OP posts:

Was the ‘trial’ just an enquiry into the accident then? She wasn’t actually charged with trying to kill him was she??

Mamia15 · 21/10/2018 22:24

burnout - yes but he made her believe it was her fault and not once did tell the truth despite seeing her pain.

mrsmuddlepies · 21/10/2018 22:24

I think he confessed that the killing was deliberate after the nightmare flight and he had done it for Jo because of her early struggles with her baby. It was at that point that she undid his seatbelt and drove off the road.

Janus · 21/10/2018 22:27

I didn’t see it like that at all Mrs, I think he genuinely mixed up the medicine but let her take the blame for as long as he could. That’s why she called him a coward before unbuckling him.

mrsmuddlepies · 21/10/2018 22:29

There was the bit in a flash back where he shouted, I did it for you. I think it was a conscious decision to kill Noah.

Gemini69 · 21/10/2018 22:31

I loved it.. wasn't keen on the whole 'creepy' making her stand on the spot where baby Noah was buried .. without her realising.. and him keeping the photo.. sick bastard... but the conclusion was great viewing... just great Flowers

IAmBeyonceAlways · 21/10/2018 22:31

I dont think he would have given the medicine so publicly if he really meant to kill him

Clawdy · 21/10/2018 22:32

He didn't deliberately kill Noah. He certainly didn't in the book.

Gemini69 · 21/10/2018 22:33

I didn't get the impression he killed Noah deliberately either.. I think he was calculated in blaming her though.. utterly calculated...

StripySocksAndDocs · 21/10/2018 22:35

Thought it was good. I thought the two faces were the grieving mother and loss of fiancé, and the liar to save face.

Clawdy · 21/10/2018 22:35

It wasnt sick, him taking the photo, it was his weird way of keeping them together. He loved them both in his own strange way.

ColumboOnTheCase · 21/10/2018 22:36

Mrsmuddles - I think he was referring to the fact that he had lied to her about a Noah’s resting place. He said he did it for her as the police were watching them and searched around the tree.

mrsmuddlepies · 21/10/2018 22:38

That is a relief then. It made him unbearably sinister if he had plotted it from the start.

Clawdy · 21/10/2018 22:39

He wanted her to think Noah was buried somewhere beautiful.

RandomMess · 21/10/2018 22:39

Joanna had been led to believe that she had accidentally killed Noah so carried that guilt.

When she found out that it was in fact Al and he had pinned the blame on Jo she finally cracked. She had thought he was protecting her when all along he was covering his own back as he wanted his daughter back.

He realised in the car what he had done, Jo had wanted to come clean but he didn't and tricked her into believing it was error on the plane so he could persuade her to go along with his plan.

RandomMess · 21/10/2018 22:41

Jo wanted a photo of Noah's resting place so he obliged but couldn't tell her. He told her so many lies... in the end she realised nearly everything was lies.

PrincessScarlett · 21/10/2018 22:41

His killing of Noah, albeit an accident, was not the final straw. His behaviour afterwards and his lying and treatment of Jo, blaming her for Noah's death, embellishing their celebrity status because it was all about him, that was the final straw and why Jo killed him.

When she was sat on the floor in the nursery struggling to cope, grieving for Noah and his response was "I lost my job today" was just typical of his behaviour.

MissEliza · 21/10/2018 22:42

I might have accidentally killed Noah but he gave the baby medicine because he couldn't be arsed dealing with a screaming baby.

Janus · 21/10/2018 22:43

But what was the trial for then?? She wasn’t accused of murder so not sure why she was on trial??

Delatron · 21/10/2018 22:43

Yes, what was she on trial for?

MissEliza · 21/10/2018 22:43

Oops I didn't!!! Honest! It was Alasdair!!! (Too much Rioja tonight clearly)

AnyFucker · 21/10/2018 22:45

It was the inquest into Al's death, I think

The publicity was because he was a "public figure" as such, and notorious because his baby disappeared under mysterious circs

PrincessScarlett · 21/10/2018 22:46

I think the 2 faces thing was her way of escaping his control. She realised what he was capable of and so to get to the truth she had to put on a face - the agreeing to marry him, the trying for another baby but still taking the pill. It gave her time to find a way out and the whole time it was Alistair that taught her everything he knew about spin and lying.

cadburyegg · 21/10/2018 22:47

Anyone else think Chloe was odd?

Didn’t quite get the scene with her holding the picture up outside the court room.

RandomMess · 21/10/2018 22:48

It was a murder trial, at the end of episode 3 it was revealed...

Scotland has 3 outcomes; guilty, not-guilty and not proven.
