OMG the stress!!!
I don't think Nadiya was an engineer for a job and they missed it, I thought she meant it as she had engineered the bombs.
But surely suicide bombing is an activity one does only the once? Why did she make extra vests? How did the crims know the sniper wouldn't work and they'd need a bomb and a suicide vest as well? She must have made them before the train bomb as surely she's been in jail since then.
DH has just asked me if I'll now accept that Julia is dead Blush. Glad things seemed to be looking up with him and Vicky though.
Totally thought it was the head police commander, not Mrs Brittas. Loved the way Sharma changed when he realised what was happening.
Nadiya certainly a great actress. A bit too chilling for me though.

KnotsInMay · 23/09/2018 23:11

“why did his wife suddenly completely change her mind and decide to give him another chance”

Because he was getting help for his MH issues, which is what she wanted all along. And because she saw through the bomb vest scenes how good and brave and selfless he was, and he had apologised to her.

She loved him all along, anyway!

OraangeSoda · 23/09/2018 23:13

If he dies by being shot , the tape will push his thumb onto the trigger and it will detonate it.
Classic suicide bomber thing, so even if they're stopped and killed they can take some casualties with them

That’s not quite right. His thumb has to remain pushing down on the switch the whole time. If he was to remove the pressure from the switch then it would detonate. That’s why his hand went into spasm as he had to keep the button pushed down for so long.

If he was shot dead then the pressure would release and set the bomb off.

stargazer2030 · 23/09/2018 23:16

Have loved this but can someone just tell me how they planted the bomb that actually killed Julia? Was it in the briefcase and did the assistant have anything to do with it? If not where was it and who detonated it? Have I missed that bit?
I love a happy ending too and it's left it open for series 2.

batshitebather · 23/09/2018 23:17

I enjoyed it. Nadiya was a good twist but I’m still a little confused why she didn’t blow herself up on the train, fear?

So what is Chanels position in the underworld?

I suspected Gina much more so than Craddock but still think Gina has the capacity to be dodge.

Who sanctions the SS releases?

batshitebather · 23/09/2018 23:18

stargazer2030 It was under the stage & activated by weight I think

TweeBee · 23/09/2018 23:18

Also it was annoying me how they kept referring to the murder of Julia Montgue / a woman has been killed when in fact at least three people were murdered and should all be thought of.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 23/09/2018 23:20

OrangeSoda how did they maintain pressure whilst he was unconscious? If it was taped down hard enough, why wasn’t that enough when he came round?

tinstar · 23/09/2018 23:23

Nadiya was a good twist but I’m still a little confused why she didn’t blow herself up on the train, fear?

I think so, because she said she'd atoned for not blowing herself up by what she went on to do (making the bomb that killed the Home Secretary, killing the policemen outside the school)

FogCutter · 23/09/2018 23:26

Erm did I miss how/ where they planted the bomb that killed Julia?

Or am I being a bit thick?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 23/09/2018 23:33

She didn't say - just that it was non believers that did it. The Bad Boss did tell the criminals about the security and checks didn't she?

Lauren0rder · 23/09/2018 23:35

I did think there should be a funeral for Julia and that everyone would have attended......yet we saw nothing.

And her ex husband disappeared quickly.

I do think she’s alive and kicking somewhere.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 23/09/2018 23:36

Wasn't it a quiet family affair?

OraangeSoda · 23/09/2018 23:37

OrangeSoda how did they maintain pressure whilst he was unconscious? If it was taped down hard enough, why wasn’t that enough when he came round?

I think the tape probably did apply enough pressure but as he was conscious he was probably scared and therefore made sure he applied enough pressure to the switch to stop it detonating.

Gersemi · 23/09/2018 23:38

So Craddock just starts talking and it all comes out rather than saying “no comment.” Why would she admit it all so easily l?

Pretty obviously, because she was bang to rights and co-operating was the only way of reducing her sentence.

EvilRingahBitch · 23/09/2018 23:41

Did anyone else think of Mitchell and Webb’s Poirot sketch when Nadia started doing her Evil Voice?

m.youtube.com/watch?v=i9iQ1yU5Ops

Her fingerprints were all over the interior of the vest btw which is probably why she decided that the gig was up and she might as well tell all. Still makes zero sense that she’d be doing the suicide bombing herself.

EvilRingahBitch · 23/09/2018 23:44

I was also annoyed by Craddock and everyone else focusing on Julia’s death and completely ignoring the murdered police officer (and poor innocent Tahir).

Gersemi · 23/09/2018 23:44

I don't understand people moaning that there wasn't a twist. The fact that Craddock and Nadia were so directly involved were both twists. How much more do you want? If it were any twister than that, you'd be moaning that it was too improbable.

On another note, it was probably wishful thinking on my part, but I did wonder whether Gina McKee's "I couldn't possibly comment" was homage to Ian Richardson in House of Cards.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 23/09/2018 23:45

OrangeSoda yep I guess it’s the kind of thing you don’t take a risk with once you’re not knocked out. I suppose they were just expecting the bomb to detonate where he was, once he regained consciousness or for him to get shot once Mrs Brittas set him up.

Yellowsunredroses · 23/09/2018 23:45

Germsemi - I think his boss was covering up for Anne cradock - they were both in cahoots and his boss took the rap for them both to protect her family

Gersemi · 23/09/2018 23:47

Still makes zero sense that she’d be doing the suicide bombing herself.

Not really, She was a fanatic. She'd made lots of lovely bombs for them. She probably intended to go out in a final sacrifice which would take her straight to Allah and whatever the female equivalent of the reward of 50 virgins would be. But ultimately she bottled out.

Gersemi · 23/09/2018 23:49

They told us in the last episode that the bomb that killed Julia was planted under the stage, but sealed so that sniffer dogs wouldn't find it. I imagine it wouldn't be that difficult for the organised crime bods to plant it.

2rebecca · 23/09/2018 23:53

Nadia being a great bombing mastermind makes no sense when in episode 1 she was planning to kill herself on a random suburban train.
Julia wasn't on that train, just a selection of ordinary people. If Nadia was so useful why would the organisation want to lose that knowledge to kill some randoms? Surely she'd strap up some bloke keen to get to the mythical virgins.
I liked her not being a stereotypical subservient ethnic wife but her being a bombing genius didn't fit with the plot b

BagelGoesWalking · 23/09/2018 23:53

BagelGoesWalking · 23/09/2018 23:54

Gersemi Ian Richardson in House of Cards was probably one of the best things we'll ever see on tv. Superb.
