Box set.

Lock the door.

Settle down.

DuggeesWoggle · 25/09/2018 22:46

I almost envy you Jux, getting to watch it all for the first time. Enjoy!

Jux · 25/09/2018 22:47

Oh gosh I have seen it! The first series, somewhere from the middle I think. Then when the 2nd series was coming up, dh couldn't remember it, missed all the trailers and opted to watch something else.

Yes, OK, I'll look for box set and start from the beginning.

Lauren0rder · 25/09/2018 22:53

Jux it’s on Netflix and it’s completely brilliant!!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 26/09/2018 00:08

I may have seen the very end (1.something episodes) of one series of LoD. Was there a very shockingly scene in a car? If so then it is the one I’m thinking of.

Will have to watch at some point.

PhyllisDietrichson · 26/09/2018 08:45

prh47bridge I see ta.

Re filming in London streets: They often film very early morning, and do retakes if someone gets in the way, but generally a runner will be around to ask people to close a window and move away, which is rarely a real problem. We have lots of filming in my part of London as it's got picturesque streets, and people are usually very accommodating of a film crew. Green-screen / and or graphics is expensive. I suspect they may not have used it for the street scenes in BG, but used it where abs necessary like the explosion.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 26/09/2018 10:51

Haven't they been trailing a new series of LoD?

PseudoBadger · 26/09/2018 12:10

They are filming now, released 2019

YesThisIsMe · 26/09/2018 15:39

Yes the City of London is pretty much dead at the weekends so you can easily get permission to shut off entire streets for a whole day. The initial location for the bomb confrontation is between Moorgate and the Barbican: bustling from Monday to Friday but quiet as the grave on a Sunday. No shops or cafes open, no office workers. I don’t know where the garden square they moved to after that was though.

Everincreasingfrequency · 26/09/2018 21:19

What did Commander Anne Sampson mean when she was in the park and said "we'll respin the wheel"?

Judging by the reactions that meant they were going to shoot Dave/David but why does that phrase mean that?

prh47bridge · 26/09/2018 21:31

My thoughts...

She had ordered the police to pull back, clearing the area. "Respin the wheel" suggests gambling on a different. Putting that together with pulling back suggests that she was intending to shoot him.

Gooseysgirl · 26/09/2018 23:13

I recognised the location of Budd's flat instantly as I sometimes work nearby, it's Highgate/Archway area in London across the road from a large school so I'm guessing they filmed during school hols early in the morning or at a weekend.

Everincreasingfrequency · 27/09/2018 08:53

Yes phr, I think that must be it - maybe the Commander was talking euphemistically because Vic was there.

Have watched again (!) and it wasn't clear why superintendent Craddock decided the game was up and confessed - as far as i could tell there was very little evidence against her. She could have claimed she was using Luke as an informant, or even that he just turned up to threaten her out of the blue. Interestingly she shouted at Dave/David not to shoot him, whereas if he'd been dead she could have made up any story she liked. I think perhaps the idea was that she genuinely felt remorseful.

Though perhaps she realised that once the police started going through her bank accounts it was all going to be so obvious that she wouldn't be able to get away with it (wouldn't she have been paid in cash though?)

Mrsmadevans · 27/09/2018 10:33

I am still not sure that Sampson isn't guilty of something .

Jux · 27/09/2018 13:06

wowfudge, well what I saw was baddies got caught, hero got the girl, all lived happily ever after. Very fairy tale.

Luckily, I'm not the writer so I don't have to try to do better.

MissEliza · 27/09/2018 13:54

Sampson is an enigmatic character. Her reaction when she saw Aitken on the board of suspects doesn't square with her acting like she's on the side of law and order. She seemed really upset when JM was killed but perhaps that was guilt.

foofooyeah · 27/09/2018 22:30

Definitely needs more Daniel Chung in the next series. I want him to follow me around all day and calmly tell me how to do my life

This.

louise5754 · 28/09/2018 07:01

This looks absolutely nothing like Julia 🙄

The square is Woburn Square, also pretty quiet on a miserable rainy weekend, heaving M-F in half decent weather.

Also, for those saying can’t have a series 2 without the main character: True Detective anyone?

prh47bridge · 28/09/2018 13:26

Taggart managed to run for 16 years after the main character died.

ChoccyJules · 28/09/2018 23:29

I assumed the person in the window was Haddock’s daughter.

Gre8scott · 29/09/2018 02:35

Wasn't the person in the window just a neighbour she had her phone so I thought she was calling the pokice

PollyFlinderz · 29/09/2018 04:58

I assumed the person in the window was a relative.

It looked nothing like the Home Secretary. 🙄

Yellowsunredroses · 29/09/2018 08:31

Yes I assumed daughter too
