Tennis thread: towards the end of the season, lots of tennis still to be played!

Hi all, I wasn't sure if Raahh was around so I thought I would start a new thread (thanks ferrier) in case of any urgent tennis news that we might need to start posting about immediately! I'm looking forward to Shanghai this week

I finally got to sit down and watch Basel, and they were literally turning the lights off as I tuned in
Cilic's match had just finished. Another dodgy result, no idea what's going on with him.

Yay for Tsitsipas! So it'll be a grudge match between him and Medvedev next then... When they last played was when Medvedev took a long toilet break, so then Tsitsipas did as well.. and there was something about a net cord/they exchanged words after the match etc. I am not a fan of Medvedev.

Medvedev is an odd one. It depends who he is playing, really. He also has odd tufty, fairly pointless, facial hair. I'm sure Andrew Castle would be disappointed by his beard attempt.

yes, I think that was alluding to the fact the umpire the one accused of taking bribes during a match between Capriati and Serena years ago. it lead to the wide spread use of Hawkeye as well.
it was too much of a coincidence, if he didn't know the history with the umpire.

Just seen Monfils win against isner - yay! Yet again there are two similar tournaments running simultaneously which is confusing me!

Need to try and work out which players are playing in which tournament.

Argh yes it's so annoying when they have two tournaments at the same time. Especially when they are both indoors and look exactly the same!! Last week the two finals were played at the same time as well. It all seems a bit weird.

Good for Monfils beating Isner though.

Oh Federer is already through - I didn't realise that. I assumed he'd be last on court. The organisers obviously realise that Ernie v Simon is the showpiece event!!

This is a close match. Simon won the first set on a TB. Also it's confusing me as they both look exactly the same!

not a great day at the office for Thiem, Nishikori must be pleased with how things are going for him.

Yes just saw the end of that match Raahh nishikori seemed to be in impressive form. Just watching Zverev now - I think he’s playing in the other tournament but I’m not entirely sure

Actually just seen that the name of the tournament is on the court which is helpful (for me anyway!)
