Hi all, I wasn't sure if Raahh was around so I thought I would start a new thread (thanks ferrier) in case of any urgent tennis news that we might need to start posting about immediately! I'm looking forward to Shanghai this week Smile

Jane they are driving me nuts, the 3 of them. So biased.

I hope Federer loses to Anderson, and goes home.

Raahh · 11/11/2018 21:53

Sorry- Evening Majestic Grin

Raahh · 11/11/2018 21:59

Zverev v Cilic tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully I will get to see some of that.

Fizzywinegum · 11/11/2018 22:00

We still have some rocket lollies in our freezer although they are Aldi rip offs so that might be why!

It really annoys me when commentators expect a player to win and then carry on as if they’ve won even when they’ve lost - the bbc is very bad for this (Sue Barker!)

Have a great time Majestic - hope you get to see some good matches.

PrivateParkin · 11/11/2018 22:04

Yes the usual Roger discussion, win or lose!!

Also: Why does Tim's poppy have a gold leaf?!

Anyway hi Bea and Majestic. That was indeed a damp squib of a match. I hope you get some better games on Tuesday Bea, enjoy!

I held out for tickets but after Delpo had to drop out, I decided not to get them anyway...

Cilic v Zverev should be good tomorrow... If Sascha's ankles have defrosted after his sockless photo shoot that is Grin

Did anyone see the pictures of them all on the tube?! Keith's expression is so funny in the photos, will try and find one...

Grin Kei looks none too impressed

Sorry - hope you have a good time Bea.

Fizzywinegum · 11/11/2018 22:08

Love the tube picture Grin

JaneJeffer · 11/11/2018 22:11

Why did nothing like that happen when I lived in London? I was more likely to encounter a gang of football hooligans on their way to Wembley Angry

Fizzywinegum · 11/11/2018 22:13

The other passengers look quite nonchalant.

I bet it was Roger’s idea - he looks very happy!

PrivateParkin · 11/11/2018 22:15

I saw Louis Theroux on the tube once, which was pretty good. But never a gaggle of tennis players Sad

Thanks all - you lovely lot - will try and stay connected this time round .

Am busy eating mango and raspberry lolly (Hagen Das) bargain - I have a stash hidden that DS has not found - I just put the Nobbly Bobbly ones at the front so he gets distracted !

Am going afternoon and pm on Tuesday - I’m going on my own in afternoon as my friend can not get whole day off. Hopefully there will be a good match ? They did just say Roger was playing on Tues Hmm - I hope he gets out of the grumps and the smurf suit before then. .

Hope you enjoy Majestic 🎾

I’m sitting on level 4a - different places for each session .
Do you think Nadal and Delpo tune into watch whilst injured ?

BeaLola · 11/11/2018 22:56

The poppy with the “gold” leaf I think is a special commemorative one to mark the 100 years - I read that it was to encourage people to buy poppies for Remdmberance Day.

ferrier · 11/11/2018 23:44

Roger played the worst I've seen him play pretty much ever.

I do wish some of you weren't so biassed against him though. Anyone would think this was FB.

PrivateParkin · 12/11/2018 07:40

Well, we all have our favourites don't we?! And players we don't like, or don't like as much. Which is fine imho. From my point of view, it's more the biased coverage he gets that I object to, rather than Roger himself - who I enjoy watching as I've said loads of times on these threads before.

I do think yesterday was a clear example of Roger-mania though - Nishikori won that match fair and square - and that's a great win for him considering his record at the O2, even if Fed wasn't at his best. But all the post-match coverage was focused on Federer. I think that is a bit much and a bit unfair to Kei. Not that he cares I'm sure! But I feel Roger's opponents don't get the credit they deserve.

PS thanks for the poppy info Bea, that's a nice idea. I didn't see the gold ones anywhere and just had the usual basic poppy. I saw some fans in the O2 crowd had a poppy pinned to their Federer mascot, which was cute.

Have a great time tomorrow. You'll have to tell us all about it when you get back!

I also enjoy watching Roger play and I don't hate him but I'm never going to love him either! And taking the piss is just what I do Grin

magimedi · 12/11/2018 09:04

I don't think I'm biased re Roger. I love to watch him play but also get sick of the endless hype about him & do find him a tad smug.

Raahh · 12/11/2018 14:22

I wish they would get on with it.

I have to go out in a bit!

And we're off!

PrivateParkin · 12/11/2018 14:29

I know! Why say it starts at 2 when it doesn't?!

I'm disappointed though as 5 mins have gone by and not a single mention of beards from AC. He's losing his touch.

Raahh · 12/11/2018 14:33

I know!!

Very disappointed. Grin

Raahh · 12/11/2018 14:37

No, Serena doesn't ask her coach to come on court Tim.

They coach from the stands Wink.

Raahh · 12/11/2018 14:39

Bit of a blip at the beginning, but Marin has settled into this match well.

I want him to end the year on a high- it was going so well up to Wimbledon.

PrivateParkin · 12/11/2018 14:51

Marin's looking very stern isn't he?! Grin Love it.

OP posts:
Raahh · 12/11/2018 15:04

Eek!

I went off on the school run, am sat in the car checking the scores, and now it's back in serve.

Come on Marin!
