Kim-Joy's little face!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/10/2018 20:32

So you would think, Fuzzy

bookbook · 09/10/2018 20:33

like the look of Manon's

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/10/2018 20:34

They do look lovely. I’m a sucker for a fruit meringue.

I like those spikey meringues <

makes mental note to spike meringues next time>

whatashower · 09/10/2018 20:35

I do feel the cloudy detritus from a drained can of beans of any variety is usually slightly malodorous and well, yak. You really do have to suspend disbelief.

MeTigger · 09/10/2018 20:36

:)

bookbook · 09/10/2018 20:36

I am a master of fork twirling meringue , but may have to try piping

Elderflower14 · 09/10/2018 20:36

🥝 Fruit.. 🤢... I'm allergic to them!!

LemonRedwood · 09/10/2018 20:36

I kind of miss the days where the Technical was about judging actual technical skills. You know, as in, do they have the technical knowledge to make this basic thing. Like, can they make a creme pat without a recipe.

I know meringue is kind of a basic skill. But the technicals in recent series seem to be more along the lines of "Can they make this thing no one has ever heard of?"

Rahul is definitely more cheerful. And excited.

FuzzyCustard · 09/10/2018 20:37

Fair point Lemon

SneakyGremlins · 09/10/2018 20:38

Ugh he still irritates me

whatashower · 09/10/2018 20:40

Myimaginary - but surely every cupboard has chickpeas already? right at the back behind the polenta, dried apricots and raspberry vinegar, with a pre -millenial expiry date

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/10/2018 20:40

I know Lemon

I like the basic - "see you could make this at home " stuff, too.

I'm not keen on this trawling the British Library Arcane Cookery Section to find something no-one has heard of.

Same as Strictly - you can't recognise most of the dances because they just go for showmanship. It's the same here. I liked the old days better (I know - I'm an Ole Trout Grin)

Elderflower14 · 09/10/2018 20:41

With my dyspraxia piping would be my idea of hell.
I did however see a Mary Berry hint a while ago where she suggested putting icing in a clean squeeze ketchup bottle and squeeze it out like that which I could manage!! 😂 😂 😂

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 09/10/2018 20:41

I imagine the prodigious amount of sugar in a meringue deals with the beaniness. What I can’t get over is the whiteness of them. I expected them to look a bit more wholefoody.

that Dr Oetker advert is driving me mad - he is so no quite in tune when singing , and pulls it in at the very last minute

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/10/2018 20:41

That's where I keep mine, too shower

bookbook · 09/10/2018 20:42

I'm an old trout too - joining the whinge club!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/10/2018 20:42

Same here fleas

I definitely thought the meringues would be beige.

bookbook · 09/10/2018 20:43

ooh, I use a lot of chickpeas ( and a lot of other beans/pulses as well )

PrincessOnTheInternet · 09/10/2018 20:43

Glad it's not just me @SneakyGremlins Blush Grin
