The Whips have a LOT of power in Parliament.

Julia's ex is a Whip.

viques · 06/09/2018 19:14

Dont members of the armed forces not have to have their fingerprints on record? THey already suspect "Adrian Smith" is ex forces, they have his fingerprints,, surely the first thing you do is run them through the armed forces finger print identification thingy and identify him as someone who was in the same unit as Dave/David. Thus leading them to the obvious conclusion......

viques · 06/09/2018 19:17

Sorry, only just catching up on iplayer. I expect this has been discussed already.

I am hoping Keeley hawes has a clause in her contract giving her Julia's wardrobe to take home, there are some seriously nice duds, not the cream outfit with blood splatter obviously,

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/09/2018 19:22

Agree @viques, I was coveting the burgundy Burberry and silk blouses.

viques · 06/09/2018 19:30

the beautifully cut trousers with a blue jacket, I think in episode 2 , that were making me drool, wouldn't look as good on me but they were gorgeous. The shirts are lovely too.

I've been wondering that too.

VanGoghsDog · 06/09/2018 19:40

According to some stuff I read on that, no, the armed forces can have their prints and DNA stored voluntarily, but it's not compulsory and even if it is stored, there's no reason the police would be able to access it.

Gruach · 06/09/2018 19:58

Quite surprised at people loving her wardrobe. It is very sleek - but I’d assumed the relentless plainness was for the sake of the longevity and global appeal of the show, rather than to inspire real life dressing.

I’m not generally keen on embellishment at all - but there’s never anything to look at. (That said I’ve only just stopped interrogating my interior Nessa Stein - The Honourable Woman - whenever I contemplate buying anything to wear. Now, that was a wardrobe ...)

mizu · 06/09/2018 22:05

Oh yes Gruach the Honourable Woman wardrobe was amazing.

I like Keeley's HS stuff too actually, she wears it well as she has the height.

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 06/09/2018 22:37

I don't think the briefcase was empty. When she got to the venue she had a go at the aide about the fact checking so if there was nothing in there he would have said pretty much straight away.

The straight interpretation (to me at least) is that the secret service are feeding her info because they want her as PM to support their drive for more extensive powers, which she's going along with. But, knowing how JM likes to make his characters a bit more ambivalent (especially KH...) I wonder whether she was doing it more to expose things or put them in their place. That would fit with her going to PM, and presumably tipping him off.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/09/2018 22:45

Just binge watched it on iPlayer tonight and now working my through this entire thread.
FWIW, Richard Madden: I totally would, ( but he’s a bit too short for 007).

Loved this line in the Guardian comments:
“Did you use protection?
Aye, I kept my bullet proof vest on”

placemats · 07/09/2018 18:37

Burt Reynolds turned down the role of 007. Such a shame!

I don't mind a man who is below 6 ft.

Travelledtheworld · 08/09/2018 02:42

Gr8scott you have shattered all my illusions and I am now heartbroken. In my fantasies Adrian remains a charming and considerate lover.
Confused
Do you work in theatre/TV or hail from Enniskillen ?

RunSweatLaughAndLatte · 09/09/2018 00:03

Who do you guys think let off the bomb? Do you think David was aware there may have been an explosive in the briefcase but let it through anyway?

TweeBee · 09/09/2018 07:38

Hi Run, I don't think there was an explosive in the briefcase and I don't think David would have let it through if so. I'm not sure about his feelings for the Home Secretary now but I don't think he'd risk the lives of so many other people. Well, I hope not. If he wanted her to die he could have let the sniper bump her off.
What does everyone think about Julia - will she be alive tonight?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 09/09/2018 07:41

I don’t Julia will be in it anymore. I think it will shift to the investigation into the bomb and the shooting and we’ll be seeing more of the two police officers who questioned David.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2018 07:54

Yes she will be alive

DoryNow · 09/09/2018 08:10

Def she will be in it, albeit possibly only as a comatose body in a bed for the first bit.

MissEliza · 09/09/2018 10:42

Mail on Sunday did a piece on tonight's episode, trying to figure out who did it. It was utterly rubbish because JM's writing is so good, there's virtually no clues. However, every piece I've read seems to agree David will be under suspicion.

beanaseireann · 09/09/2018 14:32

Travelledtheworld
On another thread someone one else remarked negatively about Adrian Dunbar too Sad

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 09/09/2018 16:02

I'm torn.
I normally live chatting online at the same time as watching TV, but this deserves and needs 100% concentration.
I'll see you all at 10.01pm

yetea · 09/09/2018 17:16

Is Julia’s ex/chief whip the bloke who played caravan peadophile in Married to a Peadophile? I reckon so but can’t see anything online about who he is.

CodLiverOil556 · 09/09/2018 17:18

I've changed our weekly shopping delivery to 1030 from 930 so it doesn't interrupt!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 09/09/2018 17:19

I wish I had a bodyguard, with hair that's gelled just right,
He'd keep me safe throughout the day, and roger me at night.
I'd play with all his scar tissue, from arse right up his back
I'd make him call me Ma'am when we were romping in the sack.

I wish I had a bodyguard, a David, or a Dave.
He'd protect me from all flying eggs, my jacket he would save.
He'd throw himself in front of bombs and mess up all his hair
And when the Docs say that I'm dead, he'll cry that it's not fair.
