Hmmmm it was a diverting way to spend a Sunday evening, but Line of Duty it ain’t 😂

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 23/09/2018 22:33

But why all the mystery around Vicky’s boyfriend? 🤔

IntentsAndPorpoises · 23/09/2018 22:34

How likely is it that a criminal gang would go to a jihadist group for a bomb?

I was a bit disappointed in tonight's episode. It was certainly no "urgent exit required"

Yellowsunredroses · 23/09/2018 22:34

Red herring the only

Crinkle77 · 23/09/2018 22:34

Derigueur yes a complete let down.

KnotsInMay · 23/09/2018 22:34

“Anyone else think that the car might blow up at the end??”

I was thinking ROLL THE CREDITS I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU IF YOU KILL THEM ALL NOW!

So what were the SS up to? They were in in it, right?

Fairylea · 23/09/2018 22:36

Maybe Vicky’s boyfriend was actually a girlfriend and Julia was going to appear in her dressing gown coming down the stairs at the end?

That’s what actually crossed my mind. BlushGrin

Hepzibar · 23/09/2018 22:36

First and last episodes the best. In between, OK, but as posters have said its no LOD.

Clearly scope for second series because I have no idea who are the bad guys.

Deepak clearly a Good Guy Smile

myrtleWilson · 23/09/2018 22:36

oh I liked it - the fact that Vicky's boyfriend was a complete blind alley for the viewers, the lack of a bomb at the end as we've become accustomed to expect But still questions about the acting/now not acting Home Secretary and collusion...

I agree with clawdy the non explosion ending is the twist

Defrack · 23/09/2018 22:38

@bearbehind.

  1. To dominate the situation. She wants to control them and to do it she needs to be loud vocals nd willing to shoot
2.because David didn't want to move, he thought they would kill her and he thought she was forced to do it 3.the sniper was shooting at them while reversing however he moved them out of the line of sight. The sniper scopeonly has a limited site range, so the sniper needed to move to see them again.
  1. Because he is an armed officer and is moving to neutralise a threat that poses a risk to life. The guard isn't going to say what a minute buddy don't you want back up.
5.because it's his job to search all areas the Principal is in. Just because someone protects a room he needs to make sure nothing is wrong there. 6.He might have, he might not. Not his job to comment on the home secretary's activities is it? 7.they weren't expecting her too, and she is a light weight female and they're wearing extremely what kit. And carrying a gun so can't use their arms to power themselves like her.
  1. It's to show us that we can't judge people regardless of what they look like. We all saw a victim and an innocent person forced to do stuff, but really she was the mastermind. It shows us that woken aren't always the ones being forced to do stuff and can make their own decisions and choices.

Bearbehind - Yes, obviously the ‘Muslim baddie’ is a horrible stereotype (and it would have been a different stereotype thirty years ago) but given that, it was a neat twist to find her not the weak and vulnerable victim she was portrayed as.

glamorousgrandmother · 23/09/2018 22:39

vanGoghsDog he wasn't being PC with Nadia in ep 1, it was a racial stereotype - meek Muslim woman being used by her controlling husband.

whatashower · 23/09/2018 22:39

I thought that was gripping entertainment.

Entertainment. (Not documentary)

Its a consequence of hype is that expectations become .....beyond possibility with some. Agree that all the hype tends to take the gloss off something found enjoyable but that is the way it is.

I dont think I could have written a better script, so I will just remain happy to have been entertained.

DoryNow · 23/09/2018 22:40

Maybe Vicky's boyfriend never was , she just pretended there was one to keep David at bay after that first episode when he tried to kiss her?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 23/09/2018 22:40

I know everyone had poor wee Nadyia being "poor wee Nadyia" but even then, I would think someone in prison /custody for terrorism charges wouldn't have unrestricted Internet access to Google details of the school (of David's kids) and then email the details to her bomber mates

Ledehe · 23/09/2018 22:41

That ending really was a load of shite......

What a waste of a good series

DoryNow · 23/09/2018 22:41

But LOVED it!

Defrack · 23/09/2018 22:41

The whole point of introducing all these little sub characters like the boyfriend etc. Introducing the secret service etc as possible orchestrates etc is to make us think.
It's to make us think we know what is happening and going on when really none of us know anything.

KnotsInMay · 23/09/2018 22:42

I think jihadists get funds from all sorts of dubious sources, especially drugs.

“The ss was simply trying to cover up PM indiscretions, “ what? By sending the encrypted details to his enemy politician?

Defrack · 23/09/2018 22:43

@breakfast. She didn't Google. He told her enough info for her to tell her scummy terrorist mates and they can do all the googling.

Aww I loved it! Did not get it was the other female chief and Nadia! Was right the bad guy Luke was in Jamestown- not relevant! Also is it just me or where there a lot of camera shots of David's groin area??!! Wink. I'm so glad it was a happy ending, hope the son is getting on better in his new school ( yes I'm thinking too much into this!!)

DeRigueurMortis · 23/09/2018 22:44

To be fair I think the SS were trying to cover up the fact they'd leaked the information about the PM to Julia.

KnotsInMay · 23/09/2018 22:45

The boyfriend was just to give him ‘nothing to live for ‘. And, he didn’t shag Julia until after he thought his wife was shagging someone else. It precipitated his affair with Julia. Character background.
