Yikes - glad the laptop survived!

Yes I enjoyed Tim and Andy's commentary. Who was voted most boring in the end?! Grin I actually don't think either of them are boring, although I know that's probably the perception. I hope they team up again one day!

Raahh · 13/09/2018 22:06

IIrc, Tim was voted most boring Grin.

The laptop is a bit sticky . I'm just hoping it is still working in the morning Hmm.

magimedi · 14/09/2018 05:38

Tim can't be in the nice stakes as he fired a ball at a ball kid.

Walked past Delpoganger (love that one, private) yesterday. Swoon!

Back to work!

ferrier · 14/09/2018 06:56

I hope you're not serious about that magi Shock
If you've seen the incident you'll know it was totally without aggression. Tim was totally mortified, hugely apologetic and gave the ballkid a bunch of flowers iirc the following day. That puts him firmly in the very very nice category!

Mama1980 · 14/09/2018 08:37

I'm missing the tennis Sad
On the plus side I have a new niece, (my 7th!) born On Monday so I've been away getting my snuggly baby cuddles Smile

Mama1980 · 14/09/2018 08:38

Oh yes, Tim bless him is deathly dull. Can't remember the ball incident though.

Raahh · 14/09/2018 09:07

Oh, congratulations , Mama !

I'm struggling this morning. My laptop does indeed appear to be a bit dead. It is switching on, but the screen is almost black. So, I'm using an ancient old one that dd1 has, which has a massive keyboard, and it keeps making me mis-type. Grin.

Thanks raahh sorry to hear about the laptop.
I just booked our ATP finals tickets....exciting Grin

PrivateParkin · 14/09/2018 09:12

Hmm yes the ballgirl incident. He was defaulted on the spot. I notice none of the "sexism" campaigners remembered that one. Or Nalbandian kicking a line judge and being defaulted etc. Anyway.

Congrats on your new niece Mama! That's lovely. I have loads of nieces and nephews too - although only 2 in this country, sadly. But it's great being an auntie isn't it?

I'm missing the tennis too. Will try and catch some Davis Cup this weekend but it's not the same as a Slam!

Btw magi according to Instagram, there is a decoy DelPo hanging out in Tandil (with a new dog) - but we all know the real one is enjoying some R&R on your beach deck!!

PrivateParkin · 14/09/2018 09:16

Mama that's v exciting about the ATP finals! Good work! I'm going to hold out until the very last minute to see when Delpo is playing, and then try and get tickets on StubHub or something - as recommended by someone on one of the old threads.

I've been a couple of times before but never seen JMDP, so we'll see if this cunning plan works...

Mama1980 · 14/09/2018 10:12

Thanks private I have 13 nieces and nephew now in total, Christmas is fun WinkGrin
I have booked 2 consecutive days at the ATP so should see everyone my son got disappointed a few years ago when we missed seeing Djokovic (his favourite) so I've doubled up since.
I've seen JMDP before there, it was a great match, the crowd really got into it.
I remember the Nalbandian incident. I'm still unreasonably annoyed that the serena fiasco is dragging on, I hope they don't go on about it during the Davis cup coverage.

Raahh · 14/09/2018 10:36

oh, I am irritated by how the Serena thing rumbles on. I heard Jamie Murray going on about it on the radio this morning. (He's in the 'lots of people coach, she was just unlucky to get caught' camp). He thought her sexism claims were far fetched.
But, I'm hoping it hasn't ruined Osaka's preparations for Tokyo.

OP posts:
Mama1980 · 14/09/2018 11:53

I hope so too, I tried following Osaka on twitter but everything's very quiet. I really hope she has a great rest of the season.
The sexism claims are ridiculous when you look at the percentages of women penalised at the US open to the men, there were so many more men. I'm surprised it hasn't just died when everyone realised quite how ridiculous she sounded.

Mama1980 · 14/09/2018 17:20

Dan Evans is doing well here.

PrivateParkin · 14/09/2018 18:00

Blimey is that still going on?! I'm not near a TV at the mo so can't watch.

I couldn't find the semi finals on TV at all this weekend Sad

kazzaD66 · 14/09/2018 19:04

Dan Evans was a bit emotional at the end for obvious reasons. I do like watching him because he's quite old school - single-handed backhand, not afraid to come to the net and volleys well. And Norrie serving for 2 sets to love lead.

kazzaD66 · 14/09/2018 19:06

Suffice to say that DH had to pick DS up from school as I was unable to move from watching the red button Grin

PrivateParkin · 14/09/2018 19:24

Grin kazza quite right too!!

I'm quite pleased for Dan Evans. He's been a "loyal servant" (as they say - stupid phrase) to GB over the years. Hope he got a good reception - assume he would have done.

I read on twitter they actually aren't getting ranking points Confused So if it has no bearing on next year's competition (AFAIK - is that right?) and no points... why are they playing??

kazzaD66 · 14/09/2018 21:00

I'm pleased for him. Yes, he has been incredibly stupid - even before the cocaine debacle, he wasn't the model sportsman - but, as has been discussed before, in tennis performance cheating terms, what he did was no where near as bad as Skreechapova to pluck an example out of the air
Wished I hadn't mentioned Norrie, he's barely won a game since Confused

kazzaD66 · 14/09/2018 21:09

Not sure about the emergence of a very poorly looking dead rat on Dan's top lip either. Is it a Team GB bonding thing?

PrivateParkin · 14/09/2018 21:23

Grin could be! A bit like the French peroxide blonde hair thing?!

Mama1980 · 14/09/2018 21:52

Grin kazza could be....but wish it wasn't!

PrivateParkin · 15/09/2018 09:33

Ouch - that result for Norrie! His opponent must have taken inspiration from Rafa beating Thiem after a 0-6 first set! Did you watch it all Kazza? I didn't but I'll probably try and watch the doubles today. My DS has a friend coming over this afternoon, but they're at an age where they (mostly) like to entertain themselves, so hopefully I'll have some tennis-watching time...

Raahh · 15/09/2018 10:42

I missed everything yesterday, and fell asleep early- it's been a very stressful week Grin.

I saw Paire won his first match-I know he was a controversial pick for the team, but he proved to be the right man in the end.

my house is once again overrun with foot ball stuff, as it is is Saturday- and i don't think the nets fully dried out last week and everything is a bit musty. I am not going to watch- she's playing away, and I've too much to do. eventually Grin.
