Hi all, I wasn't sure if Raahh was around so I thought I would start a new thread (thanks ferrier) in case of any urgent tennis news that we might need to start posting about immediately! I'm looking forward to Shanghai this week Smile

if it's looking likely that Delpo won't be in London , then I'd love to see Tsitsipas as the alternate. He has come on so much this year, and is a real class act.

of course, he's in line to qualify high in the race for Milan.

PrivateParkin · 19/10/2018 21:01

I would too Raahh. I think London could do with a boost, and he'd be just the person to provide it!!

Relieved that at least they've not reduced it to 6-6 and that some of the tension of an epic match is preserved.

Good to see Kyle still alive at the end of a long season. And Fabio. ATP Finals really are a tournament too far for some of the players that regularly get to the latter stages of tournaments.
I'm hoping it's either Kyle or Fabio making up the numbers of course. Preferably both!

Raahh · 20/10/2018 13:53

great result for Tsitsipas, and nice to see Gulbis in a semi final too.

Raahh · 20/10/2018 16:09

and Ernst beat Isner, which is great.

I do hope Stefanos can win his first title tomorrow though.

PrivateParkin · 20/10/2018 16:31

Yay - I love Gulbis. He's had a totally insane career and when he's on form, he's fab. That match against Zverev at Wimbledon was one of my favourite matches of the year. But yes I would love to see Tsitsipas win tomorrow.

I see Kyle is still in the hunt for his first title as well - has to beat Gasquet to get to the final.

Just seen a clip of Gulbis' win. Looking good!! It's going to be the battle of the red shorts tomorrow between him and Tsitsipas!

Come on Ernests!! Wish I could watch it.

PrivateParkin · 20/10/2018 21:18

So do I. Also Kyle Edmund got through to the final in Antwerp and that isn't on TV either AFAIK. Annoying.

Isner has actually said he wants the tiebreak rule to be called the Isner Rule Grin I really hope so, that would be great. Good on him.

Isner

We did that's what they should call it! After all, the lengthy matches have usually been his fault!Grin

Raahh · 21/10/2018 13:55

*said

ferrier · 21/10/2018 14:25

Which just demonstrates that all's he got is a serve. Really they should just sort out the service so it can't be quite so dominant as it does largely seem to be the big servers who can take a match to those extremes.

ferrier · 21/10/2018 14:25

Disappointed that we can't see Kyle in action.
But watching the WTA finals instead.

PrivateParkin · 21/10/2018 14:33

ferrier at least he (Isner) admits it though!!

It's rubbish that Kyle isn't on TV. If it were Andy Murray I'm sure somewhere in the UK would be showing it. I think Edmund has a decent chance of winning today and it seems a bit unfair that most people over here won't be aware of it, if he does win his first title (DC aside).

I also really want to see Gulbis v Tsitsipas, but nothing doing!!

PrivateParkin · 21/10/2018 14:35

How are the WTA finals ferrier? I hear Svitolina beat Kvitova? Is it indoors??

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 21/10/2018 14:44

Tsitsipas v Gulbis is about to start. On the plus side for Stefanos, at least Rafa isn't there to ruin everything - again Grin

Private Grin

JaneJeffer · 21/10/2018 15:30

I'm score watching. Tsitsipas has the first set.

Raahh · 21/10/2018 15:39

Jane me too!
I'm happy whoever wins it, really.

JaneJeffer · 21/10/2018 16:04

And Tsitsipas just won.

Raahh · 21/10/2018 16:06

And his first title. I think Sascha needs to watch his back.

Raahh · 21/10/2018 16:41

and well done to Kyle too.

PrivateParkin · 21/10/2018 16:46

Really chuffed for Tsitsipas. And Edmund won as well.

OP posts:
ferrier · 21/10/2018 17:15

Yes! Well done Kyle!
