed to look as if he was expecting to win but in the final, he messed up a lift in the lindy hop, he still hadn't corrected his sickled feet (it can be done cos Harry Judd did it) and he was up against Chris' crowd pleasing charleston, plus Chris and Ola's showdance was good cos it took the mickey out of him and his (lack of) dance skills.
