Hi all, I wasn't sure if Raahh was around so I thought I would start a new thread (thanks ferrier) in case of any urgent tennis news that we might need to start posting about immediately! I'm looking forward to Shanghai this week Smile

Private I used to watch Home and Away just for the sunshine - haven't seen it for years now but I'm watching I'm a Celeb for my vitamin D Grin

Raahh · 18/11/2018 22:22

Jane yy, it's usually you who finds me chattering away.

It's AC-itis.Grin

PrivateParkin · 18/11/2018 22:28

Grin sounds like a plan!!

Just looked up the Aus Open - might as well be prepared Grin It starts 14 Jan and is showing on Eurosport across Europe apparently. So Sky have no more tennis now, which is a shame. Annabel will be ok as she is fab and already works for other channels as well, but what about Greg and Marcus?!?

And I keep forgetting the Davis Cup final - which starts in 5 days!! So there's not that much of an off season at all...

I’m also happy to ramble on about tennis and nothing in particular Grin

Hoping that Rafa and Delpo can come back from their injuries - they were missed in London but hope they have time to rest and recover.

I agree Ferrier the 02 crowd were awful booing Zverev- bbc breakfast showed it again this morning when talking about his win - why not show him holding the trophy?

Annabel is my new hero for telling the crowd off - I think a lot of people go to these events to be seen and to drink champagne and don’t really understand tennis (although I’d be happy to go and drink champagne!)

Anyway enough rambling from me - AC itis is catching!

I've just seen on the BBC website an interview by Sue Barker with Lleyton Hewitt and Gustavo Kuerten, which I'm guessing was shown on tv over the weekend. Did anyone else see it? I just wondered where on earth it took place, it was weird. Sue had a black backdrop behind her, whereas the two boys looked as though they were sitting in a library reading room or the headmaster's office Hmm

Still can't believe Guga's got so many curls Grin

PrivateParkin · 19/11/2018 16:50

Will definitely look up that interview - sounds intriguing!! I really wish I'd appreciated Guga more when he was playing. He sort of passed me by (probably because I didn't really take an interest in the French Open back then Hmm). A friend of mine who is a tennis nut always used to go on about him, but I could never see what was so good about him - very ignorant of me.

Anyway. Here's a completely unrelated photo to brighten this gloomy Monday www.instagram.com/p/BqUgUh3HnhT/

Ah, private I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Marcus but I do think his hair looks better when he's got a bandana round it. He looks like a fourth Bee Gee from 1977 here Grin

Raahh · 19/11/2018 17:01

That is a brilliant picture, I love MarcosGrin

Raahh · 19/11/2018 17:02

4th Bee Gee

Grin
PrivateParkin · 19/11/2018 17:10

Grin they're both channelling a bit of a 70s vibe aren't they?! They'd be a great doubles team!!

I just watched the Guga/Hewitt interview kazza - that was a weird set up! Sue looked like she was about to host Mastermind!! And I don't know why the boys were positioned in front of those shelves of weird nick-nacks!! Very odd.

Also - the hip question backfired a bit!! Grin

kazzaD66 · 19/11/2018 22:30

Private it was almost as if they were in completely different universes places Confused
Re Andy's hip, have you seen the videos of him doing some exercises in the gym? The one where he jumps over various obstacles like a little kangaroo is awesome Blush

PrivateParkin · 22/11/2018 11:49

This is a sweet clip of when Croatia beat France in Davis Cup a couple of years ago - check out Marin's wingspan when he goes in for the group hug!! Shock it must be nearly impossible to pass him at the net!! Grin

Grin
PrivateParkin · 22/11/2018 18:04

Grin he really is!! I admit I've watched it more than once to marvel at the hug scene!

There is this awful depressing article in the telegraph today (as seen on twitter of course). It's about which players will be in the men's top 10 in 2023 Hmm

I have to say it's not something I want to think about tbh.

Btw I can't find the Davis Cup showing anywhere here - can anyone else?

This was L'Equipe's 2013 prediction for 2018 (with hindsight - lol)

Did they get Mystic Meg to come up with that? Grin

PrivateParkin · 22/11/2018 18:32

Definite crystal ball malfunction that day!!

Janowicz... What became of him I wonder?...

OP posts:
Raahh · 22/11/2018 19:17

blimey, those predictions!Grin

kazzaD66 · 22/11/2018 20:02

Was it a bunch of darts players making those predictions? (no offence to darts players!) Hmm

PrivateParkin · 23/11/2018 09:32

Poor Jerzy Sad sounds a bit ominous.

The only place to watch the Davis cup in UK is the Davis Cup website "from £4.99"! I would've thought Eurosport would show it but no. Don't know about Ireland though? So much for the World Cup of tennis eh? Hmm

I'm quite annoyed as there are a few players I'd like to watch (incl Tsonga) and it's the last "proper" DC final. Thumbs down!!
