Hi all, I wasn't sure if Raahh was around so I thought I would start a new thread (thanks ferrier) in case of any urgent tennis news that we might need to start posting about immediately! I'm looking forward to Shanghai this week Smile

Ooh - interesting about Rick! I was always a fan of his back in the day. A friend of mine is off to see him in concert next week - she's v excited Grin

RickGrin
I've just seen Rafa's potential draw to the final on Paris, and given it's one of his weakest tournaments, it's quite a tricky one. But, one match at a time...

PrivateParkin · 27/10/2018 11:55

Yes that's a tough draw for Rafa. Hopefully he will be ok.

Seems odd seeing Federer seeded third. And even more odd seeing Jack Sock still seeded after the year he's had. He's going to drop to below 100 I think if he doesn't do well in Paris. Good doubles season though.

Raahh · 27/10/2018 13:08

Funny you should mention Sock, private, I was thinking yesterday about what a difference a year makes. He has has a good year, doubles wise, may be he will lean more towards that.

JaneJeffer · 27/10/2018 13:47

Vienna is on Sky Sports Mix at the moment.

Zverev/Copil on Arena.

Raahh · 27/10/2018 14:43

Well, Nishikori is through.

PrivateParkin · 27/10/2018 15:07

He's had a good second half of the season hasn't he?

I'm not watching as we're having to go out so someone can come round for a viewing on the house - pests!! But we are going for a late pub lunch so can't complain.

The weather is foul here! Ugh I just feel like staying on the couch and watching tennis!..

Pub lunch sounds good Private. It was snowing here earlier Shock - now it’s just cold.

Zverev has just won the second set tiebreak against copil to take it into a third set.

Looking forward to Paris - haven’t seen Rafa’s draw yet. It’s half term here next week and DS1 is back from uni for a week so not sure how much tennis I’ll get to see.

Raahh · 27/10/2018 16:17

oh pants.

Zverev has lost. I'm actually Hoping Medvedev wins later.

JaneJeffer · 27/10/2018 16:35

Ugh the weather is awful. I'm glad I did my grocery shopping yesterday so I don't have to go out in it. Enjoy your lunch Private

Raahh · 27/10/2018 17:34

So much for being my hopes on Medvedev! Grin

Raahh · 27/10/2018 17:52

and Anderson is through.
He's already through in London, so Nish will be hoping for a win tomorrow.

PrivateParkin · 27/10/2018 18:46

Hmm so Fed is looking likely to win again in Basel. Copil has done well hasn't he - didn't he beat Cilic as well?!

I can't believe it's been snowing already Fizzy! Maybe it'll be a white Halloween?! We've got half term next week as well. I think we're having a couple of days or but mostly we'll be around... So if I can commandeer the TV then hopefully I'll be able to see some tennis.

The pub lunch was nice. They had a log fire lit which was definitely needed!!

Hallo!

Not kept up with the tennis. Been in France with the grandchildren.

Totally knackered by a 3.5year old + a 9month old. The latter had a fixation with Granny's glasses!

But to be greeted (on pick up from school) by the older one with a huge hug & 'Granny, I love you.' is just the best thing ever. Grandchildren are SO much nicer than your own progeny!!

Looking forward to the ATP finals at the O2 - hope it will be on ordinary (!) TV!

Raahh · 27/10/2018 22:49

Aww. magi that's lovely. GrinGlasses are a huge fascination with little ones- mine used to gaze into mine for ages, I used to kid myself it was because the were gazing adoringly at me- but really it was they could see their reflection Grin. Then they would yank them off and try to eat them...

JaneJeffer · 27/10/2018 23:00

Hi magi. They sound so cute! When I was little I used to put my Nana's glasses on and walk around as if I was stoned because everything looked so strange and wobbly Grin

Raahh · 27/10/2018 23:07

Jane Grin

DD2 has just got her first pair of glasses (she's 8) she was very excited- odd kid-- and I was surprised at how short sighted it turned out she was. I'm blind as a bat, as is her 12 year sister, so she will probably end up the same way. But she was so thrilled- and looks gorgeous in her bright red glasses Grin.

PrivateParkin · 27/10/2018 23:13

Ah magi that sounds lovely! Very sweet. You made me laugh saying grandchildren are better than your own offspring Grin

Raahh your DD's red glasses sound super cute. Jane my DS likes wearing glasses he doesn't need as wellI- eg he wore the glasses from his Harry Potter costume (they are just empty frames) to go round the supermarket a few weeks ago - got a few funny looks Grin

So, Kevin has won in Vienna.

Federer has the first set in Basel.

ferrier · 29/10/2018 00:24

Roger won for the ninth time in Basel. And did his routine pizza party for the ballkids afterwards!
Glad he has a consolation prize after a poor season.
Still clinging on to the slim chance that either Fabio or Kyle will make it in some shape or form to London.
Also watched a fair amount of the WTA finals which were very good this year. Lots of cracking matches and no service domination. I could even be persuaded to switch my allegiance to the women's tour if only they'd be a bit more consistent.

JaneJeffer · 29/10/2018 01:01

But you'd have to put up with the screeching ferrier

PrivateParkin · 29/10/2018 16:40

ferrier single handed backhand alert: Gasquet v Shapavolov tonight in Paris!

It's Lopez v DeMinaur at the mo - have seen about 10 seconds of it before my DS wanted to watch something else...

OP posts:
Raahh · 29/10/2018 16:58

Private I've just seen the scores for the Lopez match.

And Chickenato has lost out on another chance to see whether he could beat Djok again. So he will be playing Sousa instead.

PrivateParkin · 29/10/2018 17:20

Raahh yes it looks close doesn't it? I really want to watch, but the TV has been taken over by cartoons!!

Chickenato hasn't really built on his French Open result has he?! I fear Djok is just going to clean up at this tournament.

Apparently Agassi is in Paris with Dimitrov's support/coaching team...
