Ok, I can see I agreed to do next Thursday - you see I remembered it was a Thursday, I just didn't get to grips with which Thursday it would be. Not a problem.

eejittwo · 26/10/2018 17:49

Hello ladies. Have any of you seen this article on the BBC News webpage www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/Iraq_legacy_of_war about PTSD. It gives some insight into possible storylines - and why Molly and CJ may have split but, more importantly, suggests that Georgie would have been suffering PTSD as much as anyone after Bones was blown up.

Bonnefoi · 27/10/2018 12:11

I can see the parallels but I think, and this is just my opinion, that TG has broken OG. I was with it up to and including the Belize and up to the point Bones went boom! 🤦🏽‍♀️ When I laughed at that supposed moment of high drama, I probably should have stopped watching. Confused

It’s not even the acting, because it’s still so good. Particularly BA. The story went so beyond believable after that it was like they’re not even soldiers anymore.

CG/G romantic relation which I hated anyway, I just can’t seem to get my OG groove back.

Magi84 · 27/10/2018 12:40

Bonnefoi I have lately been trying to fix in my mind my current feelings about OG and on reading what you say I realise that is exactly it. You have expressed it perfectly - it feels like I have lost something I had enjoyed for so long. I honestly don't think there is any way back from it either😥

eejittwo · 27/10/2018 13:17

I think what we are collectively saying is that great schools of sharks were circling OG and, instead of staying safely on shore, TG went and got his water-skis on and jumped the whole lot.

kazzaD66 · 27/10/2018 17:14

I was so disenchanted with the last series, esp the final few eps, that I would rather not have any more OG. The ridiculous storylines, the complete trashing of CJ's character and, to a certain extent, Lane aswell just ruined it for me. The only thing I would want to watch would be along the lines of some of the great ff stories, whereby it is made clear that CJ had PTSD and that this led to a lot of his actions, how he then (properly) deals with this, which of course would mean kicking Lane into touch and working towards a reunion with Molly. Obviously, this is not going to happen, so I'd rather see nothing at all Sad

kazzaD66 · 27/10/2018 18:44

And, as usual when reminiscing about CJ and Molly, I play London Grammar CD whilst preparing dinner Grin

Bonnefoi · 27/10/2018 19:25

Love London Grammar. I have an OG playlist on Apple Music, when I want nostalgic feels.

Eejittwo Question is: did he splash down with the sharks, or clear the danger? I’m thinking the latter. Grin

Bonnefoi · 27/10/2018 23:30

In other news Titan is now on Netflix. I believe Ben has a part in it. No idea how big a part, but it’s list on his IMDB.

eejittwo · 29/10/2018 22:37

Ladies, have any of you seen this story? Forget Our Girl. It's coming back as Our Dog, how a labrador (perfect for that big house in Bath) helps CJ put his life back together. Georgie's PTSD could use some canine help as well - what sort of dog do you think would suit her?
Which reminds me - there's a complete absence in both series 1 and series 3 bits in Afghanistan of sniffer dogs. Surely they could have sent a dog into that warehouse to check out that backpack instead of Elvis?
[It's something I notice in many tv series - the absence of animals in situations which would be covered in dogs / cats / aquariums / cage birds. When did you last see people in a sitcom trying to get the dog or cat off the sofa so they could sit down?].

eejittwo · 29/10/2018 22:52

Helps if I add the link www.bbc.co.uk/news/45958694

Magi84 · 30/10/2018 08:16

Thanks for the link eejit. What a heartwarming story. Hadn't thought about the fact that dogs, which the army do deploy in many situations, were nowhere to be seen in OG. Just ANOTHER lack of realism on their part maybe!

Ilovelblue · 30/10/2018 12:10

What a beautiful story. It brought a tear to my eye.

Does anyone remember when series 3 was being filmed and PR shots were being released, there was one of Elvis with a dog? I think he was called Pyro. I might still have the photo. He never appeared in the programme though.

Lucky Pyro I say!

eejittwo · 30/10/2018 12:51

V lucky Pyro. I’d forgotten about that photo. Not quite sure which is most drool-worthy - the dog or the man.

Ilovelblue · 30/10/2018 13:01

That made me smile! Agree with you there eejit. Maybe it's the two of them together that makes it so appealing.

Evening all. Having a bit of a rough few days as I fell on Friday helping my elderly neighbour in his garden and have hurt my neck. Fortunately not seeing double (I would have been worried then) but it has been rather stiff and aching. The kitchen still isn't finished but hopefully will be done tomorrow. Hurray! I'm fed up of having workmen in and out all the time.

I loved that story you posted so much eejit that I have donated to the charity. A while ago, there was a piece on Jeremy Vine's Radio 2 lunchtime show about a charity out in Afghanistan that rehomed dogs and some cats. It had been started by a soldier who had befriended a dog whilst on tour out there and who then brought the dog home with him afterwards. That brought a tear to my eye too and I sent them money as well. If you want to take a look, it's called Nowzad. After JV had interviewed somebody connected with the charity, apparently their website crashed with all the interest!

I'm here and ready to go but not doing it on my own!

eejittwo · 01/11/2018 21:01

I’m here to and just started the flashbacks

Ilovelblue · 01/11/2018 21:03

Oh good.

Those shorts of Maisie's are very short! Flashback to Molly on her first PT session where CJ makes the very sexist remark.

Nw on the titles and they’re still using the arrival of SF at the warehouse.

Rhubarb01 · 01/11/2018 21:03

Present but things a bit slow on the techy side.

CJ is just pulling up in his large land rover. Yes you are posh!
