It’s quite sweet, that but with Monk and the wee girl.

Ilovelblue · 06/12/2018 21:53

... and Georgie turns up at the precise moment CJ needs some comfort. How convenient.

Rhubarb01 · 06/12/2018 21:53

Here comes Georgie to offer comfort in CJ's hour of need.

Rhubarb01 · 06/12/2018 21:55

CJ obviously loves her - it's all about what she said to him. Does he really agree - mind you he already said he wanted Georgie.

DON'T YOU CHARLIE HIM - TAKE YOUR MITTS OFF HIM!!

Ilovelblue · 06/12/2018 21:55

Methinks Georgie might want something to change CJ!

OP posts:
eejittwo · 06/12/2018 21:56

CJ looks so young there.

Rhubarb01 · 06/12/2018 21:56

There we go again ilove Grin

Preview of next week - for goodness sake CJ you know you really love Molly.

Ilovelblue · 06/12/2018 21:56

OK ladies, when are we doing our next episode? A week tonight?

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 06/12/2018 21:58

I really dislike these episodes - mainly because of the CJ/Georgie/Molly thing - I'm feeling so nostalgic for series 1 Afghan and the Elvis/Georgie series 2. Argghh!!

eejittwo · 06/12/2018 21:58

Okay - next Thursday.
I really didn’t care for this episode in the least, as you may have noticed.

Rhubarb01 · 06/12/2018 21:59

Next Thursday should be all right with me.

Ilovelblue · 06/12/2018 22:01

The ones I disliked the most in this series have been the ones in Belize. I don't mind the Bangladesh ones but they're not a patch on the ones with our lovely Luke in them in series 2 and early series 3.

Just seen a short interview in Metro with Ben (Google Ben Aldridge news). Doesn't think there'll be another OG series and not likely he'd be in it if there was. He talks about the surprise of the CJ / Lane storyline, apparently until then, he hadn't been playing CJ as having feelings for her - no really, I think we got that! Said he supposed there was a need for a romantic storyline in the show and there was no one else - so what was Rab and Maisie then?Confused
Also, have you been watching BA on Send a Cow instagram today? Why oh why does he insist on wearing a baseball cap (indoors Angry ) literally covering his crowning glory! Still, at least it's not back to front for a change Grin

Bonnefoi · 07/12/2018 15:00

Was it This One?

kazzaD66 · 07/12/2018 15:37

Yes

Rhubarb01 · 07/12/2018 17:15

Thanks for that Kazza and Bonnefoi. That's quite a telling interview. In fact, I'd say there's some diplomatic criticism in there, particularly in respect of the Georgie/CJ storyline. As you say Kazza, we'd all worked out there was zero chemistry between the characters and it's hardly surprising if prior to the last series there had never been anything implied in body language, looks and expressions or even actual conversation. It seems as if it was thrown in because they thought they had to have it - and yes I agree that Maisie and Rab were enough romantic interest.

At this stage, I think if we can't have a resolution of the romantic triangle with it turning out the right way and CJ going back to Molly, then I'd rather not see CJ or Georgie in another series at all. I would accept a reboot with some new characters. Perhaps they could keep Two Section - or most of them - and introduce a new protagonist such as a female officer, perhaps one who isn't 'posh' but has a working-class/state school background. In the current era that would be quite interesting. I don't think we need any more romances with medics, so Ruby will be safe, even if he was remotely interested which I doubt! It's just a thought, but I bet it won't happen if MK won't do it.

Let's hope BA's new project works out for him and we have a chance to see it. I think E4 often show dramas by the production company making this new spin-off series.

Bonnefoi · 07/12/2018 17:27

I know nothing about acting but his comment about acting the love declaration when he had in no way acted it out in previous episodes was very telling IMO. Hmm

Don't think I'd watch a new series with no BA or LT in it to be honest.

One thing though, if they do do another series with no CJ on screen but with mentions, the way the did with Molly, with CJ & G loved up off screen, then I'm definitely not watching. My TV barely survived me raging at it through the end of series three.Confused

A complete reboot with totally new main characters I think I would try.

kazzaD66 · 07/12/2018 17:32

On the Send a Cow instagram story, BA says goats are one of his favourite animals. Slightly left field perhaps but at least he's got that in common with CJ Grin

Rhubarb01 · 07/12/2018 17:47

I have to agree Bonnefoi that I wouldn't care for 'mentions' of CJ or Georgie unless they were to confirm that they weren't together.

At total reboot would be interesting, but I wonder if it would be too much of a gamble for the BBC who probably think it's been successful but time to let it go.

Kazza I really like goats too. If I ever had enough land and plenty of time and money I'd definitely get some goats and a donkey or two!

kazzaD66 · 07/12/2018 18:04

Rhu I was terrorised by a goat called Morgan when we stayed on a farm on the Gower Penisular on hols when I was about 8. He used to chew car aerials if they were left up (remember the old aerials on the bonnet you used to pull up and push down again?!). And, if your room was on the ground floor, if you didn't shut the window, Morgan used to chew anything through the window within reach. These things stay with you, even decades later, although I suppose I could learn to like goats with a little help from BA Grin

eejittwo · 07/12/2018 18:05

An alternative would have been to keep Elvis alive, off-stage, like Molly. He could have been injured (again) rather than blown up, but whatever - Georgie goes off on tour with 2 Section again. Can still have Bones (as Elvis can't keep rescuing Georgie from her idiocy). Bones can either know or not know that Elvis and Georgie are an item but, either way, is hitting on Georgie. THAT gives the series the 'romantic' interest and gives CJ something to do (as Elvis's best friend) to support / protect Georgie from harrassment. Meanwhile Maisie and Rab continue sniping at each other , Monk contemplates fatherhood, Fingers fails selection, Kingy is mother hen and the fans AREN'T OUTRAGED.

eejittwo · 07/12/2018 18:06

PS - goats I have known, but won't bore you with.

Bonnefoi · 07/12/2018 18:12

My one and only Zombie apocalypse skill is that I can milk a goat. Grin

eejittwo · 07/12/2018 18:35

Bonnefoi - respect! So can I, just!

Ilovelblue · 07/12/2018 23:28

Ladies, thanks for the link to the BA interview. As you've all said, his comments are very telling and a criticism of the last series.

It hit home to me on the watchalongs we've been doing over the past few weeks just how little interest I've had in Belize and Bangladesh (Belize particularly). Nigeria was so-so but I've not bothered buying the last DVD whereas I was always first in the queue to get the others.

I like goats too! It was a very sweet moment when CJ stroked the baby goat in Nepal and clearly it wasn't just acting for him in that scene. If I had a smallholding, however, I would have a couple of alpacas and a donkey. I've been walking with alpacas - they are so cute.
