Hi all, I wasn't sure if Raahh was around so I thought I would start a new thread (thanks ferrier) in case of any urgent tennis news that we might need to start posting about immediately! I'm looking forward to Shanghai this week Smile

Novak was looking a bit worried there!

Lovely speech from Sascha - Lendl almost cracked a smile!

PrivateParkin · 18/11/2018 19:49

This is like an Oscar speech! They will start playing music soon to stop him talking!! Cute Grin

Spooky Private Grin - I think he had every right to milk his moment. Great win.

PrivateParkin · 18/11/2018 19:55

She used your Lendl comment as well Fizzy! Come on Sue - give us a sign if you read this thread!

At least Tim is saying he won on his own merits

Raahh · 18/11/2018 19:58

Fizzy he definitely does.Grin

PrivateParkin · 18/11/2018 19:58

Yes agree - Tim knows what he's talking about!

Come on own up - which one of you is sue Smile

Raahh · 18/11/2018 20:04

Well, it's been a funny old year. Given where Djok was at the end of last year, and how he started this year.

As a Rafa fan, I'm sad he wasn't at the WTF- but he's ended the year 2nd, won a slam, 3 masters, and a 500- which is not a bad year at all.

PrivateParkin · 18/11/2018 21:27

It has Raahh. I'm sure I read that Rafa only lost twice all season (plus 2 retirements) which is pretty good! If only he'd won that third set against Djok at Wimbledon when he had a set point!! It could have been a very different season imho.

It will be interesting to see what happens next year. I know Zverev has just had that big win and the "youngsters" are doing well, but we'll see if any of them can actually put it together in a Slam or if the usual suspects will be too strong for them...

Yes I wish Rafa had been in London as well - and Delpo of course. It probably would have made the group stages a bit more competitive, if nothing else!!

Hola from the sunshine.

Just got back to apartment & seen that Sasha has won.

So delighted that
I have to crack annunzer bottle!

Can we keep threads going over the off season?

Will miss you all if not!

PrivateParkin · 18/11/2018 21:42

Sounds like a good reason to keep the booze flowing magi! Hope you are having a fab time.

I'm definitely up for keeping the thread going - I can talk rubbish about tennis any time! Grin And it's not that long until the Aus Open!!!

Not been able to watch much this week but delighted that Zverev won (if Roger couldn't!).

Shocking behaviour by the O2 so-called 'fans' yesterday booing him. Clearly not just in the US that they don't know the rules.

JaneJeffer · 18/11/2018 21:51

Hi magi we had some sunshine here over the weekend but really cold evenings. I'm struggling with the short days, not a winter person. Hope you have a lovely time.

Raahh · 18/11/2018 22:00

magi I've always tried to keep the threads going over Christmas ( even though to usually I end up talking to myself).Grin There is usually something interesting that crops up in the off season.

I'm glad you're having a good time.

Private, yy, retirements aside, Rafa's win/loss record this year is pretty good. I hope he gets to sort his match for the flood victims, too.

JaneJeffer · 18/11/2018 22:11

Oh yes I used to stumble across some tennis on TV and wonder if there was a thread and find Raahh had been chatting away to herself for a week Grin

PrivateParkin · 18/11/2018 22:20

Jane I'm not a fan of the short days this time of year either. It seems to have crept up in me very suddenly this year. That's one of the reasons I love the Aus Open so much - when it's cold and dark here, it's lovely to watch tennis players getting hot and sweaty in the sun!!! Bring it on!
