Grin

I can't believe it's nearly September, really. I'm sure the Australian open has just finished. Grin

I'm going to spend the morning labelling school uniform . I really am.

I probably won't

I'm very nervous now.
Not helped by the fact Rafa Is serving second in the set.

I like Dom, usually. But not when he's playing Rafa!

no idea about the first set, but Rafa can take a while to get going. if Dom has changed his game from how he's used to playing him on clay, it might have caught him out.

or he got lost getting to the court. Grin

Eek! Just woke and saw the scores.
Vamos!

PrivateParkin · 05/09/2018 06:44

Is anyone watching Rafa?? Shock Switch it on quickly!!

PrivateParkin · 05/09/2018 06:45

Oh x-post, sorry - didn't see your posts!!

Raahh · 05/09/2018 06:46

managed to get prime to work on my phone, Thiem looks knackered, there are still a lot of spectators in the stadium.

PrivateParkin · 05/09/2018 06:47

Omg

Raahh · 05/09/2018 06:49

6-5 Thiem in the 5th, I've managed to get Prime to work on my phone and am torturing myself now...

Just caught the end of that last game - this is very stressful

Mama1980 · 05/09/2018 06:54

I can't get amazon to wake up!

Raahh · 05/09/2018 06:55

I hate the breaks...

Raahh · 05/09/2018 06:57

it's lucky I can get ready a bit later this morning. Usually we leave the house at 7.30, so I definitely wouldn't be able to do this.

Which would be far better for my nerves!

Why is there a tie break? Have I missed something?

PrivateParkin · 05/09/2018 06:59

I know, much as I would want a fifth set tie break in say, Isner v Anderson, it seems a bit wrong in this match.

Mama1980 · 05/09/2018 07:00

Why is there a tie break?

PrivateParkin · 05/09/2018 07:00

Miranda US Open has a final set tie break, the only Slam that does AFAIK.

MirandaWest · 05/09/2018 07:02

Thank you - I haven’t been following the US open enough in recent years it would seem

Raahh · 05/09/2018 07:02

I know, it would have made sense in the Isner match, but here it is too sudden death for me.

OP posts:
Raahh · 05/09/2018 07:05

oh thank goodness.

Looks like Thiem played an incredible match there, but it's much harder to beat Nadal over 5 sets than 3. When Thiem goes ahead in 3 sets, then he knows he has a chance. You can't take that for granted in 5.

magimedi · 05/09/2018 07:08

I know the result from the US Open site.

Wonder how far behind Prime is?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 05/09/2018 07:09

OMG - woke up to all this - can anyone remember the last time Nadal didn’t get on the scoreboard in a set?

So glad he won through but feel Djok is going to do the Wimbledon/US double this year.

magimedi · 05/09/2018 07:09

X posted, Raahh.

PrivateParkin · 05/09/2018 07:10

That was such amazing tennis, what an effort by Thiem!!! Well done Rafa though!

Mama1980 · 05/09/2018 07:13

And now prime is working.......typical.
Phew glad rafas through but that was too close. Seems like thiem played amazingly well.

Raahh · 05/09/2018 07:18

theonly bagels have happened a few times- and in finals too, I can't remember one too recently though.

Thiem clearly came out looking for revenge for RG, and nearly got it.

I'm not so sure about Djok- his health could be an issue, but if it could down, he may be ok.

I think Rafa could struggle against Delpo- though it must be the 3rd time they've met in a slam this year. And it's Delpo's better surface. I would love to see Juan win the tournament again, but a part of me would also be gutted if Rafa lost now.
