I think briefcase is a red herring. Briefcase guy was standing to the side of the stage and the blast came from in front.

Don't trust sleazy Rob though.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/09/2018 22:00

Is she dead?

KateMcD451 · 02/09/2018 22:00

Just seen the first 2 episodes, arrrgh why did that armed officer pause like that and not take a precautionary shot at that van terrorist. My heart was in my mouth! Also, that Counter Terrorist woman at the beginning was just aggravating the situation on the train by shouting and making the bomber nervous, surely that wouldn't happen in real life. Confused

PseudoBadger · 02/09/2018 22:01

What did briefcase guy say on the phone about 5 minutes before? It was something like ‘it’s on’ or ‘we’re on’

NoisyBrain · 02/09/2018 22:06

The cockney woman who works with Budd saw something at the front of the room that made her run towards the stage.

HandOff · 02/09/2018 22:07

Gosh it's so confusing!

If the briefcase contained a bomb, why did he run towards her?

Violetroselily · 02/09/2018 22:08

I've just rewatched. It looked like they both saw the male figure at the side of the stage and that's what they ran to. Couldn't really see if the bomb was front or side.

HandOff · 02/09/2018 22:08

I think Rob knew bomb was coming hence refused to come...

KnotsInMay · 02/09/2018 22:09

Well at least we know now about the gun behind the panelling in: it’s scarface’s.

And we can only assume the Crimewatch switchboard is jammed by people calling in shouting ‘It’s Rodney Trotter!’

foofooyeah · 02/09/2018 22:10

Confused, but the chap with the briefcase would be just too obvious.

HappyGirl86 · 02/09/2018 22:10

I think David ran to the stage to stop his colleague/the female police officer from getting hurt! Not to protect Julia. I'm convinced he knew it was a bomb.

Panicmode1 · 02/09/2018 22:11

Not sure I'm carrying on with it after tonight. I assume we are meant to wonder whether he saw the bomb in the briefcase or not, and therefore whether he's part of the plot etc but I don't care enough about any of it to invest any more time. LOD it is not....

NewUserNameTime · 02/09/2018 22:15

It's not as good as LoD but I love it. Wish we didn't have to wait a week!

FreezerBird · 02/09/2018 22:15

I honestly thought the female police officer had seen the aide with the briefcase and made the wrong call, was going to rugby tackle the poor innocent aide and it would all be Terribly Embarrassing.

With a slightly more sensible hat on, I did think Dave(id) had seen the bomb and let him get on with it, but actually I think I agree with previous posters that briefcase aide is a red herring.

Also: surely there is no way the person on duty outside the home sec's door over night wouldn't hear a) the shagging and b) the scared noises when he nearly strangled her?

And she didn't have any bruising on her neck. I thought she was going to have to borrow one of Gina McKee's polo-necks.

Hassled · 02/09/2018 22:16

No I have faith in Dave. I think he lurves her. I think Asian beardy aide with the briefcase is a red herring - he didn't even know he was going to be there until the other guy suspiciously pulled out.

I don't actually know if my nerves can take this - this is exceeding Homeland levels of tension, and that's saying something.

FreezerBird · 02/09/2018 22:16

I am quite enjoying it but I don't care about any of them. Not a decent human in the place.

Travelledtheworld · 02/09/2018 22:17

Well,it will never compare with LOD as Adrian Dunbar is my crush. But enjoying it never the less and have completed an ironing Marathon to burn off the adrenaline while watching.

Graphista · 02/09/2018 22:18

Much suspension of disbelief needed!

They would have easily identified the sniper by this point unless they really are shit at their jobs! Guns are not as easy to get hold of as people think. Certainly not specialised weaponry like that used.

"I’m baffled as to how they got such an accurate illustration considering he shot is own head/ face off." They had cctv images. Just not detailed enough for lip reading.

"I think briefcase is a red herring. Briefcase guy was standing to the side of the stage and the blast came from in front." I agree. Something not quite right there.

Who was the guy who said "who does she think she is?" The political side/characters I'm finding very confusing. Too many similar looking actors.

SometimesMaybe · 02/09/2018 22:20

I’m really enjoying it. It’s no Line of Duty but the acting is good and I am happy to suspend belief for some aspects.
I thought the scene after he attacked her with them on either side of the door was really touching. Showed them both to be very vulnerable.

Crinkle77 · 02/09/2018 22:20

Me too panicmode surely the whole point of a tv show is that you have to care about at least one of the characters.

PeteHornberger · 02/09/2018 22:21

The stuff that was on the encrypted tablet that Richard Longcross(?) gave to her, do we know who that's about yet? Wasn't sure if I missed the name or there is a big reveal coming.

OneOfTheGrundys · 02/09/2018 22:23

Travelled you’ll have to fight me for Adrian dahling.
Loving every minute... Proper Sunday night telly that. Painting nails during was maybe not the best idea though. 🧤tomorrow...

DickensianHysteric · 02/09/2018 22:24

Who was the guy in the hospital (?) at the end, shouting at David demanding to know what went wrong? Was it the same guy who was meeting her in secret? I can't keep track of them all!
I did think that if they found out that she'd sneaked off to Chequers they'd also know that she was shagging her bodyguard!

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/09/2018 22:27

That was the Speaker of the House, who's also Julia's ex-husband.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/09/2018 22:29

Every time I see Gina McKee in anything I think of that review of The Forsyte Saga that said she looked like she'd had recent and painful dental work!
