Um so I may still be up watching tennis - what am I doing?! I was supposed to be banking sleep for tomorrow night!!

Serena has just walked out on court - it was a bit O2-esque: dark, spotlight, dry ice etc. Serena is in the blue tutu again.

Serena just broke back after about a million deuces. Sevastova was trying the drop shot once too often - Annabel said she had "brain freeze" I know the feeling!

Quite a good match but bedtime for me soon....

Ha I went to bed when it was 3-2, and Sevastova didn't win another game!

I wonder if Osaka can beat Serena? I didn't sleep very well last night. My aunt is coming for a visit today so I better pull myself together!

I think there would have been American patriotism overkill with her and Serena in the final- so I'm glad it's Osaka- she will be the underdog in the stadium on the night though.

My friends are back from NY. They had a great time & 2 days at the tennis. They were really struck by how noisy the crowd was and that you could move around at any time - no waiting for change of ends! And the heat/humidity was a killer.

I'm glad they had a good time, magi . The wandering around thing baffles me. How much time has been wasted this tournament waiting for spectators to either shit up or sit down, versus how many players have gone over time due to the shot clock?

I bet they wouldn't release any data (if they had it) because I'm pretty sure the former has wasted far more time than the latter.

The humidity has definitely been a big problem. Weather is beyond their control- but they can use common sense when it comes to looking after the players' welfare. So many retirements due to the weather is not a good thing at all.

I had a dream about Delpo last night I was interviewing him about today's match and he was wearing this massive navy blue cable knitted fisherman's jumper. I was asking him how he prepared for his matches and he said he always lights a log fire because he finds the flames very calming wtaf?! I definitely think tennis has permeated all our brains with these weird dreams!!

PS on a more tennis related note, Andy Roddick tweeted earlier that the tennis has been really good quality during this US Open - and that's despite the awful heat/humidity. I think he's right - and Wimbledon was the same, some excellent epic matches, loads of great storylines etc. Its brilliant. I was feeling a bit sad before about when Rafa and co might retire, only a few more years max etc, then I stopped myself because I we should just enjoy it now eh?!?
