Oh good idea! So they would be thinking they were going to make it themselves? (sorry I'm a bit dense today Grin )

3luckystars · 11/10/2018 16:02

Yes!

If I'm writing a recipe for someone else, I put so much info in to it (like PAGES with a story) and I notice my friends do this for me too.

But if I'm writing a recipe for myself, its just:
8 flour, 6 sugar, 6 butter, 1 egg, mix in, 180 for 40.

whatashower · 11/10/2018 16:09

Its a brilliant idea luckystars all the competitive side of WI show bake competitions and Secret Squirrel xmas gifting (sort of) - you dont know what you are getting or from whom - rolled into one ! 🤣. Camera focuses in on major disappointment when a recipe is allocated! There is drama the stuff of legends when the recipients baking is better than the original! Top stuff! I would copyright that format right now. 👍

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 11/10/2018 16:49

Regards your Me Week suggestion, 3luckystars, I’m guessing Schaden meant the idea was inspired, not insipid. (She has a preternaturally malevolent autocorrect demon which stalks her - tragic really)

I also think it is genius by the way, take a bow 👏 👏 👏

Aw fleas, I thought schaden was just being blunt (not really). 😀

SchadenfreudePersonified · 11/10/2018 21:20

Bugger! Did I put "insipid"?

fleas (who knows me so well) is right. I meant INSPIRED!

Slobbers! Down boy - Down, Sir! I will not tell you again!

Take a good sniff, Slobbers! Now -find that autocorrect! SEEK, SEEK, SEEK!

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2018 09:56

Grin Grin Grin that poor keyboard Schade you'll get reported to the CTK authorities Cruelty to Keyboads Grin Grin

FuzzyCustard · 12/10/2018 10:04

I love your idea luckystars ..that would be a great twist. It would only work once though, or they'd just find the most fiendish recipe they could!

FuzzyCustard · 12/10/2018 10:05

(I am ignoring schady's rather excellent autocorrect in case I start laughing again. I wouldn't want to embarrass anyone)

ppeatfruit · 12/10/2018 10:46

I was wondering if there's a copyright on the programme anyway, Paul's and Prue's recipes aren't totally original are they?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2018 15:49

I doubt that there are any truly original recipes TBH*. And I suspect to professional chefs pick up ideas etc along the way and customise them for their own nefarious ends.

Even my groundbreaking "stickleback en croute" owes a lot to FuzzyCustard* and the inventor of en croute. Getting 20,000 sticklebacks per portion stops it being as popular as it deserves

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/10/2018 15:50

Sorry - have no idea why random bolding and italicising

Autocorrect has gone to ground somewhere - Slobbers is a lazy are!

iklboo · 16/10/2018 15:53

Seeing as it's Danish week does a bacon butty count as a show door stopper?

FuzzyCustard · 16/10/2018 17:25

I love Stickleback en croute. We only have it at Christmas though as it takes all year to catch the fish. However it is better than the starter...Tadpole Tart.

whatashower · 16/10/2018 19:45

... just getting organised for tonight after whipping up a clam and winkle pavlova with aquafaba (yak)

actually I can seriously recommend adding red pepper and walnut pesto and creme fraiche to home made french onion soup base. It was awesome. 👍 no baking involved!

whatashower · 16/10/2018 19:48

Autocorrect had ‘creme’ as ‘crime’ which I took extremely personally 😡 although on reflection I quite like ‘crime fraiche’ and wonder if it will be implicated this evening 😀

whatashower · 16/10/2018 19:49

Shall we have a sweepstake on the number of times certain danish keywords are mentioned?

whatashower · 16/10/2018 19:55

Rye 5-1
Kringle 3-1
Cinnamon odds on favourite

(Don’t have a scooby about betting obvs)

alwayswingingit · 16/10/2018 19:58

checking in

FuzzyCustard · 16/10/2018 19:59

Hello whatashower. Signing in for tonight's Danish Week. (apart from pastries I know nothing of Danish food.

FuzzyCustard · 16/10/2018 20:00

I think "sandi should know this one" will come up at least four times.
"Sandi's mum" may also feature as a phrase.

AngeloMysterioso · 16/10/2018 20:00

Let's go!

FuzzyCustard · 16/10/2018 20:02

Rahul...what is a "crawshaw"???

FuzzyCustard · 16/10/2018 20:03

Prue is wearing a very fetching IKEA curtain. (Well, it is Scandinavian)
