Tennis thread: towards the end of the season, lots of tennis still to be played!

Hi all, I wasn't sure if Raahh was around so I thought I would start a new thread (thanks ferrier) in case of any urgent tennis news that we might need to start posting about immediately! I'm looking forward to Shanghai this week

I met up with some friends for lunch today and it was lovely and sunny beforehand, but then we got absolutely soaked on the way out!! Still drying off now! So I'd definitely be jetting off somewhere warmer if I could! Have a great time

I do feel a bit guilty sometimes - puritan upbringing - but DH is pushing mid 70's (waaaaaaay older than me!) & we both feel we want to do things while we can!

Yes ... it's been a bit wet here too. Just dried off a none too impressed moggy!

Have only seen a smidgeon of NextGen. Looks like they're playing Fast4 format which I really thought only appropriate for lower level tournaments ... doesn't really allow any tension to build.

In other news, Roger is confirmed (again) as the fans favourite 🙂

I was thinking of you the other day, actually, because dd2 has been doing a project on dinosaurs at school (3rd one to do this- I'm an expert now). She has requested a blue(?) toy tricerotops for Christmas.

It's been freezing here . DD1 was playing football at a ground that was very open, and the wind was just whistling sideways. Even she was was cold, and she never gets cold .

I've just seen that Stefanos has won in Milan, and Alex DeM won the 3rd place play off.
So congrats to them.

Jane I read that he isn't fond of the coaching thing. It has been funny watching his dad put the head set on, and Stef just ignoring it though.

He also said they get very sweaty. Ewww.

So, the first match at the WTF is on, and I can't watch it. I hate the way it is broadcast.
Anderson is currently in charge y the look of things. Dom struggled a bit last year, but he has improved a bit indoors this last 12 months. Still not really his surface, though.

Where's it being shown? Manchester derby on here.

Jane it was on Sky Sports arena. Looks like Anderson drew first blood. Not too surprised by that, really.

it's on BBC4 from 8 I think ( but I will probably be watching x factor and it's Federer and Nishikori anyway ).

It was on sky sports arena - don’t think it’s on bbc until tomorrow and then only in the afternoons which is rubbish for people who haven’t got sky.

Anderson won against Thiem - he looked pretty good from what I saw. He sang happy birthday to his wife after the match which was sweet but a bit embarrassing as well!

Every now and again a decibel light comes on in the stadium and the crowd are encouraged to make as much noise as possible - Annabelle Croft didn’t seem too impressed by this!

I don't much like the sound of the decibel thing either, I'm with Annabel. They'll be introducing kiss cams and cheerleaders before we know it. .

Thanks ladies. It's strange they're splitting it between Sky and BBC4! I don't like the decibel thing either. What's wrong with a bit of peace and quiet?! Might get to see some tomorrow.

I've had loads of boring and annoying things to do today so I didn't see the first match. The way it was being advertised on BBC was as though tonight was the first match of the whole tournament, so I didn't even check whether anything was on earlier!

Watching the doubles. I do wish they'd bring back the proper scoring. What numpty thought that no-ad scoring is more exciting?
