Hi all, I wasn't sure if Raahh was around so I thought I would start a new thread (thanks ferrier) in case of any urgent tennis news that we might need to start posting about immediately! I'm looking forward to Shanghai this week Smile

That's all very well Jane but where's the knitwear? At least be imaginative like Magi .... we do like to encourage creativity Grin

JaneJeffer · 08/10/2018 22:25

ferrier I watched the video even though I couldn't understand a word Fabio said! Only an Italian man could get away with that scarf!

JaneJeffer · 08/10/2018 22:27

Well I've seen some photos of Berdych and Verdasco without any kind of wear but you'd need smelling salts if I posted those!

Never mind Rogers's cardi (bleurgh)

PrivateParkin · 08/10/2018 22:39

Smile love that Jane! A bit of Feli would brighten any month!

I did Google him earlier to see if there were any jumper pics but no. I may have spent quite a while browsing Google images

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 08/10/2018 22:41

I forgot about the jumper stipulation! More searching required...such a chore

Fizzywinegum · 08/10/2018 23:02

Tennis players in jumpers has suddenly leapt to the top of google search Grin

Magi were you going to knit Delpo a thong??

Fizzywinegum · 08/10/2018 23:06

Sorry yes I see you were and you have his measurements of course Shock. In my warped mind I’m starting to believe that Delpo does really wear fisherman’s jumpers and light log fires to relax and that magi really went on holiday with him - I think I need to go to sleep!

JaneJeffer · 08/10/2018 23:08

Fizzy sweet dreams Grin

magimedi · 09/10/2018 08:49

Never mind Rogers's cardi (bleurgh)

Rog just doesn't have the 'phwoar' factor, does he?

Raahh · 09/10/2018 09:01

magi Grin

It's too early for the Tsonga Cosmo picture, I assume? Definitely no woolly jumpers there. Grin

Just logged on to see that Basilashvili has backed up his weekend success with a solid win over Shaggy.

Raahh · 09/10/2018 13:13

Thiem has just lost to Ebden, I see. Not what he would have wanted at this stage.

PrivateParkin · 09/10/2018 13:48

Fizzy I totally believe all that about Delpo as well! Grin

I haven't seen any tennis today as I am at work Sad Good result for Basil, maintaining his winning ways! Sorry for Shaggy though of course.

I see Delpo plays Richard Gasquet tomorrow - two of my all time faves. Should be good - providing Delpo's recovered from hisman flu that is.

Did anyone read the story about Kyrgios playing a "trick" on the media? Hmm Apparently he announced he had a new coach, gave out their name etc. Then when all the journalists reported it, he said he was making it up and they were all gullible Hmm. Catherine Whittaker gave him pretty short shrift on the tennis podcast.

PS Kyrgios "Ensuring that he will lose his Australian No.1 position to Alex de Minaur after two-and-a-half years" Shock

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 09/10/2018 13:53

Sorry that last post made no sense. His result from Tokyo means his ranking will fall so he won't be Aussie No1 any more.

Raahh · 09/10/2018 15:26

oh dear, Marin' s bad run continues.

Raahh · 09/10/2018 15:48

And Private I'm glad Alex has taken over Kyrgios as Aussie number 1. He deserves to.

Fizzywinegum · 09/10/2018 16:08

Sadly I didn’t have any nice tennis dreams last night - I’ve also not watched any tennis - I prefer afternoon/evening watching if possible (if only they could sort those pesky time zones out!)

God Kyrgios is even more of a tosser than I thought he was (if that could be possible!) - glad he’s no longer Aussie number one.

It’s really warm here - I’ve just seen about 4 ladybirds in the garden - I’m a bit freaked out - hope we don’t get an infestation.

PrivateParkin · 09/10/2018 16:50

The thing with Kyrgios is that you could (possibly) overlook this stuff if he was playing brilliantly, but he's not. He's down to no37 Confused so why doesn't he concentrate on tennis instead of mucking around?!

I cannot believe Cilic. You will probably all think I'm going over the top, but I reckon that rain delay at Wimbledon was the turning point of his season. Aus Open final, Queens champ, second seed at Wimbledon, picked as possible champion by many, lost that second round match when he'd been 2 sets to 0 up. Has he had any good results since then?? I haven't fully looked at the results since then but I'm starting to think there is something odd going on, because he was brilliant before Wimbledon. And he keeps losing matches he should win. Come on Marin!! Sort it out 👊

PS Fizzy it's so warm here as well! It was freezing when I set off this morning, but it's warmed up massively. A bit weird for this time of year Confused

It's a horrible day here again, constant rain and very gusty. It was supposed to be sunny according to the weather forecast I watched yesterday. Apparently there's even worse weather on the way at the end of the week Sad I've just been out with the dog, he was going a bit stir crazy.

It is strange that Marin isn't playing better. He doesn't seem to have an injury. Maybe Djok stole his mojo as they seem to have both gone from one extreme to the other.

Raahh · 09/10/2018 17:14

it is very warm here, and had to sit in a stuffy school hall for a coffee afternoon. I was melting.

I agree, that Kyrgios and his posturing would be fine if he was getting results- but he isn't. And finding himself behind Minaur and probably Millman, you would think this would spur him on. But it won't. He's too arrogant for that.

I agree the Wimbledon loss for Cilic was a turning point, Private, that rain delay has a lot to answer for, but he hasn't been the same player since. Sometimes players seem to just crumble mentally, even if they seem ok physically.

I hope Delpo is over his man flu. I am pinning my hopes on him this week. With a bit of luck, he's been keeping nice and warm, hopefully in more than a knitted thong. Grin.
