Hi all, I wasn't sure if Raahh was around so I thought I would start a new thread (thanks ferrier) in case of any urgent tennis news that we might need to start posting about immediately! I'm looking forward to Shanghai this week Smile

You tell them Annabel!
Don't know why Zverev has to apologise about 20 times.

Fizzywinegum · 17/11/2018 15:52

Ah Sasha seems quite overwhelmed! Well said Annabel telling the crowd to be respectful.

He did play well - yes boris is always good for a laugh! Sue always seems a bit nervous when he’s around!

kazzaD66 · 17/11/2018 15:52

It reminds me of the end of the US Open women's final

PrivateParkin · 17/11/2018 15:53

I know!! It reminds me of Osaka. Well done Annabel.

Oh dear, no room for AC in Sue's booth Grin

PrivateParkin · 17/11/2018 15:56

Yes for some reason he had to make way for the 6-time grand slam winner Grin

Private Grin
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the thing that grates with me (well, one of many things!) is that he seems to have a large degree of self importance which, considering his career compared to most of the people he commentates with, is outrageous! It always used to rile me when I was unlucky enough to watch him in the veterans tournament at the Royal Albert Hall - he'd be on court with the likes of McEnroe, Bahrami, McNamara, Leconte, Cash, even John Lloyd and he'd seem to think he was the one we all came to see Confused I'm afraid it's coloured my opinion ever since Smile

Raahh · 17/11/2018 16:07

I've been watching dd1 play football, but go! Sascha.
Reading your comments, it shows Fed's fans in a poor light if there was booing. Well done to Annabelle for calling the crowd on it.

kazzaD66 · 17/11/2018 16:08

Here endeth the lesson Grin (creeps back in to her box Blush)

PrivateParkin · 17/11/2018 16:15

unlucky enough to watch him
Grin Kazza I agree!! Really he should just be there as a presenter, rather than to offer insights into top level tennis, which surely even he would admit he doesn't have!! Whereas Sue I feel is wasted in her role as a host because she's really good at analysing and she obviously has experience of being up at the top of the game. Boris and Tim are always good value though imho.

Raahh the booing was absolutely idiotic. It was like the Serena incident - people who don't know anything about tennis not realising what's going on. Those people should have been having a word with themselves - booing a 21 year old kid who's just had one of his biggest wins?? Awful.

Private Tim has a very dry sense of humour and is quite laid back, which I like. Boris can get on my wick a bit when he forgets to shut up sometimes but he can be quite good value when he indiscreetly comes out with something outrageous. You always feel anything could happen when he's got a microphone in front of him Grin

PrivateParkin · 17/11/2018 17:59

Zverev said afterwards: "it was a happy and sad moment at the same time, winning that way. The booing at the end, not gonna lie, I was pretty upset in the locker room, had to take a few moments by myself".

Sad I wasn't really a fan before today, but I think he handled it really well under the circs. Roger didn't seem to have an issue with him halting play, I don't know why the crowd did. I really feel for him!

Well, Djok is through.

Can't get too excited by that. Grin

I hope Sascha doesn't freeze tomorrow, or let what happened today phase him.

JaneJeffer · 17/11/2018 22:58

I missed all the goings-on today. Well done Sascha though.

Raahh · 18/11/2018 18:19

I probably won't be able to watch all of this match. I do hope Sascha can make a match of it.

The squeaking is getting on my nerves though.

Raahh · 18/11/2018 18:22

they are discussing Sascha's dog, who apparently is a 'handbag dog'Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 18/11/2018 18:25

I’m not enjoying the squeaky shoes either Raahh. AC is on dog talk already - he’s obsessed about “handbag dogs”.

Hoping for a win for sascha but not sure if that will happen.

PrivateParkin · 18/11/2018 18:29

Oh boo I only just tuned in and missed the dog chat!

"This is the ATP Tour Finals" oh thanks AC - I thought it was Antiques Roadshow Hmm

Fizzywinegum · 18/11/2018 18:35

Apparently saschas mum can’t watch her sons play so takes the dogs for a walk instead Private Grin

Good match so far.

Raahh · 18/11/2018 18:39

ooh, Guga. I love his hair.

PrivateParkin · 18/11/2018 18:41

I don't blame Frau Zverev!! I wouldn't be able to handle that at all!

It is good Fizzy - hope Zverev can keep it going.

OP posts:
Raahh · 18/11/2018 18:41

oh, panic in Raahh house.

Doctor Who started earlier than the dc thought it did.

Keep me posted!

PrivateParkin · 18/11/2018 18:43

I love Guga - he looks like the world's most cheerful person Grin
