OP posts:

I think /hope baby is still Alive hence why she is expressing to give milk to someone

I assume it’s a set up so ex wife looks unstable and he gets his eldest back

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 08/10/2018 18:07

Unless the thing about the breast milk is that she overdosed the baby (via her milk). Didn't someone say she was on morphine for her back pain?

53rdWay · 08/10/2018 18:15

Maybe it's some kind of double-bluff where Alistair's setting up Jo? After all he staged that scenario where she's the one who left the baby alone in the car.

neveradullmoment99 · 08/10/2018 18:17

That's what I was thinking. I think he ends up framing jo to get what he wants.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/10/2018 18:21

Yes if no baby in car then why make her out to be the one who left him

As sure no NEW mum would

WhyOhWine · 08/10/2018 18:27

My currently preferred theory is that Noah is dead, caused by the drugs in some way. Jo is playing along because Al has led her to believe it is her fault and she will go to prison. The framing of the ex is opportunistic rather than part of a plan.

I do not think it is a pre-meditiated plan to frame the ex wife with Noah being hidden somewhere because i am not sure how they would then produce Noah without it unravelling.

I do also like the theory above that Al is trying to set Jo up.

ohreallyohreallyoh · 08/10/2018 18:37

Or he’s convinced her it was her fault so she’s expressing to effectively get rid of the evidence? As well as ease pain. If the baby was known to have dies, the doctors would give her something to dry up the milk but as they are playing at kidnapping, she has to keep on pretending. This assumes, I think, that Al’s mum is not in the know. It’s about keeping up appearances on one level and giving the drug time to get through her system on another. Except it will be him that made the dosing mistake.

placemats · 08/10/2018 18:44

Breast milk is also known to dry up when a shock occurs. Any drugs in the system would be long gone by now.

I'm just surprised that her bad back has suddenly disappeared. She must be in agony.

Undercoverbanana · 08/10/2018 20:07

Still can’t work out how that sock with Noah’s DNA was in Chloe’s bedroom.

Even if Al had sent it to Chloe as a sort of introduction to her new baby brother before they arrived, Chloe would have just told the police that. Have the police even questioned Chloe?

Bestseller · 08/10/2018 20:12

The bottles on the plain are still bothering me, but surely if you're taking drugs into Aus they need to be properly labeled? Wouldn't you just get a small 100ml bottle rather than decant?

What was the triangle thing she was talking about with the psychiatrist? She said she was the victim "at the beginning"

And the scenes with the red dress where she's become something of a siren? I know she's very attractive in all her scenes but she's not glamorous even before Noah was born, so why would she be later?

SouthWestmom · 08/10/2018 20:35

Drama triangle?

Rescuer-victim-persecutor

SouthWestmom · 08/10/2018 20:35

Weird how Al seems to think the house I being bugged. I wonder why he thinks the police would do that?

PrincessScarlett · 08/10/2018 21:11

My Idiot DH has googled the book and told me. I'm livid. I was enjoying trying to work it all out.

Bestseller · 08/10/2018 21:19

I can't remember the last time I was this gripped by a TV series. I seem to hardly watch and TV (or films) theses days and fritter away that lovely relaxing time on my phone instead. As I'm enjoying The Cry, what else should I watch?

OutwardBound2016 · 08/10/2018 21:56

The dodgy policeman asked where the yellow bib was, possibility that he wanted it to plant in ex wife’s house?. As he couldn’t get his hands on it he used one of his socks instead as instructed by Alistair?

Clawdy · 08/10/2018 22:11

Surprised Joanna was wanting to drive off on her own. Would she have had an Australian driving licence?

Magicpaintbrush · 08/10/2018 22:17

I think (unless I'm wrong) that Alastair was missing from the Scottish court room scenes, which makes me think he is either not supporting Jo at that point in the story because of something she has done OR he is dead.

I think they have cooked up this plot together - not sure why - and based on Jo's composure in court and at the counselling session I would guess the baby is still alive, but their plot has been discovered, and my guess is that Jo has killed Alastair.

Not sure where the bush fire comes into it.

I'm soooo tempted to look up the ending on wikipedia. Somebody stop me!!!!

Citrasun · 08/10/2018 22:52

Clawdy she wanted to go and buy a SIM card for the phone she found. Also you can drive in most countries in the world on your own UK licence for a limited amount of time.

Alastair is so slimy.

The dodgy cop is the guy who played Nick Poulos in Heartbreak High, I thought I recognized him, he’s aged quite well.

Everincreasingfrequency · 09/10/2018 06:56

At some point the fact that Peter used to go out with Alex (and doesn't want the people in melbourne to know about it) is going to be relevant - I suspect Alastair will threaten to reveal all, once Peter starts asking him awkward questions.

I can't work out how the booty got into Chloe's room - have we seen Alastair go to their house (I thought Alex has been her picking up)? Or Stella Gonet?

I thought Jo wore the red dress in court, though I can't quite remember? Might have to fast forward through ep 1 to check !

SoupDragon · 09/10/2018 06:59

I think she was taking Oramorph - I vaguely recall them saying it but I could have made that up!

What is wrong with her back? Have they explained that?

SixToEightInchesOfSnow · 09/10/2018 07:27

If you’ve Googled the ending but your dh/dp hasn’t, you can have great fun making correct predictions so you look like a super sleuth 🧐.

Aridane · 09/10/2018 08:20

but, please, confine that behaviour to your DP and don’t play it out with other posters!!

placemats · 09/10/2018 08:45

There is a shocking twist to the end in the book (I've no idea what it is).

So: Bootie with Noah's DNA found in Chloe's bedroom, Alex, a stalker, now charged with abduction.
Jo was taking medicine for back ache which has now disappeared.
Jo is taking sleeping tablets given to her by Alistair.
Jo has bruise on arm.
Jo and Alistair seen running together in the bush by a driver who has posted the sighting on social media - which I'm pretty sure the police are watching.
Jo and Alistair have to re run the 'plan'.
The baby wasn't in the car seat and so wasn't abducted.
