I enjoyed it a lot, particularly all the tension with the suicide vest (though obviously he wasn't going to blow himself up, so it was only a bit tense). I can't pretend I understand very much of what was really going on, though.

I had wondered before whether there was going to be something of a twist with Nadia - it seemed unlike Mercurio to do something as cliched as a meek Muslim woman manipulated by her husband. But it seemed incredibly unlikely to me that the expert bombmaker would be chosen as a suicide bomber. Surely you hang on to your expert bombmaker as your most precious resource?

DP pointed out that while Chanel was working for Julia, there was no need for Craddock to be feeding information about Julia's movements, as Chanel was already in position to do it.

MarshaBradyo · 24/09/2018 10:26

He was good but I found some of the others hard to watch their acting felt a bit hammy

Especially Craddock, who was hard enough to be involved in a whole plot then crying, plus confessing as she did felt forced

Otherwise the vest scene was great

DarlingNikita · 24/09/2018 10:27

David Budd was put in the PPO role because of the link to Andy the gunman not because of the bomb on the train. That just made it easier to move him.

What link? They didn't discover that he knew Andy until the last episode.

MargoLovebutter · 24/09/2018 10:31

but why were secret services trying to get rid of Budd?

PollyFlinderz · 24/09/2018 10:35

but why were secret services trying to get rid of Budd?

I think it’s all just down to smoke and mirrors.

MargoLovebutter · 24/09/2018 10:37

Lol, that doesn't help PollyFlinderz! I need a logical explanation! Grin

PenelopeShitStop · 24/09/2018 10:49

Think there's definitely some unfinished business between Anne Sampson and the London mafia. In the last episode you saw Deepak studying some intell which showed Sampson had links to organised crime. He also mentioned this to Louise during the vest scene, saying it would be easy for Sampson to pin everything on David when he was dead.

ShinyElena · 24/09/2018 11:05

Sampson was by far the most intriguing character.

wowfudge · 24/09/2018 11:06

I can't see SlashDave willingly putting the vest on tbh. You have to see everything to understand what's going on, surely?

It was cracking and, as a pp stated, a drama not a documentary.

prh47bridge · 24/09/2018 11:07

but why were secret services trying to get rid of Budd

Because he was in possession of the compromising material and knew their role in providing it to Julia. They needed to recover the material and stop it becoming public to cover up their role in want amounted to an attempted coup. Also, Budd being dead would mean it was easy to pin everything on him, which would in turn allow them to blame the police which would further their agenda. It turns out it was the police who were leaking but the exposure of the compromising material by the police (presumably Sampson) forced the head of the security services to resign.

ShinyElena · 24/09/2018 11:08

but why were secret services trying to get rid of Budd?
As Anne Sampson put it, the Security Services tried to cover up the fact that they instigated a coup against a democratically elected Prime Minister (when they gave the kompromat to Julia Montague).

DarlingNikita · 24/09/2018 11:08

But it seemed incredibly unlikely to me that the expert bombmaker would be chosen as a suicide bomber. Surely you hang on to your expert bombmaker as your most precious resource?

Yes, this puzzles me.

I can't see SlashDave willingly putting the vest on tbh. He didn't.

wowfudge · 24/09/2018 11:10

@DarlingNikita - I never said he did: what was the pointof quoting part of my pp and stating that? I was responding to someone upthread.

wowfudge · 24/09/2018 11:11

Christ: you don't have to see everything to understand what's going on! Crucial missing word.

DarlingNikita · 24/09/2018 11:15

wow, sorry, but I don't know what you were responding to so I didn't understand your point. I still don't, without context –what were you responding to?

Jux · 24/09/2018 11:25

.......and they all lived happily ever after.

Weakest ending ever. Pathetic.

wowfudge · 24/09/2018 11:32

A pp was querying how they got him into the bomb vest when he was unconscious. It would have been the only way - he'd have said "shoot me" if threatened with that in order to put it on. There were at least two of them who hauled him out of the club/bar they were in.

DarlingNikita · 24/09/2018 11:40

I see. Yes, I agree, I don't think he'd have put it on even if threatened.

wowfudge · 24/09/2018 11:42

@Jux - how would you have liked to see it end?

QuaterMiss · 24/09/2018 11:45

What’s the location of the block of flats he lived in?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 24/09/2018 11:56

I love the way that a couple of weeks ago, 99% of us had never heard of the word Kompromat, but here we are using it like everyday language like 'bread'

MargoLovebutter · 24/09/2018 12:00

Breakfast I'm wondering how soon I will be able to use Kompromat in a meeting?! Not that I am CSI or MI5 but I feel like it would be fun to refer to it somehow like I was on the inside track with the intelligence services! Grin

Mind you then I might get promoted and have to start talking suicide bombers down and who knows where that might lead!!!!! Wink

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 24/09/2018 12:39

Sorry if this has already been posted, I skimmed through the thread and couldn't see anything:

www.heart.co.uk/showbiz/tv-movies/movies/bodyguard-jed-mercurio-three-four-series-tv-finale/

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 24/09/2018 12:43

Watched first 2 episodes, gave up but came back for finale.
Had guessed wrongly Gina McKee was a wrong 'un.
Hope bomb disposal expert Daniel Chung appears in a second series.

ALovelyWoman · 24/09/2018 12:51

Quater it's the Whittington Estate in Archway.
