Came on to find this thread as I’m so outraged that Rahul avoided going home! Shocking! I liked Rahul at the beginning but he is really irritating me now!
Quite glad ruby got SB though. She was solid throughout.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 16/10/2018 21:42

It’s a bit unfair on Briony having a round which in part necessitates cutting bread very thinly. It can’t be at all easy for her
I think the problem was that her bread was still too warm to slice thinly, rather than any difficulty in wielding a bread knife.
She's been pretty dexterous with delicate and heavy handed tasks in the past

PrincessScarlett · 16/10/2018 21:50

I can't remember who it was but someone on extra slice last Friday made the comment that Rahul is completely fake in all his false modesty and humbleness.

I bet Rahul has a blinder of a week next week and will be full of himself and then be favourite to win.

You can argue Manon didn't meet the brief but at least all of hers were edible. I think she was robbed and I also think Rahul has been set up from the beginning to win the whole thing.

Snugglepiggy · 16/10/2018 21:51

Rahul is seriously annoying me now.I didn't expect Mannon to win the whole thing but felt she deserved to stay over Rahul based on that performance.Ruby or KimJoy are my preferred winners now.

SneakyGremlins · 16/10/2018 22:03

Watching it now, shut the fuck up Rahul with your whiny self shame.

southeastdweller · 16/10/2018 22:06

Why the hate for him? I think he's genuinely lacking in confidence.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2018 22:07

Have been (unexpectedly) out tonight I expected to get back in time for at lest half the show but didn't.

I am watching on catch up now, but have read the comments - I WANTED RAHUL OUT!!

I am watching the rye bread now - Briony's looks amazing going into the oven.

Fuzzy - do you put cinnamon in your tadpole tart? I find it takes away the aftertaste of pond slime.

Justmuddlingalong · 16/10/2018 22:08

Yes, so lacking in confidence that he applied for a spot on one of the UK's biggest cookery competitions.

TwitterQueen1 · 16/10/2018 22:11

That was a travesty of justice! I got fed up with Rahul a couple of weeks ago and was quite relieved that he was obviously going tonight having come last in each of the 3 tasks - and then he lives to fight another day! Why? Manon's food was at least edible, Rahul's wasn't. He doesn't deserve to win Shame on you you #GBBO.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2018 22:12

That's what I think Justmuddling.

If you have no confidence you don't volunteer for that sort of pressure.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2018 22:12

I like K-J's buzzy bees!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2018 22:13

Paul is being a total twat!

bookbook · 16/10/2018 22:15

Been out, so just watched on catch up
I will go back and read , but what?? How did Rahul manage to stay in ( not that Manon was that good) But I think Briony should have got star baker - she did better in the technical by a long chalk

bookbook · 16/10/2018 22:18

See I am not the only one thinking that judging was iffy - just read the posts ^^ . I felt really sorry for Kim Joy too , trying not to cry

Butterymuffin · 16/10/2018 22:21

Hmm. It makes a mockery of the oft used line about 'one bad week can be It, no matter what you've done before' when a contestant is clearly let off having a bad week because they've become a favourite on the basis of previous weeks.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2018 22:22

I thought those apple thingies were yourshire puds . . .

Biggreygoose · 16/10/2018 22:24

Manon didn't fulfill the brief on two of the tasks. (Didn't make a rye bread and basically made a bad pain au chocolate for the showstopper).

Having said that Rahul should have gone. He was terrible.

And the false modesty/woe is getting on my ample tits.

StateofIndependance · 16/10/2018 22:35

But the whole point is you have to make and be judged on the things they ask you to make. Otherwise people could just bake anything they know they're good at, which is arguably what Manon did in sticking to classic French recipes.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2018 22:35

I agree with whoever said the bread people was a boring task.

Effectively it's just decorating a biscuit.

SneakyGremlins · 16/10/2018 22:38

I've just got to Manon's description of her pastry thing.

SneakyGremlins · 16/10/2018 22:38

Biscuit decorating kits are about £5 in Morrisons Hmm this doesn't seem difficult

southeastdweller · 16/10/2018 22:40

If you have no confidence you don't volunteer for that sort of pressure

That seems really simplistic to me. I know there's lots of jobs I can do well but when it's come to the interviews, I've gone to pieces.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2018 22:44

I'm fed-up of him promising that he's going home when I know he doesn't.

We'll have to agree to differ about him Dweller

SneakyGremlins · 16/10/2018 22:46

My face is literally 🙄 every time he simpers

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2018 22:47

Leave Kim-Joy alone you nasty bully!
